Otherworldly Affairs Office-Chapter 82: Sibling Connection
Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Sibling Connection
The person Elder Lin called Zuo Huaxian was an elder in his sixties, yet he seemed much younger than the weary Elder Lin. Don’t be fooled by his younger name, he lacked the aura of an Immortal and wore a trendy senior sportswear, his hair meticulously styled.
Ever since his daughter married a former subordinate of his and gave him a pair of twin grandchildren, the once fiercely warlike elder who sought power had come to see his strength and status in a different light. He hardly had any tasks needing his involvement throughout the year.
With a high salary and a routine life, returning home in the evening to enjoy the happiness of family life was a delight to him. He wasn’t needed to stay on duty in the bureau on New Year’s Eve since his son-in-law was on military duty and his daughter had taken the children to her in-laws for the holiday.
Sitting in an empty room with little festive spirit, after finishing the New Year’s Eve dinner himself, he felt restless and uneasy. Initially fearing something might have happened to his son-in-law and daughter, he called them only to find out they were safe and sound. After advising them to be careful and have a good new year, he hung up.
After coaxing his wife to sleep, unable to settle his mind, he put on his coat and instinctively headed towards the nearest Teleportation Array. Upon teleporting back to the bureau, he came across this scene and realized the source of his concern.
"What on earth is happening? Isn’t this the Pei Yan whom the military has been wanting to transfer?" Zuo Huaxian, enduring the impact of the surging energy, quickly approached Elder Lin and loudly asked.
"No time for questions! We must stabilize his current state! Elder Zuo, you’re here just in time. You take the lead, and let’s work together to put him to sleep!" Gu Shenghui emitted waves of black aura, which circled outside Pei Yan hesitating to invade due to its overwhelming force, was in a dilemma when Elder Zuo arrived and urgently pleaded for assistance.
"Let me try!" Seeing the urgency, Zuo Huaxian stopped hesitating, shut his eyes, took a deep breath, and then suddenly opened them, pursed his lips and exhaled a colored breath that slowly drifted towards the floating Pei Yan.
Seeing this, Elder Lin and the others hurriedly withdrew their internal energy suppressing Pei Yan’s energy, making way for the colored aura to make contact with Pei Yan’s body.
As more colored mist was expelled from Zuo Huaxian’s mouth, his brows furrowed tighter, and until the last breath left his chest, sweating heavily, he stood upright and exclaimed, "This isn’t his own power!"
"We already know that!" Elder Lin responded impatiently, shaking his head.
Zuo Huaxian suddenly turned around to his old comrade and said harshly, "No, what I mean is that this is not just his power; he is resonating with someone or something possessing the same power!"
"What!"
Meanwhile, in Northeast Harbin, at Pei Yan’s home, after helping her mother clear the New Year’s Eve dinner dishes and assisting four drowsy elderly family members to the guest room, Pei Jin exchanged New Year wishes with her parents and prepared to wash up for bed.
Wrapping herself in a bathrobe, she emerged from the bathroom, thinking how the New Year would be less alone with her brother not home, when suddenly the usually calm internal source in her body erupted, rushing her chest and forehead, causing shortness of breath, dizziness, and falling to the ground with a thud.
"Yuanyuan, what’s wrong! Are you okay! Old man, get up and see this!" Hearing unusual sounds from outside the bedroom, Mrs. Pei, who had just laid down, opened the door to see her daughter lying on the ground sweaty and quickly went over to help her up, calling her by her nickname.
"Mom, don’t call Dad. I’m fine, just had a bit too much to drink tonight, then the bath heated me up and I accidentally fell. It’s nothing serious." Adjusting her breath, Pei Jin forced down her discomfort, squeezed out a smile, and responded.
Old Pei, wrapped in a coat, came over, squatted, and felt his daughter’s forehead: "Oh, it feels hot. Maybe you’re feverish and sweating so much, shall I take you to the hospital?"
"No need! It’s New Year, going to the hospital isn’t necessary. Really, I just had a bit too much to drink, you two don’t worry and go back to sleep! I’m also tired!" Pei Jin shook her head repeatedly, got up from the ground, rubbed her knees, and said with a nonchalant expression.
"Are you sure you’re okay!"
"Really, I’m fine, hurry and go to bed!"
After coaxing her parents back to the bedroom, Pei Jin turned back into her room, locked the bedroom door behind her, and fell onto her bed, grabbed a pillow and buried her head in it, biting it hard to suppress the cries of pain from her body, drenched in sweat she looked out the window and mumbled through gritting teeth, "Otherworld Investigation Bureau!!"
At the same time, deep in the woods of Minshan, Southwest China, in a secret base of a certain organization, inside a large tank filled with unidentified liquid, a naked girl, who was hugging her knees asleep, suddenly opened her eyes, causing the liquid inside the tank to boil.
"What’s happening!" The on-duty staff, who were playing cards, saw something wrong with the data, rushed in, and stood dumbfounded at the scene, not knowing what to do.
A tall, skinny young man with pale skin and gold-rimmed glasses pushed his way to the front of the tank, gazing obsessed at the girl inside, his hands continuously stroking the surface of the tank, with his eyes glued to the girl’s sharp and clear eyes, hoping to see his reflection.
"Su Xiang! She’s communicating with the outside!" A muscular man, with a chiseled face and bulging muscles that seemed to burst his combat suit, approached with a stack of data and said in a low voice.
"I know, can we trace who she is contacting?" Su Xiang, his eyes on the girl, softly asked.
"We’re trying, but the effect is not good, possibly needing your help!"
"Okay, I’m coming!" Su Xiang reluctantly tore his gaze away, hardened his resolve, and followed the man outside without looking back.
In Harbin, far from Minshan, Pei Jin hugged her pillow and stared at the suddenly appearing naked girl’s shadow in her bedroom, gasping and whispering, "Your appearance is too risky."
"It doesn’t matter, I projected directly into your consciousness, others won’t quickly detect you, congratulations, our little brother, that little darling, hasn’t let us down, the source has awakened." The naked girl spoke in a voice devoid of emotion.
Pei Jin buried her head in the pillow again, took deep breaths to calm her inner anger, then lifted her head, defiantly staring at the girl and asked, "That’s my brother! Mine! Why did you involve him? I said I would risk my life to get you out!"
"But you haven’t tried hard enough! Twelve years, I’ve changed three bodies and am still trapped, don’t forget it was me who saved you siblings, gave you power! He’s lived in peace under your protection for twelve years, it’s time he realized this world and returned my favors, and he’s doing quite well!" The girl lifted her face, feeling the surging power identical to hers from afar, a glowing blush of pleasure appeared on her face.
