Chapter 379: Chapter 360: Turning Danger into Safety

Shortly after Quentin Thorne left, several older doctors in white coats suddenly rushed into the emergency room.

Sienna Thornton, who was leaning over Simon Forrester, weeping silently, jolted up and moved forward, trying to catch a glimpse through the closing door’s gap.

Simon went after her, holding her trembling body and gently reassured her, "Auntie will be okay, don’t worry."

"Sienna!" Zion Quincy also arrived, dressed in casual clothes, his nose and face red from the cold, clearly having rushed over.

"What’s Auntie’s current condition?"

As soon as he came, Sienna, seeing him as a savior, hastily wiped her tears and grabbed his arm, crying, "My mom went in a while ago, I don’t know how she is, can you find out for me?"

"Alright," Zion patted her back reassuringly, "I’ll ask around. Don’t worry."

With that, he ran across to the big door without looking back. Before long, he returned.

"After Auntie had the valve replacement surgery before, maybe she didn’t rest well, and the prognosis wasn’t ideal. Atrial fibrillation was persistent, and this time a sudden shock caused heart failure, leading to unconsciousness. Now, the chief of cardiac surgery has also gone in, and they’re doing everything they can to save her."

Hearing "heart failure," Sienna’s tears flowed even more fiercely. She said nothing, just quietly sat back on the chair behind her, her elbows on her knees, covering her face, her shoulders shaking.

Simon also looked serious, led Zion aside, and asked in a low voice, "What are the chances of getting through the danger?"

Zion glanced at Sienna not far away, withdrew his gaze, and sighed heavily, "Fifty percent."

Simon didn’t respond immediately. After a moment, he asked again, "If we get through this danger and send Auntie abroad for a comprehensive examination and surgery, can we improve her quality of life and extend her survival time?"

"Valve replacement surgeries are similar both domestically and abroad. Auntie used imported materials last time as well," Zion said, "The key to this condition isn’t the materials or the surgeon, but the patient’s constitution and living environment."

Simon understood this and didn’t ask further, returning to Sienna’s side, tightly holding her hand in silent companionship.

After a while, an older and a younger doctor came out of the emergency room.

The older doctor called out, "Family of Melinda Linton, is Melinda Linton’s family here?"

Upon hearing this, Sienna quickly stepped forward, followed by Simon, Zion, and Jenna Raines, who had been sitting not far away.

The older doctor said, "The patient’s heartbeat has been restored, but the atrial fibrillation issue remains. It’s recommended to immediately perform a cardiac radiofrequency ablation."

Before Sienna and the others could react, the young doctor urged, "Family members, please come sign the consent form. We’ll perform the procedure right away. It’s a minimally invasive surgery. Don’t worry."

Hearing it’s a minor surgery, the breath Sienna was holding finally eased.

She asked Simon to stay there while she took Zion with her to sign the papers.

Soon, Melinda was wheeled to the operating room upstairs.

As Melinda was being wheeled out of the emergency room, Quentin suddenly appeared from nowhere, and manages to follow into the elevator.

Sienna’s mind was entirely focused on Melinda. Watching Melinda lying on the operating table, unconscious and pale, Sienna held her cold hand, crying non-stop.

It wasn’t until Melinda was pushed into the operating room and she returned like a helpless dandelion to the waiting chair that she realized Quentin was sitting a seat apart from her.

Her fingers clutched tighter and tighter, trying hard to control herself from confronting Quentin face to face.

.

When Simon came over with some water and bread, Sienna had already stopped crying. Quentin was sitting beside her, the two seemingly not interacting because Sienna had slightly turned her body away from Quentin.

Simon walked over, handed the water and bread to Quentin first, then sat next to Sienna, offering her an already opened bottle of hot coffee, "Drink some to perk up."

Sienna took it, sipped it twice, and quietly closed the lid again.

She hugged her arms, her small face red like a lost, pitiful kitten. Simon’s heart softened, and he pulled her into his arms. She, in turn, rested her head on his shoulder.

No one spoke, and the atmosphere was quiet and heavy.

.

More than two hours passed, and finally, the doors of the operating room opened. A young doctor came out and called, "Family of Melinda Linton! The patient’s surgery is over!"

Sienna and Simon quickly went up to him, followed closely by Zion and Quentin.

Zion asked, "How did the patient’s surgery go?"

"The surgery was very successful. The chief will explain the details later."

As the young doctor spoke, two nurses pushed a hospital bed out, and Sienna and the others quickly followed them into the elevator.

The elevator door closed and descended.

Simon noticed Quentin didn’t get in with them.

.

After settling Melinda in, Zion stayed with Sienna and Jenna in the ward while Simon went home to get fresh clothes for himself and Sienna.

When he returned to the hospital, he was carrying an extra bag of dinner.

In the ward, Sienna was by the bedside, not moving away from Melinda, while Zion and Jenna sat on the sofa nearby.

Simon entered, placed the dinner on the coffee table, and quietly asked, "Did the chief pass by just now?"

Zion nodded, "Post-surgery, she needs to stay in bed for a week, resting quietly, taking anticoagulants for three months, ensuring absolute calmness in her environment. The chief has already explained the details to Sienna."

"Okay," Simon patted Zion’s shoulder, "Dr. Quincy, thank you for today. Let’s find some time to have a meal together."

Understanding he was being dismissed, Zion glanced at Sienna, who was seemingly oblivious to the outside world, and smiled, "It’s my duty. If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave first and come to see Auntie tomorrow."

He stood up to leave. Simon glanced at the silent Jenna sitting nearby and asked, "Dr. Quincy, could you take Sienna’s sister along?"

"Sure." Zion turned to Jenna with a gentle smile, polite yet distant, "Miss Raines, please wait a moment while I have a word with your sister."

Saying this, he approached the bedside and consoled Sienna a few times in a low voice.

Sienna looked up at him and said, "Thank you."

.

Once Zion and Jenna left, Simon immediately went forward and locked the door of the ward.

When he had gone home earlier, he called Quentin, who had said he had already asked the chief of cardiac surgery to pay extra attention to Melinda, and that he was already on his way back.

Simon was quite taken aback, thinking Quentin, having finally seen Sienna, would at least seek her forgiveness before leaving. However, Quentin only ensured Melinda was okay before departing.
