Chapter 189 - 189 Dark Fruit Finally Appeared!

"Is it really Roger?"

That was the first thought that crossed Lucifer's mind.

After all, only the Roger Pirates had reached Raftel.

The giant king looked at Lucifer and said, "Your Excellency Lucifer, the Kingdom of Giants no longer possesses the Road Poneglyph."

The implication was clear—he wanted Lucifer to leave.

Lucifer's presence posed too great a threat to the kingdom, and the giant king had no desire to keep such a dangerous figure in his land any longer than necessary.

Lucifer, of course, understood what the giant king meant. He smiled lightly and said, "Since what I seek is not here, I will naturally take my leave."

The giant king had just breathed a sigh of relief when Lucifer spoke again.

"Your Majesty, have you considered the future?"

"What do you mean?"

Lucifer's expression remained calm as he said, "The coming era will be one of chaos and upheaval. A storm is brewing, one that will sweep across the world, and no one will be able to escape it."

"If the Kingdom of Giants does not board the right ship in time, it will inevitably be swallowed by the tides of history."

Lucifer cast a deep look at the giant king and added, "That is all I have to say. Your Majesty should think carefully about your decision."

With that, he leaped onto the back of the massive green dragon, and in an instant, they soared into the sky, disappearing into the horizon.

The giant king watched Lucifer's retreating figure with a solemn expression, lost in thought for a long time.

"Father, what did Lucifer mean just now?" the giant prince asked.

The giant king did not answer immediately. Instead, he sighed deeply and muttered to himself.

"The vanished flames are rekindling, and the world will soon face another drastic change."

He understood Lucifer's words well.

Lucifer was forcing the Kingdom of Giants to make a choice.

Sooner or later, the Nether Pirates would rule the entire New World. In this brutal sea, where the strong prey on the weak, survival meant submission.

"Perhaps... it is time to decide," the giant king murmured.

Though the Kingdom of Giants was known as the strongest nation in the world, he knew that against Lucifer, they had no chance of victory.

Opposing Lucifer meant only one thing—death.

High above the clouds, Lucifer stood atop Qinglong, his expression unreadable.

He was in a foul mood—this trip had not yielded what he had hoped for.

"It seems I'll have to visit Rayleigh after all."

The last Road Poneglyph had been taken by the Red Hair Pirates, and the one most likely to know its whereabouts was none other than Silvers Rayleigh.

Originally, Lucifer had intended to let the retired old man live in peace for a while longer.

But now, it seemed that was no longer an option.

Fate had already set the course. There was no escaping it.

Buru Buru Buru! Buru Buru Buru!

Suddenly, the Den Den Mushi rang.

Lucifer pulled it out and answered. On the other end, Enel's voice came through.

"Captain Lucifer, we've confirmed that Fire Fist Ace is still alive. He joined the Whitebeard Pirates."

In the background, Lucifer could hear Pizarro and Waldo jeering while Shiryu of the Rain let out an irritated growl.

Clearly, Shiryu had let Ace escape, and now the others were mocking him for it.

"Keep monitoring the Whitebeard Pirates," Lucifer instructed. "Mark Fire Fist Ace for elimination, but leave him for now. We'll deal with him when the war begins."

A mere Ace was insignificant in the grand scheme of things—Lucifer didn't take him seriously.

"Understood," Enel responded.

Lucifer hung up the Den Den Mushi, a pensive look in his eyes.

Fire Fist Ace was truly lucky. Despite being gravely injured and thrown into the sea by Shiryu, he had survived.

Not only that, but he had ended up joining the Whitebeard Pirates—just as he had in the original timeline.

It seemed as if fate itself had a script it refused to alter.

But it was not just Ace who was making moves.

The Whitebeard Pirates, facing the rapidly expanding might of the Nether Pirates, had begun rallying their forces.

Whitebeard was not just gathering the crews under his command; he was also absorbing wandering pirates who drifted into his territory.

Unlike other emperors, Whitebeard had a generous heart. As long as pirates didn't cause trouble in his waters, he did not attack them.

In the past, this made Whitebeard's territory a relatively safe haven for independent pirates.

But now, things were different.

Against the overwhelming force of the Nether Pirates, Whitebeard and his crew had no choice but to expand and strengthen their ranks.

Every division captain had been sent out—some to recruit allies, others to subjugate rogue pirate groups.

Among them was Blackbeard Teach.

Unlike the others, he had no intention of strengthening Whitebeard's forces.

No—this was the perfect opportunity for him to slip away.

And he wasn't about to let it go to waste.

On the deck, Thatch, the captain of the Fourth Division, was introducing their current target.

"Our opponent is McConaughey and his gang. Their captain, Vera McConaughey, has a bounty of 347 million Berries. He possesses a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit, the Glass-Glass Fruit, which makes him quite formidable."

"If he can be subdued, we'll subdue him. If not, we'll wipe them all out."

"This is a critical moment. All hostile forces in these seas must be eradicated!"

With an all-out war on the horizon, intelligence was more crucial than ever.

To ensure there were no spies lurking within the Whitebeard Pirates' territory, they had to eliminate every potential threat.

Better to kill the wrong person than let an enemy slip away!

Though the Whitebeard Pirates shared a close-knit bond internally, they were merciless toward their foes.

Without ruthlessness, one couldn't survive in this world.

The Whitebeard Pirates had dominated the seas for decades, leaving behind mountains of corpses and rivers of blood.

Countless fallen pirates had contributed to their legendary reputation.

"Alright, boys! Let's set sail!"

"Aye!!!"

A chorus of excited roars erupted as the pirates readied for battle.

That night, a fierce clash erupted in a remote, uninhabited stretch of ocean.

Vera McConaughey and his crew fought hard but were ultimately defeated by Thatch and his men.

McConaughey was a tough man, refusing to surrender even when cornered. In the end, Thatch beheaded him.

Half of his crew was slaughtered, while the remaining members surrendered and were absorbed into the Whitebeard Pirates.

"Captain Thatch, come take a look at this!"

A pirate ran out of the cabin, holding up a peculiar fruit with a look of excitement.

The fruit was deep purple, covered in intricate spiral patterns, and bore a resemblance to a strange pineapple.

"Oh? A Devil Fruit?"

Thatch's eyes lit up as he recognized the rare treasure.

Compared to gold and jewels, a Devil Fruit was undoubtedly the most valuable loot.

"I've never seen this type before."

He turned the fruit over in his hands, studying it closely.

"Let's take it back and figure out what ability it holds."

"Hahaha! Maybe it's a Logia-type!"

Some of the pirates laughed at the thought.

"That's right! If those weaklings out there can get Logia powers, then we should be able to as well!" ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

"If it's a strong ability, Captain Thatch will be even more powerful in the upcoming war!"

The Whitebeard Pirates had a rule—whoever found a Devil Fruit first had the right to eat it.

Since Thatch led this mission, he had the first claim. If he chose not to eat it, others could compete for it.

Thatch had never eaten a Devil Fruit before, but now, on the eve of a great battle, it felt like fate guiding him.

The surrounding pirates congratulated him, unaware of the shadow lurking behind them.

Blackbeard Teach stood silently behind Thatch, his lips curled into an eerie grin.

It wasn't just a weird smile—it was filled with twisted excitement and barely contained greed.

His eyes were locked onto the Devil Fruit in Thatch's hands, burning with desire.

RUMBLE!

A sudden clap of thunder echoed across the sky, and a streak of lightning split the darkness.

The bright flash illuminated Blackbeard's face, fully revealing his ferocious expression.

"The Dark-Dark Fruit... It has finally appeared!"

Yes.

The fruit in Thatch's hands was the very same one Blackbeard had been searching for his entire life.

He had memorized every detail from the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia—its appearance was burned into his mind.

For the Dark-Dark Fruit, Blackbeard was willing to do anything.

That night, Thatch and his men held a banquet to celebrate their victory.

Everyone drank heavily, and soon, many pirates lay passed out across the deck.

In the dead of night, Blackbeard quietly entered Thatch's cabin.

"Thatch, what are you doing here?"

"The banquet's not over yet?"

Thatch wasn't the least bit wary of Blackbeard.

After all, he saw him as just another trusted veteran of the Whitebeard Pirates.
