Chapter 405: Chapter 384: Thank You, Hubby

Simon Forrester was frying eggs, while a pot of hangover soup simmered nearby.

Just as he turned off the stove, before the eggs were out of the pan, a pair of soft arms wrapped around his waist.

Sienna Thornton hugged his waist, resting her face on his back, and asked sweetly, "Are you making breakfast? Thank you, baby."

He didn’t respond, simply removing the eggs from the pan and starting to slice the toast and bacon, getting ready to make sandwiches.

Trying to please him, Sienna nuzzled against his back like a cat and asked, "Did I throw up last night?"

Simon Forrester still didn’t reply.

Guessing he might be upset, Sienna gently withdrew her hands, cautiously observing his profile, "I’ll go change clothes first, and then let’s eat, okay?"

He still didn’t respond.

Sienna sighed inwardly at the bad sign and quickly dashed off to change her clothes.

Once she changed and put on makeup, Simon Forrester was already sitting in his usual spot in the dining room.

Sienna walked over with a smile, her gaze fixed on Simon’s face, trying to read his expression. She instinctively reached for the milk beside her plate, only to find nothing there.

"Hmm?" She glanced down at the table and noticed milk on Simon’s side but not hers. She asked, "Am I supposed to warm the milk myself?"

Simon Forrester lifted his face from his tablet, nodding towards the pot on the table: "You’re drinking hangover soup."

Seeing his expressionless face made Sienna even more uncertain, so she obediently served herself a bowl of hangover soup and started eating her sandwich. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

While she drank the hot hangover soup, Simon Forrester, who had been sitting there for a while drinking warm milk, quickly finished his breakfast.

He wiped his mouth with a napkin, and his gaze fell lightly on her.

Seeing his demeanor, she knew he was about to blow up, so she quickly straightened up.

Sure enough, the next second, he asked, "Have I ever told you, girls shouldn’t drink outside?"

She nodded like a pecking chick and earnestly promised, "Yes, you have! I swear I’ll never drink outside again!"

Her cooperative response rendered his prepared speech useless.

Clearing his throat, he shifted gears, "It’s not just about promises; the key is how to prevent this in the future."

"Huh?" Realizing he had learned her tricks, Sienna chuckled and cheerfully said, "If I’m in a situation like that again, I’ll bring you along so you can drink for me!"

Simon Forrester found himself helplessly amused.

Whenever he made a mistake, she would make him reflect and punish him, but when it was her turn, she’d neatly deflect his words in just a few sentences.

The main thing was, she always said it with a smile, leaving him unable to get angry, even feeling a bit ridiculous by trying to maintain a stern face.

Facing this side of her, Simon Forrester had no temper left, so he eased his sternness: "As long as you know, next time, see how I’ll handle you!"

Sienna was relieved, playfully sticking her tongue out, she ran over to kiss his cheek with a sweet "Thanks, hubby!"

The soft "hubby" made Simon Forrester feel all warm inside.

.

After settling Simon Forrester, Sienna’s heart felt like a liberated bird; after breakfast, she went to work cheerfully.

If yesterday was about getting acquainted with the environment on her first day, today marked the start of getting into the intense work rhythm.

Sienna had just entered the office, taken off her coat, and was about to start her computer when Director-General Linton’s secretary approached and told her to go to the director’s office. She quickly grabbed her business folder and went over.

Director-General Linton must have worried that she wouldn’t have a clear direction on her second day at work, so specifically reminded her that the urgent issue in Division 2 is the upcoming lawsuit at the WTO regarding the anti-dumping duties imposed by the European Union on China’s exports of fasteners.

Sienna noted this down and after returning to her office, she gathered the members of Division 2 for a meeting to understand the progress of each segment of the case and collected all the documents related to it, planning to draft a work arrangement for the case.

Most of the documents were in English, and the volume was huge; Sienna couldn’t read each one carefully, so she skimmed the key parts, which already took her a week.

During that week, she worked overtime until nine every night. Simon Forrester ended up not going home for dinner either; each evening after leaving The Forresters, he went to the design office, waiting until Sienna was off work so he could pick her up.

The two of them would return home close to ten, shower, do laundry, and take care of other things until nearly midnight. They’d chat a bit in bed before sleeping.

After a week of this routine, Sienna herself felt something was off, even before Simon Forrester could mention it. She realized she had become a workaholic with almost no personal time outside of eating and sleeping.

Joking with Simon Forrester, she said she was lucky to have already found a partner; otherwise, being this busy, she would probably end up as an older single woman.

Simon Forrester teased her back, saying she already looked like a picky older single woman, and that only by getting married and having kids would she seem like a well-rounded woman.

Noticing his subtle push towards marriage, Sienna wasn’t as evasive as before; instead, she started planning when she could take a long vacation to get married.

While calculating, Simon Forrester suddenly asked if there had been any news from Quentin Thorne lately.

Sienna only then remembered that Quentin hadn’t reached out last weekend or called her recently, almost like he had vanished.

Though it wasn’t likely anything happened to him, Sienna was a bit concerned, planning to call him the next afternoon.

However, the next afternoon, just starting work after leaving the office, she overheard some colleagues gossiping, mentioning that someone had seen Dean Thorne from Court G leaving Director-General Linton’s office.

Sienna initially thought she misheard and immediately paused, asking, "Dean Thorne from Court G?"

The colleague replied, "Yes, the very young Dean Thorne."

Another asked, "Could they have mistaken him? Why would the Dean of Court G come here?"

"I heard from Director-General Linton’s secretary, who brought in fruit, that Dean Thorne’s eldest daughter works in our department..."

The crowd was shocked: "No way? Dean Thorne’s daughter is working here?"

"But it seems there’s no colleague named ’Thorne’ in the department..."

"That’s odd. Could it be someone new we don’t know about?"

Feeling embarrassed, Sienna couldn’t listen any longer and hurried to the pantry to make coffee. Just as she finished making it, she brought it back to the office, ready to tackle the afternoon’s work when Director-General Linton’s secretary came over, saying Director-General Linton needed to see her. So, she was asked to go over immediately.
