Chapter 1229: Chapter 1142: Pyramid?

"Clack clack clack." ƒrēenovelkiss.com

A sound of gears turning rose, and that ancient stone gate, sealed for who knows how many years, slowly opened, revealing a pitch-dark entrance. A dangerous aura scattered about, waiting for the destined to arrive.

Where no path had welcomed visitors’ sweep, dense doors now open for you alone. The opportunity lay right before his eyes; it all hinged on whether he had the guts to enter.

"Damn it, does this mean I’m being forced into a corner?!"

Even now, Chest Hair couldn’t misunderstand the system’s intent, but even with this knowledge, he couldn’t change the plot’s course. In the end, he couldn’t escape the temptation of the treasure. With a hardened resolve, he plunged into the pyramid.

...

"Haha, so many graves, this is just awesome, it would be worth digging here for an entire year!"

Su Ran looked at the countless graves spread out before him like innumerable treasure chests, waiting for him to excavate. Delighted to the point of grinning ear to ear, he leveled several graves in a short time. The ghosts that spawned were all beaten to death by his pet, not causing him much trouble at all.

However.

Before Su Ran could revel in his handiwork, he accidentally discovered that the graves around him had all vanished.

"What’s going on? Wasn’t I just digging up a few graves? Come on, system, aren’t you being a bit too stingy?"

Undeterred, Su Ran glanced around and then realised the entire graveyard had disappeared without a trace, razed to the ground by the system, even the big holes he had just dug were seamlessly filled in by the system. This sudden development was a little hard for Su Ran to accept.

It was as if Nezha, ready to fight three hundred rounds, suddenly deflated, how disappointing was that?

"Frustrating, I was about to dig out the coffin, even just five more minutes would have been good!"

Su Ran swung his hoe through the air in frustration and then tucked it away, caring little for appearances as he sat cross-legged on the ground, waiting for the next round of graves to spawn.

With no one to disturb him now, he began to inventory the ritual objects he had just excavated. Notably, he had luckily unearthed two Infinite Money plants, which were very useful. Their importance lay in not just their value in the domain but also in their ability to be exchanged for Undead profession skills, which of course caught Su Ran’s attention.

"If I could just exchange it for a Magic Technique, that’d be totally amazing!"

The more Su Ran thought about it, the more excited he became, quickly shaking off his previous dejection and resuming his search for the treasures he had just uncovered.

To his disappointment, however, the rest were merely ordinary items, and even the coffins he obtained were Decayed Coffins, totally unworthy of the great reputation the graves had!

"What a pity, I could even see the purple sandalwood of the last grave, if I could have dug that up, it would have been a top-quality coffin!"

No sooner had this thought come to mind than his melancholy flooded back. Su Ran saw a large patch of black plants sprout beneath his feet and the whole terrain had radically changed, showing no signs of graves respawning. Realising there was no point in waiting any longer, he got to his feet and walked off into the distance.

"Right, I should check if that grave is still there. If it exists, I’m going right in to claim that coffin!"

Su Ran couldn’t stop thinking about that particular coffin. In his opinion, with players trapped inside, the terrain should not disappear, but the question was whether they could have lasted until now or not.

After all, if it were him, spending several hours solving a maze, he admitted he wouldn’t be up for it.

But, as he reached the familiar coordinates, he saw that the grave that once was had now become flat ground, with not a single trace left. If he hadn’t experienced it himself, he would never believe a grave had ever been there.

"Looks like those guys had a rough time, a second of sympathy for them."

Su Ran shook his head, pitying the players who hadn’t managed to enjoy the hidden storyline because he had beaten the BOSS. Thinking about it now, it did seem a bit unfair.

"Forget it, the coffin has no fate with me; one can’t force it."

Revisiting the old place, Su Ran merely sighed briefly before he left. He was eager to see what other opportunities were hidden inside Pet Island. If he could get an exceptional undead as a pet, that would be sweet.

Wait a second.

It then occurred to Su Ran that his pet space was full, and to get more pets, he had to perform Fusion. If it weren’t for Lin Yuqing’s cry for help, he would have completed the Fusion long ago. Why wait until now?

There’s no use complaining. He just had to take things one step at a time.

"Eh? A pyramid?"

As Su Ran continued forward, a high-energy alert popped up, and a pyramid around seven to eight meters tall appeared before his eyes.

"What the hell, aren’t pyramids supposed to be in Egypt? How come there’s one here? Where’s the Sphinx?"

Su Ran surveyed his surroundings with confusion but couldn’t spot any characteristic buildings that matched it.

The first thought that came to Su Ran’s mind regarding this mysterious pyramid was to start digging!

"I wonder what treasures I could unearth from this pyramid. It would be fun if I dug up a mummy."

Su Ran chuckled and headed over with a hoe in hand. This pyramid, built of brick and stone, was many times harder than an ordinary grave, but under his level 8 mining skill, all was but a cloud of dust!

However.

Reality is always less generous than our dreams. When Su Ran swung his hoe, he hadn’t found anything yet when suddenly a massive suction force generated from under the pyramid. Before he could react, he was sucked in and plunged into darkness.

Once undisturbed by outsiders, the entire pyramid returned to deadly silence. Paper offerings on top fluttered without wind, as if mocking these two players who overestimated themselves or perhaps narrating something, resonant with the vicissitudes of ages.

"Thump."

Su Ran fell onto an unknown terrain, and due to the sudden incident, he hadn’t even managed to retract his starter hoe, looking quite disheveled.

"Damn, this is just like that tomb earlier!"

Su Ran tossed the hoe into his storage space before complaining discontentedly, "If there’s a grave that I shouldn’t dig, please put up a warning sign. All these scares, are you trying to give me a heart attack because it’s fun for you?"

"If I end up with a cracked butt, I am never letting this go!"

After a harsh remark, Su Ran felt much better. He didn’t care if the system heard him; he had spoken his mind, and that was enough.

He summoned most of his pets to circle around and guard himself. As for the Eternal Poison Dragon, Su Ran had no intention of summoning it for the time being; after all, using it meant reducing good will, and there was no need to use it unless it was a critical moment.

"Woof woof!"

Wang Cai shook his body, transforming into the shape of a wolfdog, wagging his tail back and forth, waiting for his master to mount.

"I really want to see what’s inside here...."

Before Su Ran could finish speaking, a piercing scream came from deep inside the terrain, startling him. He hastily mounted Wang Cai and shouted, "Let’s go!"

How clever Wang Cai was, bursting into speed immediately, dashing toward the source of the sound.
