One Useless Rebirth-Chapter 221: Investment (1)
Translator: Sissy That Walk
Thinking about that possible outcome, He Bai picked himself up from the bed and went through the script carefully.
The storyline of “Wolf Venom” was a bit predictable, a group of super heroes gathered together and worked towards the goal of destroying the beast called Wolf Venom. They grew together as a group and as individual characters, and they successfully saved the world in the end.
The movie He Bai had watched in his previous life had five heroes, representing a country located in east, west, north, west and the central area. As for their roles in the team, they were shield, priest, thrust, covering and assassin respectively, an organic team that worked perfectly together, seemed like a convincing setting.
While in the script he was reading now, it was six countries instead of five, the one that did not exist in the movie last life was an island country in the polar region. The isolated island country was mysterious, they had never been a part any political matters initiated by other countries until the emerging of Wolf Venom, the whole continent was in danger. They sent an emissary to represent their country joining the course of defeating Wolf Venom initiated by other five countries.
While this emissary was not much of a fighter.
He Bai was dumbfounded seeing this, he rubbed his face out of frustration, ‘not a fighter, boring’.
No wonder other characters all had some introduction lines, but the introduction part of the emissary was blank.
Could that be why this character did not appear in the finished movie in his previous life? He could not fight?
With that in mind, he kept reading the script.
In the script, this emissary was a symbol of peace and love, he was greatly respected as soon as he met the other five heroes due to his aura and charm, but never had he let that get into his head, he always kept his feet down. Later on, people changed their attitude towards him as soon as they found out he was not a fighter, they looked down upon him even, but he took all the disrespect with a smile. His attitude towards the people and the world had never changed, and so was his goal—- to destroy Wolf Venom and protect the people.
He Bai kept reading the script, the other five heroes almost had an internal strife due to different perspectives and conflicts of interest not long after they started their adventure. The emissary, who had always been neutral and impartial took advantage of that identity to mediate their problems and lift up the morale, while he was mistreated and misunderstood by some members along the journey.
He Bai gagged, again.
So, this emissary was the pushover, the doormat of this team? Or to put it nicely, he was the adhesive?
He Bai now was not pissed off by the fact that the character did not appear in the finished movie in his last life. This character did not sound like he had got a lot of personal charisma.
As the plot went on, the team leader made a series of impulsive decisions when they were in danger and that almost cost the whole team! As such a critical moment, the emissary coped the situation with calmness and tact, he founded a way out for the whole team. After that terrifying experience, the team leader became more modest to his team members, he began to listen to them attentively and more willing to work together to look for ways out.
He Bai frowned, calmness and tact? What the heck?
The movie he watched in his previous life, when the heroes were faced with the first crisis the whole team coped with it beautifully thanks to the team leader, he had truly won the team’s hearts by showing how great his leadership was at critical moments, which was also a big turning point for the plot, because the whole team began to trust each other and work together actively after that crisis.
So, the great leadership abilities that the team leader had demonstrated was actually a plan B for making up for the loss of the emissary?
Hmm, the script he was reading now was basically the whole team made mistakes together and grew together with the emissary from the mistakes VS the film from his previous life where the team leader carried the whole team along the journey.
He Bai thought the audience would love the former version better, it allowed more character developments.
With that in mind he kept reading.
As the plot further unfolded, the resourceful emissary showed more leader qualities along the way… …
It was so different from the movie he had watched in his previous life.
After He Bai finished reading, he was totally shocked. The emissary who had always been zen about everything in the beginning turned out to be the actual leader of the whole team, he was the brain and the soul of the whole team!
He Bai was now reflecting on the plots of the movie and the reviews he had seen in his previous life, there were a lot of comments about the incompleteness of the storyline, He Bai now realized all those imperfections were due to the lack of the emissary!
Almost each and every team member had done something that did not fit their characteristics, it almost went to a point where everyone looked contradictory to some extent.
Now He Bai began to understand why the characters all had made decisions that seemed contradict with what they had always stood for.
He even felt sorry for the screenplay writers in his previous life, he knew what kind of struggle they had gone through.
And he was convinced that this character was not being deleted due to this character’s incompetency, it was quite the opposite if anything. The whole crew must really struggled finding the right cast for the emissary, they just had a really hard time finding the perfect actor, just like what Cooper had told him.
It was February when Cooper met Di Qiuhe at the backstage of a runway show, now it was already June, they had been looking for the right cast for this role for at least a good four months now!
They just refused to settle for less, they wanted every part of the movie to be perfectly done! What a great crew!
They could have looked for a young actor in Hollywood instead of insisting on looking for a mysterious Asian boy across the world.
Click.
The door was pushed open gently, it was Di Qiuhe. Seeing puppy who was lost in thought with the script in his hand, Di Qiuhe chuckled, he walked towards He Bai and asked him, “What’s going on? Are you hungry yet, let’s get something yummy for your belly.”
He Bai caught hold of Di Qiuhe’s hand and looked at him in the eye, he said this in an earnest way, “Qiuhe, do take the part! If the crew is not well funded, I suggest that you invest the movie, you gotta trust me on this one!”
“Wolf Venom” became a blockbuster in his previous life even though there were some flaws in the storyline and settings due to the lack of the emissary, surely it would become more successful in this life with the part of emissary being completely added.
He Bai firmly believed this version of script was way better than the version without the emissary, he believed all the characters would have better character developments due to the emissary’s presence.
