Chapter 89: Operation Rescue Lena II

Third person Pov

When I left the game, I told y’all Scarface would be in charge, but you all still answer to me. I divided the team into three: the Tiger Team, the Pride Team, and the Silent Team. Two came back with me. The Silent Team can only be called when I need to silence people without a trace, which is exactly why you all are here today.

The moment he finished speaking, the atmosphere shifted.

They all perked up, their expressions sharpening with interest. Of course, they knew who their boss was. Every single one of them owed their life to him. And if it came down to it, they would lay those lives down without hesitation.

"I asked for trackers because I need to track the whereabouts of someone," Raymond continued, his voice calm but firm. "The team will be divided into two. Each group will be a mix of the three teams along with the trackers. I want you to infiltrate Oasis Island, on the far eastern side of Vegas "

He paused briefly, letting the name settle into their minds before continuing.

"We’re going by boat. Helicopters would alert the people we’re going after."

His gaze swept across them, ensuring every word sank in.

"Our mission is to locate the whereabouts of this girl."

He tilted his head slightly toward Roman, signaling him. Roman stepped forward immediately, holding a stack of printed photographs. Without a word, he began distributing Lena’s picture to everyone.

The rustling of paper filled the silence.

"She was kidnapped about three days ago," Raymond went on, his tone tightening ever so slightly. "We believe she’s being held on that island. We don’t have proof of life to confirm she’s still alive or dead..."

He stopped, drawing in a slow breath as if steadying something within himself.

"But whether she’s dead or alive, I want her located. And if she is alive, you do everything in your power to protect her. Make sure not even a single hair on her head is harmed."

The room fell into a heavy silence.

Every man there lowered their gaze to the photograph in their hands, studying Lena’s face carefully, committing every detail to memory.

"One more thing," Raymond added, his voice dropping slightly. "I don’t know how many people are guarding her, but I believe the entire island is filled with armed men."

That got their full attention.

"If you take on this mission, your return is not guaranteed. And I will not force anyone to go, regardless of whatever favor you think you owe me. So if anyone wants to leave, now is the time."

His eyes moved slowly across the crowd, watching... waiting.

Not a single person moved.

Not even a shift. Not even hesitation.

Then Eric from the Tiger Team stepped forward.

"Boss," he said, his voice steady, "us being here already should tell you something."

A few nods followed behind him.

"We would rather die than leave you. Your mission is ours, and your problem is ours. If going on this mission means losing our lives, then so be it. We would have lost them anyway if not for you."

A chorus of agreement rose immediately after.

"We’re not afraid to die. Just tell us what to do, and we’ll do it. It’ll be like old times."

A faint smile tugged at Raymond’s lips, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes.

He nodded once.

"Alright. If that’s your decision, then you’ll all be granted access to my vault. Choose whatever weapons and ammunition you need."

A low murmur of approval spread through them.

"You’ll also be given radios for communication. Any team that locates her first should inform the others immediately. And listen carefully—do not engage unless it is absolutely necessary."

His tone sharpened on the last part.

"I prefer we engage together. At the same time."

They all nodded in understanding.

"Liam will get you all sorted out," Raymond added.

At the mention of Liam, a few familiar looks were exchanged. Of course, they all knew him. He used to be one of them before leaving for the city with

their leader.

"Don’t worry," Roman said as he moved to join them, already rolling up his sleeves. "We’ll find her."

Raymond didn’t respond.

He simply stood there, watching as nearly three hundred men began moving toward the other side of the mansion, toward the armory, toward preparation, toward war.

Only when the last of them disappeared did he turn away.

"Come," Damon said quietly.

Raymond nodded once and headed inside with him.

"Where are the policemen you called?" Raymond asked as they walked through the hallway.

"They’re in your office," Damon replied.

Raymond hummed in acknowledgment and changed direction without another word.

When he reached the door, he pushed it open without knocking.

Inside, five men turned toward him almost immediately.

Three were seated comfortably, one stood by the window staring outside, and another leaned casually against the wall. They had made themselves at home.

Raymond took it in with a brief glance before stepping inside, Damon right behind him.

"That’s a huge force you command, Mr. Black," the officer by the window said as he turned around, a faint smile playing on his lips.

"You know, after so many years, one would think you’ve lost your touch and are only after money now."

Raymond smiled as he walked toward his chair and sat down.

"Detective Patrick," he said smoothly. "Indeed, I do command a huge force. And yes, I am after money now."

He leaned back slightly, resting one arm on the chair.

"That’s why I sent people like you into the police force, so my men can be everywhere."

A few amused glances were exchanged in the room.

"How’s Raphael?" Raymond continued. "I thought he’d come himself, considering I need more hands."

Patrick chuckled lightly.

"He said he would have loved to, but it wouldn’t look good for the Attorney General to show up for a kidnapping case. He said if things escalate, he’ll send another team."

He paused before adding, "Though I don’t think you’ll need him. We should be able to handle whatever you throw at us."

Raymond gave a small nod.

"I didn’t expect him to come for this operation," he said. "And that’s not even why I wanted to see him. But don’t worry I’ll bring that up later." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

He leaned forward slightly, his expression turning serious.

"For now, let’s focus."

He proceeded to brief them on the mission Oasis Island, the infiltration, the risks, the expected resistance. Every detail was laid out clearly, leaving no room for confusion.

"Damon, pass the pictures," Raymond said.

Damon, who had been silent all this while, stepped forward and handed Lena’s photograph to each of them.

Patrick studied the picture for a moment longer

than the others.

"So this is the girl..." he murmured, as if confirming something to himself.

Raymond raised an eyebrow slightly.

Patrick smiled.

"It’s not exactly a secret," he said. "Among the guys, there’s been talk. They said you found your soulmate, a girl who can make the great Raymond Black wait for her in a beauty spa. "

He gave a small shrug.

"I didn’t believe it, of course. But seeing this now..." he lifted the photo slightly, "...I guess they were telling the truth."

The temperature in the room seemed to drop instantly.

Raymond didn’t say a word.

But his eyes... his eyes turned cold.

Damon noticed it immediately, the subtle shift, the tightening of his jaw, the flicker of something dangerous beneath the surface.

Still, Raymond remained silent.

"That will be all," he said finally, his voice flat. "We leave in one hour."

Without waiting for a response, he stood up and walked out of the office.

Damon followed closely behind.

They walked in silence until they reached the living room.

"You know," Raymond said suddenly, his voice low and almost amused, "with the way you’ve been following me since I woke up, one would think you’re my wife."

Damon snorted softly.

"I was, for many years," he replied with a shrug.

"But I’m not a fool. I won’t keep holding on to someone who isn’t mine."

He glanced sideways at Raymond.

"Lena already took that position. What I’m doing now is making sure you stay in one piece... so when we find her, she doesn’t meet you broken."

For a moment, Raymond said nothing.

Then, unexpectedly, he chuckled.

It was soft. Brief. Almost unfamiliar.

But it was there.

Damon froze slightly, staring at him.

It had been days since he’d seen anything close to that.

In his mind, he was already congratulating himself.

I made the coldest man alive laugh, he thought proudly. He decided he would voice it out but not that day because he knew that laughter hasn’t done anything to calm the raging storm in Raymond’s mind.

"Wife..." Raymond muttered under his breath, the faint smile still lingering.

"Not bad."

And this time, the smile stayed a bit longer .
