Chapter 582: Chapter 495: Xilan’s Journey Through the Storm (Two in One)_2

He was in charge of the Sects’ accounts, and much of the sects’ wealth was gathered in his hands. Now that the pirates had arrived, what should he do?

God, if only my godfather were here...

Veldor trembled as he watched the pirates neatly board the deck of the big ship. The sailors retreated one after another, and the first mate had already gone into the cabin to gather silver from the passengers.

Before Veldor could think of a good plan, misfortune followed on its heels.

The particularly trembling Veldor seemed to have caught the attention of the pirate captain. The sinister-looking man chuckled mockingly, holding his saber as he leisurely walked up to Veldor.

"Monk’s robes... seems like you’re a True Believer. I’ve heard you guys always have full purses."

The giant behind the pirate captain pressed forward, his tall shadow enveloping Veldor in fear.

"I, I... we’re all poor, impoverished people..."

Veldor said in a trembling voice.

The pirate captain laughed even harder, as if he had heard some joke,

"Don’t be stupid! We’ve been in this business for many years; the richest haul was when we plundered a True Sect ship on a pilgrimage, netting over a thousand Fluent golds!"

His boisterous laughter caused the other pirates to erupt into laughter as well. Veldor was surrounded by their mocking laughter, shivering and at a loss.

The pirate captain drew his saber, slowly placed it on Veldor’s neck, and drew a small line of blood,

"Give as much as you have! Understand?!"

Veldor froze in place, his entire body cold with fear. After a long moment, as if he had lost his soul, he muttered:

"Are we True Believers that easy to rob?"

This helpless and somewhat absurd statement sent the pirate captain into fits of laughter.

"That’s right, that’s right, each of you is a good little pig waiting to be slaughtered!"

As the words fell, the pirates burst into laughter again,

"Right! Good little pigs!"

"Pigs, I think they’re whores!"

"Oh, whores of God, look at these people, spouting Scriptures the most!"

They continued to utter numerous foul words, and the noisy voices made Veldor’s cheeks burn. Yet his life was in their hands, and he was powerless.

All Veldor could do was meekly raise his hand and reach into his pocket for his money bag.

Suddenly, as he drew out his money bag, he saw huge waves rising on the sea surface, and the two adjacent ships began to rock violently. A sudden gust of wind descended, viciously lashing out at the huge sails like deflated cowhide bags.

Above the sea, something flashed by, and suddenly the sky darkened. Unanticipated clouds gathered, and the previously calm sea was utterly disrupted.

Whether pirates or passenger sailors on deck, all were caught off guard. Suddenly someone shouted:

"Storm! Storm!"

The sea water surged, and waves relentlessly pounded the ships. The big ship was relatively steady, but the smaller pirate ship let out pitiful creaks. The howling wind roared mercilessly, and ruthless thunderstorms blasted apart from the black clouds, creating a scene terrifyingly indicative of the apocalypse.

The people on deck panicked, some pirates frantically jumped back onto their pirate ship, and raindrops fell from the clouds, seeming to pound at the deck with an immense force. The pirate captain began bellowing hoarsely:

"Dammit! Dammit! Control our ship quickly!"

The pirates, who had been ferocious and evil, now showed panicked expressions, their mocking gone. In the face of the vast storm, they were merely ants.

Some pirates even knelt down there and then, pleading for safety to the Water God Angel and the Sea God.

But the waves continued one after another, showing no sign of easing, spreading chaos like a plague, with thunderous roars covering everything in sight.

"What is that?!"

A pirate pointed ahead in panic and shouted.

Everyone quickly looked up, only to see something shimmering rapidly approaching; it headed straight towards them as if intending to shatter the entire ship into fragments.

The terrifying sight further spread panic; the pirates even trembled and dropped their weapons, while Veldor saw the pirate captain’s face turn deathly pale.

"Are you scared?"

Veldor asked instinctively.

"Shut up! Don’t bark, you cur!"

The pirate captain snarled fiercely, but his trembling hands betrayed him.

The tempest toyed with the two ships like ants, massive thunderbolts striking the water and creating huge splashes, while the glowing object maneuvered through them, causing everyone to shudder in fear.

"A sea monster?! It’s a sea monster!"

"Idiot, it must be a ship!"

"Could it be a Ghost Ship, damn it, filled with ghosts, we’re all going to die!"

The pirates screamed in terror, watching the glowing object get closer.

Veldor stared straight ahead; amid the storm, everyone finally saw that it was neither a sea monster nor a Ghost Ship, nor any sort of ghost.

It was a person!

The pirate was so frightened that he even dropped his knife.

In the midst of the storm, Xilan came riding the waves.

He walked literally through the storm, his broad robes whipped by the wind, thunder booming behind him; in that moment, he resembled a Divine being.

The passengers gasped, all tumbling to sit on the deck amidst the rocking.

"My God Hiris, how can someone be suspended in the air!"

"The profound Prophecy, enlighten me."

"God, God..."

The noisy voices spread on the deck, almost drowned out by the storm as the people witnessed a miracle-like scene.

Veldor stared dumbly at the person walking through the storm, recognizing him of course!

Under their gaze, the person slowly descended from midair, landing on the deck, looking down at everyone. He slowly approached, and the frightened crowd parted to make way, even the ferocious pirate captain scuttled back using his hands and feet. The man walked up to Veldor, lifted the disheveled Veldor from the deck.

"My friend, you have taught me much, I shall return to consult further with you,"

Xilan said slowly amid the storm.

But Veldor just stood there dumbfounded, unable to utter a word, frozen as if struck by lightning.

Everyone’s eyes were riveted on Xilan, filled with fear, surprise, mesmerism, or frenzied joy. Xilan then temporarily left Veldor’s side, extended his hand towards the pirates, and commanded them to tie themselves up.

The pirates initially were shocked, then slowly anger rose from their fear, like the rage of cornered beasts, but when Xilan walked up to the pirate captain and pushed him overboard with a gesture, chanting something, the wicked pirate captain was thrown off the large ship into the churning waters and let out a hoarse, desperate plea. All their anger dissipated, replaced only by deep-seated dread.

Thus, having witnessed what seemed like a Divine intervention, the pirates who had so recently mocked the passengers and Veldor with impunity fetched ropes and bound themselves, cowering and kneeling on the large ship, creating a ludicrous scene. The captain, the passengers, and the sailors gaped, unable to believe their eyes— who could have imagined these bloodthirsty men reduced to cowering like mice.

Then, as Xilan waved his hand, the straining pirate ship was suddenly flipped over by a giant wave; a huge, surging wave followed right behind, submerging it deep in the ocean, never to resurface.

Seeing this, the pirates felt a chill in their hearts, kneeling tremulously; a few particularly desperate pirates leaped into the water, crying out the ship’s name. Their figures were instantly engulfed by the waters, disappearing without trace, buried alongside the pirate ship.

And Xilan remained expressionless, walking back to Veldor who finally snapped back to reality, trembling and collapsing again onto the deck.

Witnessing that miraculous scene made him realize that this man had long become a saint,

After a long pause,

He looked at Xilan and quivered:

"Spare me, I have nothing to teach you."
