Chapter 742: Chapter 666: Su Ran’s Deduction (Two-in-One)_2
The city lord sighed, taking one more glance towards the man in a black robe at the end of the group.
Rewards!
Milk Cream and the others suddenly perked up, their ears standing straight.
"Wait!"
Wu Laoer spoke at this moment, disrupting the conversation, "Big brother, their mission isn’t completed yet. The Magic Sky Snake’s corpse hasn’t been brought out. What rewards are you talking about?!"
God, can’t you keep quiet?!!!
All eyes were on Wu Laoer, filled with resentment. They wished they could sew his mouth up right there and then!
However, Su Ran was deeply looking at Wu Laoer.
"Huh? I almost forgot."
The city lord tapped his head and continued, "Brave warriors, hand over the corpse of that Monster Serpent to me. The Magic Sky Snake, used together with the corpse of the queen ant, creates an accelerating effect, which would shorten the time to open the Secret Realm by seventy-seven cycles!"
"About that..."
Milk Cream hesitated slightly before deciding to tell the truth, "City lord, we did not kill the Magic Sky Snake."
"How is that possible? Then how did you get the Secret Realm Horn?"
The city lord felt a bit ridiculous.
"We obtained the Secret Realm Horn by digging up the Magic Sky Snake’s lair by chance."
Milk Cream cast a glance towards the city lord’s expression, continuing, "Just as we were about to kill the Magic Sky Snake, it was magically collected by a strange sack and disappeared."
"Sack... Heaven and Earth Pouch?!"
The city lord exclaimed, his gaze falling on the second brother, "That Heaven and Earth Pouch is yours, second brother, what is going on?"
Su Ran, at the back of the group, showed a hint of emotion. Not saying anything, his gaze stayed on Wu Laoer.
"Big brother, you sure forget a lot, I told you a hundred years ago, I lost that Heaven and Earth Pouch and haven’t found it yet."
The muscular man didn’t upset because of this but just replied nonchalantly.
"Then who did this Heaven and Earth Pouch finally fell into?"
The city lord didn’t let his suspicion fade but interrogated, "Only we three brothers are in Cloud City now. Our youngest brother has been completely secluded for years, who else could I suspect if not you?"
"But our youngest brother has gone missing, who knows if he used that Heaven and Earth Pouch? Moreover, there are five outsiders here as well, why not cast some suspicion on them?"
Wu Laoer sneered, casting a malicious glance at everyone.
"Bastard, you’re framing us!"
Youtong was the first to explode, pointing at Wu Laoer’s nose and starting to swear. Regardless if they were city lord brothers or not, if they offended her, she would swear back even if they were heavenly fathers!
"Before we have definite proof, everyone present here is potentially suspicious!"
Wu Laoer waved the axe in his hand, and his threat was obvious.
"Enough, let’s focus on the mission. City Lord, let’s go and find out what happened. Maybe we’ll find some clues."
Milk Cream spoke up, dissipating the tension in the room.
"City Lord, I suggest we first go and check your third brother’s training room, perhaps, he left some useful information when he left."
Su Ran, who had been silent this whole time, spoke at this moment, a glint in his eyes.
"Alright!"
With the mission reward on hold, nobody had anything to say. They followed the city lord out of the room and walked off into the distance.
"City Lord, if I may ask, is the training room far from here?"
After walking through the corridor for a while, Su Ran came to the city lord’s side and asked.
"Hmm, training requires absolute quietness, so naturally it’s a bit far."
"So, if there were any disturbances in the training room, like fights or shouts, we might not be able to hear it?"
"Hmm, the walls of the training room are half a meter wide, and even the door is fortified with magic arrays. The outside cannot hear anything."
The city lord was somewhat puzzled by Su Ran’s question, but he patiently explained. Even the rest of the group looked at Su Ran quizzically, not knowing what he was up to.
"I see."
Su Ran nodded, and was soon lost in deep thought.
Everyone walked through the corridor and arrived at the door of a training room, made from a mysterious metal.
"Lord of the town, given that the door is protected by an array, does this mean it is impossible for outsiders to enter this training room?"
Su Ran posed another query just before the town master could open the door.
"Yes."
The Master of the Town nodded, following Su Ran’s lead, "If someone unfamiliar touches this door, it triggers a sharp alarm that can be heard throughout Cloud City."
"In that case, can I presume there are only two possibilities for the disappearance of your third brother: either he left on his own, or one of you helped him leave?"
When Su Ran spoke, his voice was firm and resolute, giving his words an undeniable credibility.
"Indeed, especially since the alarm did not go off."
The town master agreed and nodded, turning to Su Ran, "Warrior, if you have something to say, then say it."
"There is still doubt. Without solid evidence, our conjectures don’t hold any credibility."
Being well aware of this, Su Ran stretched out his hand, the implication clear - let’s stop dawdling and open the door!
The door opened, and everyone stepped in. The room was in complete disarray.
"Even the bed has been destroyed. It looks like there was a devastating battle here, or perhaps the third brother fell under a spell."
Wu Laoer stepped forward, carefully observing the furnishings in the room, his tone grave.
"Why is it so wet?"
Huge Smoker had just come back from the Cloud Pool and was somewhat sensitive about water. He found that the ground, full of cracks, was almost entirely covered in puddles, even most of the walls were drenched, as though the room had been battered by a storm.
"Lord of the Town, there’s no faucet in here, is there?"
After examining the room, Su Ran asked. He had not seen any signs of pipes.
"Faucet? What equipment is that? We use water skins."
"And what occupation did your third brother have? Was he a water -mage?"
Su Ran’s question pierced to the heart of the matter.
"The three of us brothers have the same occupation. We’re all berserkers."
The town master didn’t understand the relevance of Su Ran’s questions, but he patiently explained nonetheless.
"I see!"
As soon as the words had left the town master’s mouth, Youtong shouted excitedly. Under the careful guidance of Su Ran, she seemed to understand his intention, "This place, must have been attacked with water magic."
"You’re very astute."
Everyone said half-heartedly, not wanting to dampen Youtong’s enthusiasm. If she still didn’t understand after Su Ran had laid it out like this, she might as well go and bump her head against tofu...
"Water magic?"
The town master suddenly understood. Touching the cracks under his feet, his anger began to rise, "The third brother didn’t go mad, he was killed!"
Finally, he understood this simple fact!
Su Ran heaved a sigh of relief. Now that the town master had grasped this much, they could continue with their deductions.
"Lord of the Town, think about it, who in Cloud City, under your jurisdiction, possess the ability to use such powerful water magic that even your third brother could not counter?"
Su Ran gently prompted, guiding the town master to uncover the truth.
"Water... powerful... Magic Sky Snake!!!"
The town master pondered and naturally concluded that the Magic Sky Snake was the culprit.
"How wise, Lord of the Town!"
Su Ran praised. Taking advantage of the moment, he continued, "This Magic Sky Snake has never been in contact with the training room before, right? So, how could it enter? Unless, based on our understanding of it, the severely wounded dragon used extreme measures to break the restrictions! Strangely, the alert for the exercise room never went off!"
"So someone was guiding it..."
Only when Su Ran continued to hint did the town master react. He glared at his second brother and shouted, "Wu Laoer, you’d better explain this to me, or else, don’t blame me for being rude!"
Everyone looked at Su Ran in amazement. They had not expected Su Ran to be capable of skillfully driving a wedge between the two brothers. His ability to instigate disputes was indeed unfathomable!
