Chapter 463: Chapter 455: What Needs to be Faced, Eventually Comes

"I can’t wait any longer!"

Feeling as if he was dancing on the edge of a knife, Su Ran realized that one wrong step could cost him everything. Balancing his options carefully, he reluctantly abandoned the mysterious mud coffin. With the Illusion Demon’s black cloak on his body and other gear equipped correctly, Su Ran firmly grasped the teleportation circle. All of a sudden, he flopped onto the gleaming portal and in a flash, he disappeared into the hidden space.

"Thud!"

In the Imperial City’s royal palace, the residence of Daoist Wang, a disheveled figure appeared, falling ungracefully face-first.

"I’m finally back alive!"

Getting up from the ground, Su Ran could finally breathe easier. He looked around but found no sign of Daoist Wang. A sense of relief washed over him – at least he was saved from extended explanations.

Without any hesitation, Su Ran crushed the Town Portal Scroll he held. A burst of light flashed, and he was now in his territories, the Skeleton Village.

"Phew, it feels like a second birth!"

As Su Ran expelled the negative vibes, the strung-out nerves finally relaxed and fatigue swept over him like a tidal wave, making him flop down on the ground, covers blown.

"It’s a shame about that mud coffin!"

Expressing regret, Su Ran mused aloud. Had he managed to keep the mud coffin, the mission would’ve been a perfect success!

That said, the mission wasn’t a total loss. After all, he’d gathered quite a few treasures, even managing to get his hands on an elixir that had disguised itself as a Dream Seeking Mirror. Why should he be unsatisfied?

As for that Skill Elixir, Su Ran harbored no expectations for it to cure his sickness. Still, if it could teach him a skill or two in reality, his survival chances would increase. He wouldn’t be passive anymore when dealing with scoundrels, becoming a ripe target for easy bullying.

However, the legendary elixir was sealed. Su Ran was at a complete loss as to how to unseal it. Even so, he wasn’t in a hurry. He knew that if he tried to bring it back to reality, the authorities would find out eventually. If they discovered that he’d acquired two mirrors capable of fulfilling dreams in a short amount of time, his privacy would be at stake, and he could kiss his freedom goodbye!

No way he could compete with the state. He was a rookie compared to it!

Having made up his mind, Su Ran then turned his attention to the large chunk of ice.

"Great White Shark, can’t wait anymore? Wait a little longer. After my tasks are complete, I’ll upgrade the mining skill level. After being sealed for so many years, wouldn’t you mind waiting a few more days?"

Su Ran said, scratching his shinning skull, upon seeing the vicious expression of the shark’s corpse in the ice block, next to a toothy grin.

But. how could the level seven mining skill be so hard to level up? He had already dug so many graves, but he was still far from leveling up his skill.

However, Su Ran didn’t consider it a big deal. When his mining skill was upgraded, he could rescue the Great White Shark. Since it couldn’t escape from his territory and there was no time limit, why rush?

Just as Su Ran was lost in his thoughts, a buzzing sound pulled him back to reality.

Turned out, he had received a message from a friend.

"It must be Siying. She’s probably looking for a result."

Su Ran narrowed his eyes. Aware of the fact that his skeletal entity, equivalent to his second body, went offline during the second reincarnation, he realized that Siying would probably want to explore the details.

However, to Su Ran’s surprise, the message was from Black Crow, a friend he hadn’t been in touch with for a few days.

"Hey, brother Overturning Water, where have you been these days? Why haven’t you responded to the news?"

"Spit it out if you have words, let it rip if you have a fart."

Su Ran wasn’t one for small talk and preferred working to the point.

"Heh, you get me. Come on, keep me company. I’ve just been dumped!"

"How did that happen? Weren’t you about to get married? I’m caught off guard by this whirlwind of events!"

Su Ran could tell from Black Crow’s tone that he was in despair.

"Don’t laugh. I went to her house at noon today and found a hair strand on her teeth retainer! And what outraged me was, the strand was curly!!! With my fiery temper, a few words busted us. We split on spot!"

Su Ran was dumbfounded. The girl should’ve at least cleaned her mouth after eating. Now she was in trouble, wasn’t she?

"You’re too irrational in dealing with things."

"You should be thankful. I controlled myself. Otherwise, with my vicious punch, she wouldn’t be able to get out of bed for half a month!"

"You could let her rinse her mouth with a coke. Wouldn’t that work if she mended her ways? I remember you once said that she was your favorite woman."

"Forget it. Just mentioning her makes me nauseous. Solitude is preferable to her company. I’ll consider marriage in a few years. But, what’s a coke got to do with anything?"

"You’ll understand if you think about it. The meaning is self-explanatory."

Chuckling, Su Ran continued with his metacommunication.

"Stop bullshitting. Come on, run this copy with me. Let’s vent together!"

"Do it yourself. I’m busy doing timed tasks in these few days!"

...

After chatting a bit more with Black Crow, Su Ran finally got rid of him. He was about to head to Heaven and Earth Bank to ask Yin Si, the crafty merchant about the seal on the Skill Elixir. He was relaxed about unsealing it but nevertheless, needed to know how. Before he could get to it, however, his friend notification beeped again.

"Overturning Water, come to the warehouse in Imperial City."

Su Ran read the message and smirked. The message was sent by none other than Siying, his employer.

Couldn’t hold back so soon? I thought she’d give up entirely!

Though Su Ran didn’t want to honor the call, he couldn’t reject it. A contract that was notarized by the system was a contract he couldn’t escape. He had to confront it. Yet, Su Ran was unphased. The mummy had generously donated a Dream Seeking Mirror to him. Even though it was a fake, using it here was most fit.

"Hold on a moment. I’ll be there soon."

Su Ran quickly replied, grabbed a few Random Teleportation Scrolls, and flew towards the Imperial City of the Human Race.

"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!"

After consuming seven to eight bundles of Random Teleportation Scrolls, Su Ran finally reached the human race’s royal city warehouse.

"You’re here."

Siying, as always, looked stunning. She stood out like a wild rose dappled with dewdrops, drawing the attention of most male players.

"I’ve arrived."

Su Ran nodded in response, not speaking further.

"Let’s go inside my warehouse first."

Siying activated her access rights, formed a team with Su Ran, and they entered her warehouse space together.

"You’ve completed my task."

Fixing her gaze on the facial display mask Su Ran wore, Siying suddenly announced.

On these words, Su Ran was taken aback. It sure did make sense, though. The mission space had collapsed, leading to the disappearance of the mission she had undertaken. Wasn’t this a sign that he had successfully completed her task?!
