Chapter 490: Chapter 478 Identity Exposed (Two-in-One)

...

"Brother He, this magical demon soldier is clever and slippery, and quite elusive, isn’t he?"

Taciturn, leading his brothers, frustratingly hadn’t managed to seize this demon soldier. He turned and cast a dissatisfied glance towards Crane That Doesn’t Dance, a notable player on the Heavenly List.

"You’re right, they used to be easy to slaughter!"

Crane That Doesn’t Dance was also perplexed. Suddenly an idea hit him, a look of delight filled his eyes. Smiling, he said to Taciturn, "Congratulations, Taciturn. If my guess is correct, this demon might be a mutated creature, likely to drop some great loot!"

"Ha ha, a level 40 mutant? That’s almost like facing a BOSS! Let’s hope Brother He’s words ring true! This demon could very well be a mutant! Brothers, we’ve hit the jackpot! Stay focused, let’s get that prime gear and gold reward!"

Inspired by Taciturn’s words, the players fought with increased determination, and before they knew it, they had the demon surrounded.

"Ha ha ha, where could you possibly escape now? Let’s see if you can fly right out of our grasp!"

Ever since Taciturn started suspecting the demon of being a mutant, he couldn’t stop grinning. Once the demon was completely surrounded, he separated the players and quickly advanced towards it. Why would a mage fear close combat? Even a level 40 mutant didn’t scare him!

"What are you waiting for? Kill!"

Taciturn wasn’t foolish enough to try and go one on one with this demon. This wasn’t about personal heroics. In online gaming, the key was to win decisively, then move on. What if another team came along, or if more monsters were spawned as a result of the kill? Wouldn’t that bring joyous victory to a tragic end?

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

The magic attacks from the mages burst open like fireworks on the demon’s body. The warriors also kept up the pace, slashing at the demon relentlessly.

It didn’t take long for the demon to falter. You could tell by its frantic eyes.

Suddenly,

The demon went berserk, breaking free from its onslaught of attackers, and leaped into the air, exuding a dark glow.

"Trying to act tough even in the face of death, how ridiculous! Mages, take aim and shoot it down!"

Taciturn laughed heartily as though in the next moment, this demon would explode in a shower of countless equipment and gold coins, like treasures strewn from the heavens.

"Hold your fire!"

Crane That Doesn’t Dance urgently tried to stop them, but unfortunately, he had no control over the team. He could only watch as dozens of spells bombarded the demon.

The demon, encased in a dark glow, upon being hit by the spells, strangely regained a large portion of its health. The impact sent it flying backward.

At that moment, a shriek that pierced the eardrums burst from the demon. The sound broke through the barrier of space, transmitting in all directions.

"Holy crap, what’s going on? That sound was so piercing, it gave me a scare!"

Taciturn massaged his ears, murmuring with some annoyance.

"You’re messing up big, and now you’ve done it! You better run now, don’t blame me if it’s too late to regret it later!"

Crane That Doesn’t Dance was pissed. He intended to make a run for it, but considering the rewards comming up, he had to suppress his frustration. Just as he was about to go, he warned again, "This demon has triggered its call for reinforcements. More demon creatures will be rushing here soon. If we don’t leave now, don’t start whining if things get out of control!"

"Let’s kill this guy first, he’s almost dead! Not much time will pass. Let’s focus our firepower, collect the loot, and then escape! Otherwise, wouldn’t all this killing have been pointless?"

Taciturn focused all his attention on the demon in front of him, knowing how critical the situation was. He instructed the players beside him to charge forward.

"Grandmaster Crane, why did that thing restore its health just now?"

An impatient warrior player came to Crane’s side and asked. Understanding this could be useful for them in the future.

"You’re more observant than your guild master."

Showing no expression, Crane That Doesn’t Dance glanced at the warrior, placed his sights back on the battlefield, and softly replied, "It’s a unique healing skill that the demons possess. If a magic demon gets attacked by magic, it heals; if a warrior demon gets attacked physically, it heals. But it’s not too hard to deal with, just attack it with the opposite type once it is covered in dark glow to dispel the healing!"

"Unfortunately, you were all too busy attacking without considering this. That’s what led to this passive situation. You’re on your own, and remember, I warned you when it gets out of control!"

Crane That Doesn’t Dance had no intention of helping and continually observed his surroundings, alert for any lurking danger.

"Grandmaster Crane, what you’re saying is too mysterious. Killing a minor demon takes less than a minute, it’s not like we’re going to lose much time."

"Whatever you say."

After saying this, Crane That Doesn’t Dance fell silent, watching the surrounding area restlessly.

He had experienced such a sudden situation once before. Back then, a single shriek like this had brought hundreds of demons down on them, and their team had almost been wiped out. That was why he so desperately wanted Taciturn to give up on this demon and flee. Unfortunately, his advice fell on deaf ears.

"Good intentions taken for granted, you won’t learn until you’re dead!"
