Chapter 595: Chapter 568: The Insider (Two in One)_2

"Damn it!!! Who on earth did I piss off?"
Chest Hair was so angry that he was practically fuming, having been pelted by the rocks that kept coming. He slumped onto the ground.
The other players wanted to laugh but didn’t dare. They put on sympathetic faces and huddled around Chest Hair.
"Chest Hair, someone’s above you!"
A player followed the trajectory of the rocks up to the top of the cave and happened to catch a glimpse of a vague figure flitting past.
"Bastard, go up there and grab that damned player! I want to see who has the guts to mess with me!"
"Ting!"
Chest Hair forcefully drew his gold longsword from the ground, carried it on his shoulder, fixated his gaze on the opening at the top, and roared, "After him!"
At his command, four players jumped out of the cave, leapt down the waterfall, and dashed into the hidden path. There was a hidden space there, with winding rock steps leading to the top of the cave. These players went to catch the player who had been causing mischief.
"Chest Hair, this person knows the terrain very well!"
The mage player didn’t give chase but stayed with Chest Hair, speaking gravely, "This person wants to lure us away to go for the giant treasure chest! Could it be...does this person know about the prophecy?"
"Isn’t it strange? The passage at the top has been completely sealed off by Leader Dai. Without a closer look, you wouldn’t even be able to see it. Only a few know about this secret. How did this person discover it? I suspect there’s a traitor in our guild!"
Chest Hair’s anger had dwindled somewhat. He quickened his pace, keeping a good distance from the opening above, afraid of getting hit by more rocks. "As I see it, if this guy chose to act today, it means he’s aware of the NPC’s prophecy. He’s here for the treasure chest!"
"So... were we tricked?"
A chill ran through the mage player, and he drew a gasp.
"A ruse?"
Chest Hair gave a sardonic grin, his eyes gleaming mysteriously, "Only then would tonight be even more exciting, right?"
"Uh...Chest Hair, be honest with me, did you purposely put on that show earlier?"
The mage’s eyes widened, if that was the case, this chubby player sure was cunning!
"What do you think?"
Chest Hair gave a meaningful smile, although the three red packets on top of his head were a little out of place.
"Using yourself as bait to lure the enemy out! Chest Hair, you’ve truly impressed me! But, you played your part quite well earlier, even I was fooled."
The mage player had an expression of admiration, he couldn’t stop singing Chest Hair’s praises.
"How could I have lured him otherwise? Let’s see how he escapes, caught between a rock and a hard place. I bet he’ll jump down from above and use this place as his exit! Brothers, get ready to attack!"
Chest Hair’s analysis was spot-on, and the rest of the players were also ready for battle, waiting for the ambusher to walk into their trap.
"Bang bang!"
Muffled fighting sounds came from above the cave, rejuvenating the players who had been waiting in anticipation.
"Wow, the fight has started! Sounds intense!"
The mage player revealed an excited expression as he said to Chest Hair, "They didn’t quickly dispose of him! Our four brothers are having trouble dealing with him alone, this guy seems pretty powerful!"
Chest Hair glanced at him without a word.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The intense fighting sounds were getting closer, rapidly approaching the area above Chest Hair and others.
"Come down!"
All of a sudden, the mage player yelled, and the [Fire Cannon] skill was triggered. A gigantic fireball soared up, hitting the cave wall above.
"Boom!"
"Swoosh~!" fгeewebnovёl.com
The rocky wall was human-made and couldn’t match the sturdiness of a natural one. Unable to withstand the power of the fireball explosion, it suddenly collapsed. Rocks showered down, and along with them, four players tumbled down from above.
"Kill~ Eh, where’s the person?"
To the mage player’s surprise, only his teammates had fallen, but there was no trace of the attacker.
"Guys, I’m really sorry, I messed things up, but I’ll make it right, I’ll go kill him myself!"
Seeing the hostile look from Chest Hair, the mage player said anxiously, and then bolted towards the outside, intending to leap out of the cave like the other players.
"Stand down!"
Chest Hair commanded sternly. The players guarding the entrance immediately blocked it, preventing the mage player from escaping.
"You think you can leave without my permission? Traitor!!"
Chest Hair’s words hit like a bolt from the blue, stunning the gathered players. Their gaze on the mage player became unnatural.
"Chest Hair, what nonsense are you speaking? So I made a mistake just now, are you going to pin this all on me?"
The mage player halted, turning around to angrily retort, "Yes, I’ve only recently joined the Dancing Demons Guild. But when I joined, I’ve sworn that I would live and die as a Dancing Demon! During this time, although I might not have contributed much, I’ve still worked hard, right? What gives you the right to call me a traitor?"
"I’ll take this up with Leader Dai! Let him be the judge! I can’t believe that there is no justice in this world!"
The other players whispered among themselves, surprised at the sudden plot twist. First an invader, and then a traitor appeared in quick succession. The sheer amount of shocking information left them unable to digest everything.
"Acting innocent!"
A smirk floated on Chest Hair’s burly face as he approached the mage player, his golden long knife in hand. His aura was so intimidating that the mage unconsciously stepped backward.
"You’ve been sucking up to me and fishing for information since we entered the Stone Lock Wood Bridge. I didn’t pay much attention at first, but when the player who attacked me appeared, I had a hunch."
"Hey, which eye did you use to see me contacting him? We need evidence for everything. Without it, you’re just slandering!"
Surprisingly calm, the mage player gently polished his magic wand, signaling Chest Hair to continue.
"No evidence, why would I be blabbering here? Okay, let me ask you, ’The four of us are having trouble dealing with him, this player must be quite powerful!’ You said that, didn’t you?"
"I said it, so what? This doesn’t prove anything, does it?"
The mage player scoffed, looking at Chest Hair as if he was a fool. Trying to act like a detective for no reason, was it amusing? Truly, trying to draw a tiger but ending up with a dog!
"Good that you admitted it. So, the question is, how did you know there was only one person up there?"
A flash of sternness passed through Chest Hair’s eyes as he stared unwaveringly at the mage player’s face.
"That... was just my guess! So now it’s a crime to guess wrong? Hahaha, this is a big joke!"
The mage player laughed heartily, ignoring the gazes of the other players around him.
"Covering up your inner insecurity with a smile, no problem there."
Chest Hair gave a wry smile and nodded as if deep in thought.
"You... I won’t waste my time arguing with you!"
The smile on the mage player’s face vanished, and he spoke somewhat angrily.
"You don’t have to say anything, just listen."
Chest Hair spoke with deep implications. "Before I mentioned attacking the intruder from both sides and waiting for that person to jump down from above, didn’t I? Sadly it seems to be in line with your plan. That’s why despite the risk, you acted and disrupted the plan, also signalling a warning to your accomplice. Am I right?"
"Nonsense!"
The mage player, no longer calm, has frozen his movements that were polishing his magic wand.
The surrounding players also caught on by now, their gaze towards the mage player was now filled with hostility.
