Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 497 - 473: A Life Commitment (Part 3)
Sienna Thornton was surprised: "The future?"
Simon Forrester nodded: "Yes, my future with you."
Sienna Thornton blushed: "Are you the kind to commit after a kiss?"
Simon Forrester laughed: "Who says I’m not? I actually liked you quite a bit already, but that early liking didn’t yet make me want to spend a lifetime together. But after that day, I thought, I had to take responsibility for you. Now that I think about it, it was a subconscious positive projection; not because of that night that I want to be together, but because I already subconsciously wanted to be with you, which made that night a strong catalyst."
Quentin Thorne’s voice suddenly came from outside the door: "Annie, have you signed the documents? Lawyer Caldwell is about to leave."
Sienna Thornton snapped back to reality, struggling with her words: "...Yes... it’s done!"
She quickly straightened her wrinkled clothes, jumped off the bed, grabbed the two briefcases full of documents, and went to open the door. Before opening, she glanced back at Simon Forrester, who was already fully dressed, and only then did she go out.
Lawyer Caldwell and Old Mrs. Thorne were still in the living room, and Quentin Thorne asked her: "Are you sure you’re registering on the 14th?"
Sienna Thornton nodded.
Quentin Thorne then said: "Alright, I’ll bring your household register over a day early." After speaking, he said to Lawyer Caldwell, "Make sure all these procedures are done before the 14th."
Sienna Thornton understood what he meant, hesitated, but finally spoke up: "Well, about grandma’s patents and shares of Prosper Law, they can be changed before the 14th. But regarding the Forrester Family, can it be after the 14th?"
Quentin Thorne looked at her deeply in the eyes, without saying anything. It was unclear whether he agreed or refused.
Lawyer Caldwell reminded timely: "If the ownership transfer is done after the 14th, then these will no longer be your personal premarital assets."
Sienna Thornton: "I know, which is why I hope it’s after the 14th."
At this point, Old Mrs. Thorne, sitting on the sofa, asked: "Caldwell, regarding the Forrester Family’s betrothal gifts, what’s the difference between changing ownership before or after the 14th?"
Lawyer Caldwell glanced at Quentin Thorne, seeing that Quentin Thorne did not object, he directly explained: "If the change is done before the 14th, as long as Director Thorne and the groom hold the wedding smoothly, these will be regarded as the Forrester Family’s betrothal gift to Director Thorne, and once the marriage is confirmed, it will be her personal premarital asset. If the couple divorces in the future, the groom has no right to split it. If the change is done after the 14th, then it will be considered marital property acquired after the marriage, and if no prenuptial agreement is signed accordingly, in the event of divorce, the groom will have the right to half..."
Hearing Lawyer Caldwell mention "divorce" several times, Sienna Thornton got a bit annoyed and her face darkened. Quentin Thorne noticed it and raised his hand slightly. Lawyer Caldwell caught the signal and stopped speaking.
Old Mrs. Thorne also understood and thought for a moment, "Forget it, if Annie wants it afterwards, let it be afterwards. It’s her sincerity to the groom. Our family is straightforward, we don’t calculate those things."
With the elder’s decision, Quentin Thorne could not say anything more and instructed Lawyer Caldwell to handle it according to Sienna Thornton’s wishes.
Lawyer Caldwell, after receiving the order, left with the documents. Quentin Thorne consoled Sienna Thornton a few times, and after greeting Melinda Linton, also left with Old Mrs. Thorne. Before leaving, Old Mrs. Thorne glanced at the tightly closed door at the end of the hallway and reminded her granddaughter that since she was getting married, Simon Forrester should start staying at the Forrester family home.
Sienna Thornton acknowledged it, returned to the room, where Simon Forrester had already showered and fallen asleep.
She thought he must have worked late the previous night and woke up early today, so she didn’t disturb him, planning to remind him to stay at the old mansion for the next few days after he woke up.
-
Because of Sienna Thornton’s insistence, Simon Forrester could only return to the old mansion the next day.
Upon entering the house, he heard Old Master Forrester discussing with Zane Forrester which patents from Old Mrs. Thorne the Grant USA’s nuclear and power distribution business used, which Sienna Thornton had inherited, and which were left for her little granddaughter.
Simon Forrester went in without saying a word, sat down, and casually picked up a newspaper to read, silently listening to the old folks’ various analyses and calculations.
After a long discussion, they couldn’t figure out which patents belonged to Old Mrs. Thorne. Zane Forrester, a bit impatient, pushed aside the dozens of pages of documents in his hand and sarcastically said: "Ha, the Thorne Family hid it well! These patents are managed by different companies, domestic and abroad, each with a different manager. Who knows which ones are Professor Langley’s?"
Old Master Forrester asked: "Didn’t their lawyer say the money eventually flows into Professor Langley’s fund account? Can we trace clues from these companies’ bank flow?"
Zane Forrester slapped his thigh: "It probably takes some money and a few tricks!..."
Having listened to the father and son calculating, Simon Forrester couldn’t take it anymore and asked: "Checking someone’s bank flow? Aren’t you afraid of getting caught and spending a few years inside?"
Zane Forrester glanced at his son irritably: "Why don’t you go ask?"
"First, tell me, what do you want from this?" Simon Forrester deliberately asked, noticing the old guys stayed silent, he laughed sarcastically, "Don’t want to pay royalty fees?"
Old Master Forrester shamefully cleared his throat, saying nothing.
Instead, it was Zane Forrester, nonchalant, who laughed and said: "Isn’t this the Thorne Family’s dowry? Since it’s being given as a dowry, why should Grant USA pay patent fees? What sense is there in a father-in-law paying his daughter-in-law?"
