One Piece: King of the World-Chapter 326: The Wrath of the King of the Sea! (
In the New World, on Onigashima in Wano Country, a place that Kaido took over more than a decade ago now stands the base of the Beasts Pirates, much like how Whole Cake Island serves as the base for the Big Mom Pirates.
Over the past two years, Kaido hasn't done anything out of the ordinary. He hasn't tried to kill himself, hasn't picked a fight with Whitebeard, and hasn't caused trouble for the Marines.
He's been lying low in Wano, while absorbing some of the strength left behind by the Big Mom Pirates. For example, individuals like Perospero and Smoothie have now pledged their allegiance to Kaido's banner.
Kaido hasn't forced them to do anything. Their relationship is more like a mutually beneficial partnership: they work for Kaido, and in return, he provides them with protection.
Kaido even promised them that if Charlotte Linlin were to return to the seas one day, they could go back and rejoin the Big Mom Pirates. But Kaido himself knew this was just empty reassurance to keep them from losing hope.
Impel Down, does anyone just break out of that place so easily?
If it were that simple, it wouldn't have remained secure for 800 years. Kaido never seriously believed that Charlotte Linlin could escape.

Kaido is a heavy drinker. He often drinks himself into a stupor, then stumbles out to cause havoc. Because of this habit, everyone remains on high alert whenever he starts drinking. If Kaido ever went on a drunken rampage in Wano, the destruction would be catastrophic.
Today, Kaido had already drunk a bit in the morning. By noon, with nothing better to do, he reached for his gourd, ready to drink again.
Wano doesn't openly receive news from the outside world, and newsbirds avoid the area entirely to avoid getting shot down by the locals. However, as one of the Four Emperors, Kaido naturally has ways to stay informed about the world's happenings.
Just as Kaido tilted his gourd for another sip, Jack burst into the hall, clutching a newspaper in his hand.
Kaido, annoyed at having his drinking interrupted, looked up and saw Jack. Among the three Calamities, the strongest was King, followed by Queen. Jack was comparatively weaker, but his brute strength and reckless nature endeared him to Kaido.
Jack shared Kaido's temperament, impulsive, headstrong, and utterly fearless. Whether he could win or not was irrelevant; Jack would always charge in headfirst. It was that bold attitude that Kaido appreciated most.
"What's got you so worked up, Jack?" Kaido asked, frowning. "You wanna have a drink with me?"
Jack ignored the offer and thrust the newspaper forward. "Boss Kaido, something big's happened!"
"Hm?" Kaido squinted at Jack, his irritation fading slightly. "What's the news?"
"It's the Marines—they've declared war on Whitebeard!" Jack said, his voice tense. "Look here—they've captured one of Whitebeard's division commanders and plan to execute him publicly at Marineford. You know what that means, right? Whitebeard won't sit back. He'll go to war!"
Hearing this, Kaido instantly sobered up. His eyes sharpened with interest. Chaos and conflict were things he lived for, nothing excited him more than a large-scale war.
He snatched the newspaper and scanned it quickly. His lips curled into a wild grin. "The War of the Best… it's coming." He let out a deep, rumbling laugh. "That old man Newgate won't just sit still. He'll definitely go to Marineford!"
"What should we do, Boss?" Jack asked eagerly.
Kaido downed two more gulps of sake, then wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. "What do you think? We're going to join the fun, of course!"
"Should we bring everyone?" Jack asked, practically vibrating with excitement.
Kaido shook his head. "No time. We're too far from Marineford. If we try to gather the whole crew, the war will be over by the time we get there. Just round up King, Queen, and a handful of others. We'll make our move now!"
Wano sits deep in the New World, far from Marineford. A large fleet would take more than a month to get there, and by then, the battle would be long finished.
Kaido was never one for subtlety. He had no strategic plan, just a desire to smash into the battlefield, destroy anything in his path, and leave his mark on history. The idea of crashing Marineford, perhaps even taking Whitebeard's head in front of the world, made his blood boil with excitement.
"Yes, Boss Kaido!" Jack shouted, turning to leave.
Kaido grinned, lifting his sake gourd once more. "War… this is going to be fun!"
---
Meanwhile, aboard the Moby Dick, the flagship of the Whitebeard Pirates, Edward Newgate—Whitebeard—stood in silence. His face was dark, his expression like a thundercloud about to break.
His massive hand crumpled the newspaper into a ball. His knuckles turned white, and veins bulged beneath his skin as he roared a single name:
"TEACH!!!"
The moment the word left his mouth, the atmosphere shifted. A wave of overwhelming Conqueror's Haki burst from his body, spreading across the sea.
The clear sky darkened as storm clouds gathered overhead. The wind howled across the deck, and the previously calm ocean roared with rising waves.
Small waves became large swells; large swells grew into towering tsunamis. The ship itself creaked beneath the pressure of the sea's fury.
"Father! Calm down!" Marco shouted, stepping forward to steady the old man.
Newgate didn't care about the Marines' tactics. A soldier using a criminal as bait was nothing unusual. The Marines were simply doing their job, and Whitebeard had never expected honor from them.
But Teach... Teach was different.
That traitorous bastard had betrayed his family, had betrayed him. A son leaving his father's protection was one thing, as Kozuki Oden had done years before. But to kill a brother for a Devil Fruit and then hand over Ace to the Marines in exchange for the title of Warlord of the Sea?
That was unforgivable.
Teach had defiled the honor of the Whitebeard Pirates. He had spat on their family and their pride. That betrayal burned in Whitebeard's chest like molten iron.
"No one… NO ONE can humiliate me, Whitebeard, like this!" Newgate bellowed.
