"You greatly underestimate Wei Yan," Levi said. "I'm well aware of his countless crimes within the prison system, and every major atrocity he commits is aimed at making the Living City he governs sharper, more formidable."

"That's why he must be dealt with. Levi, you've grown old. It seems that your current job suits you well, matching the temperament of those antique weapons. I hope you will give it your all in this battle. After all, the residents of your town need you to build a better life for them." Mayor Chi Luo said.

Having said that, Mayor Chi Luo walked to another area.

There were many who coveted the deputy feather's Dark Thunder device, seizing the opportunity to promote themselves.

Levi shook his head helplessly too. He knew his dissuasion was pointless, but he had said what he needed to; the rest he could only do his best to manage.

Of course, from Chi Luo's words, Levi also caught a very crucial piece of information.

This ignited a spark of icy anger in his eyes.

"This guy knew from the start that it was my town he was commanding. Even so, he issued the order to demolish the entire Prison Town, turned our painstakingly built town into technological materials, disposed of the prisoners I had captured without authorization, stripping them of their final human rights, and feeding the city with energy." Levi said.

Mayor Chi Luo seemed generous, but there was indeed a suspicion that he was putting on an act.

His on-the-spot promotion was more like an insult to Levi.

It highlighted that he could decide Levi's career with a single sentence, or with another word, demote him to a marginal figure, indistinguishable from the common people.

...

The strategic meeting began after the meal.

Wu Hen could only wait outside the door. Even Levi was essentially a marginal figure; important decisions and deployments were made by those at the Golden Feather Closed-door Meeting. Others simply had their roles and were to execute orders immediately after they were issued by the higher-ups.

Although Wu Hen was outside, he had strong hearing.

The central theme of the entire meeting was not about how to deal with Grand Canyon City, but to instill a concept into all the commanders: execute, execute, and execute unconditionally. There must be no mistakes in command execution, and each combat zone must operate like precise gears...

Although Wu Hen did not know how this colossal Living City operated, he knew that any form of combat that followed too strict, formulaic, and mechanical a concept was doomed to not always be victorious.

Levi's analysis was correct; the odds for Steel Eagle City weren't high. Even the initial hunting of Prison Town would mostly likely have been played by Levi, as he had already seen through the hunting methods of Steel Eagle City from the sky. He had moved earlier towards the gorge. All he needed to press was the burst speed button, and he could easily shake off Steel Eagle City.

Unfortunately, luck was too poor. At the other end of the gorge lurked even more terrifying things. Prison Town ended up being pincered between Grand Canyon City and Steel Eagle City, doomed to fail.

...

After the great meeting concluded, the entire city entered into combat readiness.

All the citizens became screws in this battle-ready city, jointly driving the cruise of Sky City.

Rows of feather-shaped buildings unfurled, forming perfect silver-gray streamline shapes as the entire living city transformed into a silver-gray giant eagle in the clouds, sometimes skimming over mountain ridges, sometimes circling above the ground.

Purple searchlights shot towards the earth, rapidly conducting exploratory scans over the rugged terrain.

Grand Canyon City was also constantly moving, traversing the giant fissures on the surface of this vast land. Even with a tremendously large scale, it was impossible to discern their presence from high above with the naked eye.

Every building in Grand Canyon City blended in with rocks and forests, with some crucial fortresses even embedded within the rock and mountain layers themselves. Especially in the desert and canyon areas, they resembled Earth Dragons crawling across this brown land, coldly waiting for prey to pass by.

"Release the guiding bees!"

The command came from within Steel Eagle City.

The guiding bees were also devices from the antique weapons warehouse, akin to unmanned drone matrices.

After receiving the order, Levi also immediately released these guiding bees. They flew out from the underside of Steel Eagle City, forming a dense swarm that clung closely to the desert mountains and valleys in search.

The guiding bees were equipped with Earthquake Bombs; when they detected a possible enemy presence in an area, they would immediately attach themselves and subsequently generate intense seismic waves!

"Boom!!!!!!!"

A thunderous noise erupted, as the desert and the canyon suddenly began to tremble. One could see that the fractured stone walls were collapsing with a deafening crash, and some long fissure canyons were being buried. The towering brown mountains broke off and tumbled down from the heights, lodging into the hard desert floor.

The ground fluctuated, destroying the surface material and effectively turning the strata upside down. When a purple detection light struck down from above, traces of a Living City's presence emerged within the desert and canyon—a vast amount of wastewater, waste materials, and household garbage filled the sunken ground areas.

"They're just ahead."

"Activate low-altitude search!"

Above the clouds, Steel City slowly descended, slicing through the mist and soaring into the desert.

Following the lifemarks of Grand Canyon City, Steel City flew into a desert expanse known as Wang Gorge...

Wang Gorge formed a very steep slope, much like the ocean, plunging below the horizon, while on either side stood wall-like cliffs, creating a stunningly vast super-canyon.

"Enter the canyon!"

The order was issued, and Steel Eagle City went from skimming the surface of the sky to diving into Wang Gorge below. Rugged stone forests intertwined within the deep and grand visage of the canyon, and Steel City navigated between them at a breathtaking pace. It's worth noting that this was a city that could house hundreds of thousands of people, yet it maneuvered through the canyon with the agility of an eagle, avoiding collision with the vast rock walls by a hair's breadth every second.

Wu Hen couldn't help but admire the perfect coordination of the entire Living City. He also felt thousands of Dark Engines emitting an ultrasound roar.

The space around quivered with evident tears, yet the overwhelming kinetic force brought by the Dark Energy Engines seemed unaffected by the spatial turmoil, as if the eddies in a river could not possibly hinder the voyage of a great ship.

Within the weapons warehouse, Wu Hen felt a powerful sense of weightlessness, which included all four horizontal directions. In addition, as Steel Eagle City banked and drifted sideways, occupants experienced dizzying weightlessness and soul-jarring movements. Those who lived in the city had grown accustomed to it—they could even eat and drink during such motions. But Wu Hen felt uncomfortable; after all, his body was only at the Second Rank, not yet having evolved to a state of perfection.

"They're right in front of us!"

Finally, Steel City had found the enemy.

The entire city spread all its feathers and came to a sudden halt within the vast expanse of Wang Gorge.

Wu Hen felt his soul nearly jettison from his body due to the inertia.

After a bout of dizziness, he noticed on the crystal-clear screen in front of him a scene that was utterly astonishing!

There were fortresses embedded within the rock layers, cliffs, mountain walls, and Earth Veins, as if one had accidentally stepped into a lost world or entered an underground civilization. This civilization shone brilliantly, perfectly fusing technology with antiquity: contiguous castles, ramparts, stone towers, rock pavilions, temples, and canyon monasteries, all stylistically diverse yet forming a natural whole!

However, while still marveling at the architectural wonders of this canyon city state, it suddenly began to wriggle. One could see, within the damnation stone walls on either side, forms like Earth Dragons coiling, obviously driven by Dark Engines. The city's ore-like skin stirred, lifting the dense array of buildings that bristled like thorns, scales, or shells, forming distinctly different patterns of armament…

Wu Hen possessed Fourth Rank Spiritual Vision and could capture all critical information within a chaotic battlefield.

Yet, as he witnessed Grand Canyon City's rise from the depths, he felt his eyes dazzle and his brain overheat from processing these unbelievable images. As his heart continued to be stunned, he suddenly noticed that a Nine-headed Hell Snake City was entwined throughout the broad canyon!

The furnaces beneath the rock layers burned fiercely, with dark red industrial flames like molten magma underground, bursting forth as the lifeblood of the entire canyon city, and scorching the eyes with bright light. The majestic fortresses glimpsed at first sight transformed into heads of the Nine Hell Body, exceptionally sharp and triangular, emitting terrifying demonic light.

The foundational structures of the city twisted into writhing torsos, and the buildings covering them were layers of rock scales and stout spines. Nine heads, nine bodies, embraced all the citizens of Grand Canyon City. However, these nine serpent bodies were not the main body of Grand Canyon Living City; its core was an Evil Cauldron that completely filled the canyon.

This Evil Cauldron exuded an ancient aura, yet each section was the quality of high-dimensional technology refinement. One could see copper green crystals transferring energy across its surface, and its interior, like a mechanical furnace, formed energetic fires— even the massive amounts of steam released acted as a special propulsion, causing the twisting nine bodies to hiss with all the vigor of old steam locomotives!

"It's the Ten-thousand Melt Cauldron!" Levi recognized the central cauldron of Grand Canyon City at a glance, his face filled with amazement.

"One of their heads and bodies is steam-driven?" Wu Hen also spotted the key detail and responded with some surprise.

"More accurately, it's Earth Fire driven. They harvest Earth Flame from within this canyon. Even without Dark Energy, they can keep certain city engines running efficiently, which is no small matter," Levi explained.

"Isn't this technology supposed to have been phased out by you guys?" Wu Hen asked, puzzled.

"In truth, there's no inferior or superior when it comes to driving technology. Even fire, if one finds a powerful enough flame, can furnish strength that's in no way inferior to Dark Energy. The Da Xuan Law forbids developing antique drive technology, because once they're employed, it means the vast majority of lower-dimensional civilizations within Otherworldly Dust would become mere slag to some of our Living Cities... And if I'm not mistaken, a technological civilization has already been smelted by the Ten-thousand Melt Cauldron," Levi said.

Upon hearing this, Wu Hen immediately engaged his Spiritual Vision, gazing intently at the immense Evil Cauldron. From the circular openings of the cauldron, souls flickered now and then like a swarm of moths in a forest, countless and numbering in the billions.

But these swarms of moths were in a blazing forest...

The smelting took not only ancient technological materials but also a great many living beings!
