Chapter 526: Chapter 452: The Will of the People (Added more)

Angel Schiller returned to the Sea of Souls, where he was greeted by a guest he had long anticipated.

"Resurrection! Resurrection!"

The fairies were scrambling in panic across the Sea of Souls, running without a care for direction, their frightened voices echoing through the streets and alleyways.

Angel Schiller smiled, looking at the blood-covered Slaier.

The Deity of Lies and Tricks stood upright before him, who, not long ago, was a dead man.

"Death really feels quite unpleasant," Slaier said languidly, caressing the wounds on his chest,

"Wow, it hurts, it really hurts."

Great Angel Schiller stared at Slaier,

"Well done."

Slaier spread his hands and said with a smile,

"I’ve always been striving to become a true Divine."

Then, he gazed towards the Netherworld,

"This would indeed make a good tale for the scriptures, fit for my believers to see what kind of God I truly am.

That is exactly what I want."

Great Angel chewed on a sunflower seed, asking leisurely,

"What shall the scripture be called?"

Slaier pretended to ponder for a moment before replying:

"The name will be... ’Slayer’s Hymn’."

Schiller was noncommittal about the guest’s words; they were of no consequence to him. fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm

"I have gotten what I wanted, so what about you, Schiller,

have you been able to explore the mysteries... deep within the soul?" Slaier asked, turning his head.

The Great Angel and Slaier, they had been in collusion for some time.

To say collusion might not be entirely accurate. More precisely, they both had implicitly led each other along, following the direction of the collective subconscious.

"In that moment, I saw a Temple...

It seemed as if it was always waiting for me to unlock it."

Schiller answered simply, unwilling to reveal more to anyone else.

The Deity of Lies and Tricks nodded his head and, with a bow, bid farewell:

"Until next time, it was a pleasure working with you."

Schiller hadn’t yet responded when the other vanished without a trace.

Of course, the Great Angel had no intention of responding.

He spread his wings and in a moment was back at the zenith of the Sea of Souls.

Fairy Queen Sofia awaited him, this creature now brimming with endless curiosity.

Schiller looked at Sofia, knowing she was patiently waiting for his answers.

"Speak, Sofia, what is it you really want to ask?"

Sofia raised her head, the clouds churning around her at that moment.

"Why... I don’t understand.

Breaking taboos and facing retribution, that’s common sense."

"Breaking taboos and receiving blessings isn’t surprising either.

But... Baird received both."

Speaking so, the always rational Sofia paused before adding:

"If we judge only by the final outcome, did Baird find happiness in the end because breaking the taboo ultimately turned out to be a good thing?"

Sofia’s consecutive questions entered Schiller’s ears.

The Fairy Queen was always like this, filled with curiosity about everything in the world from her creation, and using rationality to understand what she saw, yet Baird’s story seemed inexplicable by reason alone.

Schiller slowly walked up to Sofia, meeting her expectant and curious gaze.

Do we... also look at God with such eyes?

In the eyes of God, are we like Sofia?

The Great Angel suddenly felt a strange sensation.

He quickly gathered his thoughts and held the thumb-sized Sofia in his palms,

"Breaking taboos, can one ultimately reap evil results, or good results?"

"Behind this, there seems to be traces to follow, but upon careful thought, there also seems to be no eternal and unchanging rule."

Saying this, Angel Schiller gazed into the far-off lands from the deepest reaches of the Celestial Kingdom.

Sofia followed his gaze to the earth below, where the autumn wind stirred up the withered yellow of the season, washing away the dirt and grime of the past year.

"Sofia, I must ask you again, what is a myth?"

The Fairy Queen lifted her head and said:

"God’s... words?"

Angel Schiller shook his head,

"How the world operates, how heaven and earth are separated, how language appeared, how fate’s design is abandoned... These are not narrated by God, but are recorded by humans themselves."

"God acts upon the earth, and as witnesses, people have documented those deeds and told them through their own voices, that is myth."

"Myth is... the language of humans,

Only humans tell myths."

Hearing this, Sofia lowered her gaze and asked:

"What does this have to do with Baird?"

Schiller spoke slowly:

"Didn’t I say before that people walk the earth as if they are in a myth? Have you so easily forgotten?"

Sofia was slightly startled,

"You mean?"

Schiller slowly approached the edge of the Sea of Souls, his gaze extending to the world before him, and only as an Observer could he see clearer and more.

"Breaking taboos is not only a choice made by Baird, but also a choice made by the collective subconscious."

Upon hearing this, Sofia had an epiphany.

The collective subconscious, deep within the soul, subtly influences and even dictates all aspects of human life.

At times, this influence and control are referred to as fate.

And myth, is the reflection of the collective subconscious; people use myths to narrate those events, providing reasoned explanations to grace, suffering, survival, death, and other such issues.

In this process, the collective subconscious is both the experiencer and the writer of myths.

In order to better explain this to Sofia, Schiller continued:

"Breaking taboos, can one ultimately reap evil results, or good results?

Facing the same story, the accounts in different myths will be completely different because they are the language of humans."

"For example, among the Elves, there are the ’Nu Mirda Epic’ and ’Exile’s Word’, facing the same event, the former explains the absence of rich trappings by suggesting that the King was bewitched, while the latter states that it was because the people of Logos left the peaceful Arcadia necessitating the presence of a serpent that bewitches the heart."

Schiller gazed into the distant lands, sensing that he had entered a higher level of existence.

The land before him was a scene of changing winds and shifts of the heavens, from Logos people executing Maisy, convinced that their destruction was imminent for having killed an Angel, to Nimirda claiming a divine mission and leading the people away from the peaceful Arcadia. As an almost eternal being, he had witnessed much.

The river of time flows ceaselessly, and people have added so much embellishment to history that it has gradually strayed from the actual facts, turning into elusive myths.

Sofia stood on his palm, also looking out at the world.

The autumnal mood was intense, with withered leaves littering the ground; countless rivers flowed into the sea without a day of reversal, the sun rose in the east and set in the west, never rising in the west and setting in the east.

No matter how people narrate myths, the world is always objective and eternal.

"Sofia,

Taboos are meaningless.

It is humans who give them meaning, we give them meaning, the people give them meaning."

Schiller focused on the autumn-rich land,

"Myths are about imparting people’s thoughts, the collective subconscious thoughts, onto a story.

And Baird’s experiences,

are not about whether to break a taboo,

nor are they about whether breaking a taboo ultimately yields evil results or good results.

But rather, it is about reflecting our ideas, the will of the people upon Baird!

And this is myth, this is the transcendental ’Secret Thoughts’!"
