On the Day I Was Kicked Out of the Wealthy Family, I Had a Flash Marriage with a Tycoon-Chapter 82: Which Overbearing CEO Is Pampering His Young Wife
Jasper Lockwood didn’t usually eat cake. He wasn’t a fan of sweets, finding them too rich. This time, however, he finished the entire slice Chloe Sterling had cut for him.
Chloe, thinking he must like it, cut him another piece.
Jasper’s lips curved into a slight smile, and he ate that one, too.
Fortunately, Chloe thought eating too many sweets at night wasn’t a good idea, so she didn’t offer him any more, instead urging him to eat some of the savory dishes.
Jasper smiled and agreed.
The candlelight dinner on the cruise ship was exceptionally romantic, but Jasper’s preparations didn’t end there.
As they were eating, three large, dazzling words suddenly lit up the night sky.
Happy Birthday, Darling.
Noticing the lights brightening the sky above, Chloe immediately looked up, stunned once again.
The three large words, formed by over a thousand drones, were incredibly conspicuous in the night sky, visible even from a great distance.
The people frolicking on the beach also noticed the bright words in the sky. After a collective gasp, they all pulled out their phones to take pictures and record videos.
"So romantic! Which tycoon is celebrating his pampered little wife’s birthday?"
"The CEO’s little wife is so lucky."
"Oh my god! Is this a scene straight out of a novel? Which CEO is this smooth!"
"Ah! Daddy, I’m so jealous!"
Videos and photos were quickly posted online and spread rapidly. Netizens sighed with envy, green with jealousy.
Chloe never expected Jasper to have prepared so much; she was truly shocked.
"I was originally going to do fireworks, but I thought setting them off over the sea would pollute the environment, so I opted for drones instead. It seems like a good choice now. They can stay lit all night," Jasper said.
Chloe pulled her gaze back to him. "Did you come up with all of this yourself?"
"To be honest... it was more of a brainstorming session." Jasper had never pursued a girl before, so he couldn’t think of so many ideas on his own. Some were his own plans, while others were suggestions from his subordinates.
Everything was combined to create this birthday celebration at sea tonight.
Chloe could almost picture it: a group of people giving Jasper ideas, him carefully screening and adopting them, and then arranging everything. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
She suddenly let out a laugh.
"What are you laughing at?" Jasper asked, confused.
A smile played on Chloe’s lips. "Aren’t you worried your men will secretly laugh at you for going to such great lengths for a beautiful woman?"
Jasper declared domineeringly, "They wouldn’t dare."
Just then, her phone buzzed. It was a message from Chase Langdon.
Chloe picked up her phone and glanced at it. "I’m just going to reply to this message."
"Okay."
[Chloe, is Jasper Lockwood celebrating your birthday?]
Staring at the message, Chloe froze for a second, her eyes full of confusion. She quickly replied: [How did you know?]
[I saw online that some CEO is celebrating his pampered little wife’s birthday. I figured it had to be you guys. He’s pretty romantic, using drones to spell out such big words in the sky.]
Chloe: "..."
’It’s already all over the internet?’ she thought, glancing outside at the words floating in the sky.
Immediately after, another message from Chase arrived.
[Well, that puts my mind at ease. You two carry on. I won’t disturb you anymore.]
Chloe looked at the message, then back at Jasper.
"What is it? Who messaged you?"
"It seems someone took a picture of the words and posted it online."
Jasper glanced up at the sky. "It’s fine. There are no names. No one will know who it is."
"Should we turn it off?" Chloe suggested.
"No. Leave it on."
「In a certain villa.」
Silas Coldwell was looking at the online buzz and had likewise guessed it was Jasper and Chloe.
He sneered. "Jasper Lockwood really has a lot of tricks up his sleeve. Looks like he’s quite experienced with women."
"I don’t think Jasper Lockwood has ever been with another woman before," his subordinate blurted out instinctively.
Silas shot him a death glare. "You know everything about his past?"
A chill ran down the subordinate’s spine. "N-No, I don’t. This subordinate... just heard it as a rumor."
Silas huffed and downed a large gulp of wine. He’d never been able to figure out why Chloe had rejected him time and again, only to choose Jasper.
Now he understood. That guy Jasper just acted cold and aloof on the surface; in reality, he was a seasoned player, smooth as hell.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have so many ways to charm women.
Chloe was, after all, just a 20-year-old girl. How could she resist the advances of a seasoned player like him?
’That’s right. That has to be it.’
’It seems I used the wrong approach with Chloe before. I need to change my strategy.’
After a moment’s thought, a wicked smile spread across Silas’s lips. He then ordered his subordinate, "Go. Get some drones, too. Put them right next to Jasper Lockwood’s!"
The subordinate looked stunned. "...Yes, sir."
Soon, another fleet of drones rose into the night sky over the sea, forming a new set of large words.
Happy Birthday, Baby.
The netizens: "..."!!!
"Are there that many pampered little wives celebrating their birthdays today?"
"It can’t be for the same person, can it?"
"Huh? Is this for real? How exciting!"
"Is this The Maelstrom? AHHHH, I love it!"
「The Sterling residence.」
After finishing her piano practice, Esther Sterling returned to her bedroom and picked up her phone to browse the internet.
Under her account, there were still many people cursing her out, and she had lost more than half of her followers.
But she had completely calmed down over the past few days. She was no longer concerned with these temporary gains and losses. Sooner or later, she would reclaim all the dignity she had lost.
Just as she was about to turn off her phone, she noticed two trending topics.
#CEOSpoilingHisWife!#
#TycoonBirthdayCelebration!#
She clicked on the topic, then on a picture. In the image were several large words: ’Happy Birthday, Darling.’
There wasn’t a single girl who wouldn’t love or envy such a romantic gesture, and Esther was no exception.
She had completely given up on Damian Rivers, who didn’t like her anyway. She had set her sights higher. One day, she would stand at the very top and look down on everyone who had ever laughed at her.
This kind of adoration, this kind of romance, would one day be hers too.
’As for that country bumpkin, Chloe,’ she thought, ’she’s only fit to be a mistress to those rich playboys, never able to secure a real position.’
A woman who grew up in the countryside, was kicked out of her family, and had nothing—no prestigious family would ever accept her into their home.
Esther gripped her phone, muttering, "Chloe Sterling, I’ll let you be smug for now. We’ll see about the future!"
After speaking, she looked at the photo on her phone again, gazing at the words ’Happy Birthday, Darling’ and fantasizing that one day she, too, would have a man who would dote on her so completely.
Just then, a message from Ruby Lynch suddenly arrived.
[Esther, don’t forget to be on time tomorrow.]
Esther immediately replied: [Okay, Auntie. Don’t worry, I’ll be there on time.]
Lately, she had become very close with Ruby Lynch, even spending more time with her than with her own mother, Rose Lynch. In her eyes, her aunt Ruby was more cunning and capable. Not only had she married better than Rose, but her ability to solve problems was extraordinary.
If Ruby hadn’t helped her sort things out, she would have been truly finished this time.
...
Back on the cruise ship, the sweet atmosphere was shattered by the sudden appearance of ’Happy Birthday, Baby.’
Jasper’s handsome face turned cold and grim, his murderous gaze fixed on the drones that had suddenly appeared in the sky.
Chloe was exasperated. ’That guy Silas Coldwell is relentless.’
Henry Chamberlain braced himself and cautiously approached the pair. "Second Master, I’ve already given the order. The drones next to ours will lose control and disappear shortly."
"Just lose control and disappear?" Jasper’s voice was ice-cold.
"Then... what are your orders, sir?"
"Have them all fly back to Silas Coldwell’s villa and explode on site."
Henry Chamberlain: "..."
Chloe Sterling: "..."
