Chapter 247: The Hero’s Arrival
The atmosphere above Marineford was oppressive to the breaking point. A suffocating wave of terror was gathering frantically within Shiki’s left eye.
Deep in the ice crater, Sakazuki struggled to lift his head. Blood streamed down his forehead, pasting one eye shut, but he couldn’t spare a moment to wipe it. His Observation Haki was screaming a frantic warning.
Beep—!!!
It was as if a maximum-level air raid siren was blaring in his mind. The intense premonition of death gripped his heart like a cold hand—a terror a hundred times worse than facing Whitebeard’s quakes!
"What the hell is that thing..."
Sakazuki clenched his teeth, his pupils contracting violently. He stared fixedly at Shiki’s crimson left eye. The three black tomoe were spinning at a speed that defied logic, finally merging into a black triangle that seemed capable of swallowing light itself.
Hum!
The surrounding space began to whine, overwhelmed. It wasn’t shaking. It wasn’t twisting. It was a pure, extreme sensation of... peeling. As if that specific patch of space was being forcibly "excavated" from the world by an invisible force! 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"Dodge..."
I must dodge!
Sakazuki’s body instinctively tried to elementalize and flee. But in the next second, he discovered with horror that he couldn’t move. A pressure vast beyond imagination, like an invisible mountain, pinned him firmly to the ground.
"It’s over, Magma Brat."
In the sky, the Golden Lion’s lips curled into a cruel arc. His wild, dancing golden hair looked like Medusa’s snakes, radiating a desperate, evil aura.
"Consider it an honor to die beneath these ’Eyes of God’!"
"Pupil Technique: Ame-no-Ohabari!!!"
Shiki’s left eye snapped open. His gaze focused precisely on Sakazuki’s location.
Crack!
There was no warning. No sound.
It wasn’t a slash. It was a spatial fault. Like an invisible pair of scissors cutting a slit into the canvas of the world. Everything along the path—air, dust, light, even sound—was cleanly severed the moment it touched that rift!
Annihilated!
"I’m going to die..."
Sakazuki’s pupils shrank to the size of pinpricks. In this moment, the Marine Admiral who upheld "Absolute Justice" felt true despair for the first time.
...
Meanwhile, on the massive cluster of floating islands above Marineford.
Tens of thousands of pirates crowded the edges, waving their weapons in a frenzy. They were the remnants of the Golden Lion Pirates, the desperadoes who had once followed Shiki to conquer the seas. Seeing the Marine Admiral beaten senseless by their Admiral, they fell into delirious excitement.
"Did you see that?! That is Admiral Shiki’s power!"
"What Marine Admiral? What Highest Combat Power? In front of the Admiral, he’s a joke!"
"Jihahahaha! Too strong! Not only did the Admiral’s legs grow back, his strength is even more terrifying than twenty years ago!"
A strange man with clown paint on his face danced around, leading the cheers. It was Dr. Indigo, Shiki’s confidant. He looked down at the terrifying spatial rift with eyes full of fanatical worship.
"As long as we follow the Admiral, this world will be ours sooner or later!"
"Sink Marine Headquarters into the sea!"
"Kill all the Marines!"
"Golden Lion! Golden Lion! Golden Lion!"
The deafening cheers resonated through the clouds, celebrating a victory that seemed already won.
"Damn it..."
Sakazuki closed his eyes in despair. He wasn’t resigned. He hadn’t yet enforced thorough justice. He hadn’t exterminated all the pirate trash. How could he die here? How could he die at the hands of a remnant from the old era?
Just as the end seemed inevitable—
BOOM!!!
A deafening explosion detonated right beside Sakazuki’s ear.
Immediately after, a heatwave of berserk energy swept through the ice crater. Sakazuki snapped his eyes open.
A burly figure stood before him. The broad Justice coat snapped violently in the gale. The word "Justice" on the back seemed incomparably tall in that moment.
"That is..."
Sakazuki froze.
The newcomer didn’t draw a sword. He didn’t use any Devil Fruit ability. He simply raised a fist pitch-black as ink—a fist wrapped in dark red Haki and trailing visible streams of white airflow!
He punched straight into that spatial rift capable of severing the world.
"Fist Bone: Sage Art: Meteor Smash!!!"
Thump—!!!
The moment the fist collided with the spatial rift, the world seemed to pause for a second. Then, an indescribable shockwave exploded outward in a ring!
Crack, crack, crack!
The hard bedrock of the Marineford plaza instantly disintegrated into powder. The ice layer within a thousand meters was shattered into mist!
In the sky, the cheering pirates looked like ducks suddenly choked by their own necks. Their laughter cut off abruptly. They watched in horror as the indestructible spatial rift... was forcibly smashed by that fist?!
Ping!
With a crisp sound like breaking glass, the black rift completely disintegrated, turning into countless motes of light that faded into the air. The burly figure remained standing, motionless as a mountain. Only wisps of white smoke rose from his fist.
"Phew..."
The man exhaled a breath of turbid air. The breath condensed like a white ribbon, shooting out several meters. He slowly lowered his fist and turned around, revealing a face full of wrinkles yet brimming with vitality—and that signature dog-head hat.
"Vice Admiral... Garp?!"
Sakazuki’s eyes widened in disbelief. He knew Garp was strong. But he never imagined Garp could be this strong! Smashing space with bare hands? Was that something a human could do?
And... the power contained in that punch... beyond Haki, there seemed to be a life energy that made his heart palpitate! A power more pure and domineering than any Logia element!
"Yo, Sakazuki."
Garp looked down at the battered Admiral. There was no tension or worry on his old face. Instead, he wore an extremely punchable, mischievous grin. Digging his nose with his pinky finger, he spoke in that mocking tone:
"How about it? Ate a loss this time, didn’t you, brat?"
