One Night Stand With Alexander Blackwood-Chapter 95 — Ninety-five
Two days later, a shocking headline broke the internet.
[Queen of entertainment, Rhea Larson admits to crimes, turns herself in.]
The internet was in uproar.
Fans were speechless.
Antis were excited.
And her colleagues, they were relieved. The thorn of the entertainment industry was gone.
Since Rhea had pleaded guilty, then there was no need for a long court ruling. She was sentenced to five-year imprisonment.
But another headline shook the internet which threw several people into a state of chaos et mourning.
[Popular actress, Rhea Larson who had just pleaded guilty has been involved in an accident.]
The article read:
On her way to the national state security prison, the police vehicle was involved in a fatal car accident. There were no survivors, all dead.
When Evelyn received the news, she was in a state of shock. Her eyes remained on the phone’s screen, disbelief etched on her features.
"Impossible. That’s not possible." She shook her head, shooting up to her feet.
"My daughter cannot die. I was planning... I was planning to prepare a comfortable room for her. How could she die? It’s... it’s not possible." She stuttered, her gaze darting around.
Rhea’s dad, Carter, held his wife as she cried. His eyes narrowed as he picked his phone.
"Investigate my daughter’s death for me. I want the perpetrators in jail." He instructed coldly, and disconnected the call before consoling his crying wife.
Alexander, on the other hand, was cuddling Serena when they both received the news.
They were both taken aback as they exchanged glances.
Alexander’s expression was complicated as they watched the news. Meanwhile, Serena’s eyes remained on me while she wondered if he was in a good mood. After all, they were once lovers. It’d undeniably impact him even if he tried to hide it.
"Are you okay?" She asked quietly, rubbing his arms calmly.
Alexander shook his head. "I don’t know how I should feel." He confessed. "I mean, we saw her two days ago. And now..." He couldn’t complete his statement, but Serena knew what he was referring to.
"I’m still in a state of disbelief just like you." Serena stated. "Do you think she’s really dead?" She finally asked the question that was gnawing at her heart.
Alexander shook his head helplessly. "I have no idea."
Serena bit her lips, lowering her head as she fell into deep thoughts. She could feel that something was wrong, but she couldn’t place her finger on what it was.
"What are you thinking about? Do you have doubts about her dealing?" Alexander asked.
"I wouldn’t call it doubt." She started, exhaling. "I would just say I have a bad feeling. I have this feeling that something major is about to happen, but I can’t point out what it is." She said honestly.
Alexander studied her, before saying firmly. "I’ll investigate this matter seriously."
Serena nodded, then her lips curved upwards. "You could turn into a detective at this point." She teased.
Alexander’s brows knitted, wondering what she was talking about.
"You have too many matters to investigate. You could literally be a detective." She explained to him, her eyes sparkling brightly.
Alexander chuckled quietly, his expression softening as he pulled her into his arms. "I can be anything you want. As long as it’s you." He whispered into her ears, and her eyes crinkled with delight while they twinkled.
"You’re the best." Serena smiled widely, tightening her arms around him.
---------------
The next morning, Alexander was dressing up when his phone buzzed. He picked it up, and saw that it was a text message from his grandfather.
His brows furrowed as he read the text.
[Lad, your Grandpa Miles is hosting a banquet tonight. Bring Serena along.]
The message was short and straightforward.
The space between his brows drew together as he asked himself. "Why would Grandpa Miles decide to host a banquet all of a sudden? Even asking me to bring Serena along."
He didn’t have time to process this question when his phone buzzed again. This time, it was a call from another person.
He picked the call, and placed his phone close to his ears.
"Boss, I’ve dug into Madam’s mother and I found a lot of interesting things. It has been emailed to you. You might want to take a look and see for yourself."
Alexander acknowledged the caller’s words. He disconnected the call, and went straight to his email.
He read the email with varying complicated expressions in his eyes.
"I guess Grandpa Miles is aware of the truth already." He muttered, and took a deep breath.
Schooling his expression, he walked out of room, and went straight to the kitchen where the unsuspecting Serena was preparing breakfast.
Serena raised her head when she sensed another presence in the room.
"I thought you wanted to take the whole day dressing up. Tell me, who do you want to impress?" She eyed him, a trace of teasing in her voice.
Alexander pushed everything to the back of his mind as he took a seat on the stool. "There is no one else I’d like to impress but you." He returned the energy as he gave a seductive wink.
Serena’s entire face turned red as she paid attention to the pan. "Mr. Blackwood sure has his way with words." She commented dryly.
"Well you could say that..." he paused, and leaned into her, just so his breath could fan her. "...but all actions are only for you."
Serena froze. "Y-you, what... what are you trying to do?" She stammered, her heart hammering against her chest.
"What does it look like I’m doing?" Alexander’s brows were raised, and the corner of his lips curved into a smirk. "You tell me." He inched closer.
Serena gulped, her eyes meeting his. She could see the desire in his eyes even when he tried to conceal it.
Serena snapped out of it when the smell of something burning wafted into her nose.
"It’s burning." She exclaimed as she rushed to turn off the gas cooker.
Alexander also regained his senses seeing her panicked expression.
A few minutes later, Serena and Alexander stood aside by side as their gaze remained fixed on the burnt eggs.
"This is all your fault." She grumbled under her breath.
Alexander’s brows shot up as he refuted. "How is it my fault?"
"You distracted me." She answered. "Now, I’m unable to prepare breakfast for you." Tears gathered her eyes as she played with her fingers.
Alexander was genuinely taken aback when he saw the tears in her eyes. He wondered how one person could have varying moods all under one minute.
A thought flashed through his mind, and he asked without thinking. "Are you on your period?"
