Chapter 108: Right Hook to the Bunny

"Opal, Brenner, you’re on with General Chastain and me for a match now," Alton said, his casual tone belying his far from casual intentions towards Brenner.

Niko looked up with surprise. It wasn’t like the General to participate in a training match unless he was demonstrating something. He and Baer moved to sit in the front row of the bleachers. This should be interesting...

Brenner and Opal were oblivious to the unfolding drama. They didn’t know ’normal’ around here, so they couldn’t be expected to recognise anything was amiss.

The two mixed pairs shaped up to one another.

They were very evenly matched physically, with Delphi and Opal both being around five foot five and curvy, and Brenner only an inch shorter than General Meyer, with perhaps a bit less bulk than the General.

Opal, who hated the suspense, kicked off quickly with a commando roll towards Alton, dagger at the ready. She stabbed multiple times close to his feet, but he easily jumped out of the way avoiding all of her slashes.

She stood and engaged him in a rapid series of hand strikes. Alton easily parried all of them, playing with her like a cat with a mouse.

She left herself wide open with a jab punch that was way too slow.

Alton caught her hand and twisted it up behind her back, turning her to face away from him and pulling her close against his chest where he wrapped her with his other arm, effectively completely immobilising her. This would be counted as a match ’kill’.

While Delphi was distracted, glaring angrily at Alton with the beautiful Opal wrapped in his arms, Brenner found her completely open and flew in low, tackling her, and using his bulk to pin her to the mats. He lay flat on top of her and gently pushed his knife up against her neck.

He gave her that cute smile again, his face inches from hers.

"Gotcha," he whispered. "Let’s see you try and wriggle out of this one, Delphine."

There was that suggestive single eyebrow raise again! She had a good mind to grab it and pull it down next time she saw him do it. Assuming her hands weren’t trapped like they were right now... And what was with these men calling her Delphine?

She didn’t bother trying to buck him off. He was too heavy, and wriggling would only exacerbate the compromising position she’d stupidly allowed herself to be caught in.

All of a sudden Brenner was rolled off her. It was like he’d been hit from the side by a battering ram.

She sat up to find Alton and Brenner locked in a vicious struggle.

Alton had flown in and wrenched Brenner off Delphi and was now trying to pin him to the mats, but Brenner was giving as good as he got, and the fight was starting to get ugly.

It was rapidly going well beyond the bounds of the training rules, especially the ’don’t deliberately try to hurt your opponent’ one...

"Alton," she shouted. "What are you doing? That was a fair kill by Brenner. You can’t attack someone after a kill until the casualty has left the ring, you know that!"

His only answer; the grunts and pants of a real fight.

Brenner’s blood was up too. What the hell did this man think he was playing at? That was a fair kill, and his prone position on Delphi was no better or worse than many others they’d already seen this morning. In fact the General had had his sister wrapped in his arms until a minute ago...

Baer and Niko’s mouths were hanging open. They had never seen their commander lose his shit like this and engage in a real fight with a private.

Niko kept running his hand through his hair with stress. Should he intervene or let it play out?

Alton’s face was red with anger, and he got a hit in on Brenner’s lip that drew blood.

"What the fuck?" said Brenner, and he struck back in a fury, punching Alton on the cheek, a blow that would definitely bruise.

"Stop, stop, stop!" shouted Delphi, leaning over the two men, trying to intervene. "What the hell do you two think you’re doing? This is breaking all of the match rules!"

Alton launched back his right arm intending to throw another punch into Brenner’s stomach.

Unfortunately his elbow hit Delphi between the legs on its upswing.

Despite women not having the pain levels of a man in this region, as she found out, it was still very, very painful being jabbed there by the sharp point of a big man’s elbow on the fly.

She let out a high-pitched squeal and fell to the mats, like a puppet whose strings had been cut, curling into a little ball.

"What the hell, man? You hit Delphi," Brenner cursed at Alton. "Where are you hurt Delphi, show me girl? Can you straighten your legs?"

She mutely shook her head at him.

"I’m sorry Delphi!" Alton ran his fingers uselessly through his short beard. "I didn’t know you were there. I’m sorry! Where did I hit you?"

Brenner tried to uncurl her from her protective ball to inspect the injury.

"Don’t touch her!" snarled Alton.

"I’m pretty sure she doesn’t want the man who injured her touching her," said Brenner, reasonably.

"She doesn’t want any man touching her," Delphi whispered.

Niko was shaking his head, still running his fingers through his hair until it stood on end.

Feifei ran onto the mats and shoved the two men out of the way.

"You two have done enough," she stormed. "Move out of the way and let me and Ruby take care of her."

Feifei and Ruby gently helped Delphi to her feet, and she ’walked it off,’ moving gingerly around the mats, her lips pressed together in pain.

Alton tried to approach her again, but she held up her hand to stop him getting too near.

"Not now, Alton."

"Give her some space, General," Feifei recommended.

’Where did I hurt her’ he signed at Feifei.

’Her vajayjay,’ Feifei signed angrily.

Alton blanched, looking even more ashamed than he already did.

"Jesus, General, you elbowed Delphi in the jay-jay?"

Feifei and Alton looked at him in surprise.

"Why do all of these men know sign language," Delphi muttered testily, resting her head in her hands despondently.
