Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Leaning Over and Pressing Down...

"That’s impossible," I flatly denied.

"Then how do you know?"

The scene in the car that day flashed through my mind, and I couldn’t stop the tips of my ears from turning red.

"TSK TSK TSK..." A teasing smile spread across Chloe Miller’s face. "Chelsea, you’re blushing."

"..."

I couldn’t take Chloe Miller’s teasing anymore, so I quickly grabbed her hand to stop her. "Alright, stop messing around. I’m trying to talk to you about something serious!"

"I’m talking about something serious, too!" Chloe Miller squeezed my hand back, her face flushed with excitement. "See? I told you! Master Forrest definitely likes you. My intuition was right! I am so here for this!"

"It’s impossible between us."

"Why not?"

"He’s single, and I’m a married pregnant woman. Besides, with Sebastian Forrest’s status and family background, why would he ever marry a divorcée? Let alone one who’s pregnant with Theodore Grant’s child."

Hearing this, Chloe Miller’s excitement instantly deflated, clearly defeated by the harsh reality of the situation.

That kind of all-consuming love only happens in TV dramas. In real life, where do you find such undying devotion?

The simple phrase ’a good match’ is enough to tear more than half of all lovers apart.

"Besides, all I want to do right now is have this baby and raise him well. I don’t want to think about anything else."

Chloe Miller sighed. "Alright..."

But the more she thought about it, the angrier she got. "It’s all Theodore Grant’s fault, that damn scumbag!"

I shook my head with a bitter laugh, knowing there was no one to blame. If I had to point a finger, it would be at myself for being so blind as to fall for Theodore Grant in the first place.

Perhaps it was this thought that sent me down memory lane.

It was during a P.E. class in middle school. I’d gotten my period for the first time and stained my uniform pants. I was panicking, not knowing what to do, when a school jacket suddenly came flying through the air and landed right over my head. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

And printed on the collar was the name ’Theodore Grant’.

That jacket saved me from being humiliated in front of everyone, preserving a young girl’s fragile self-esteem...

Afterward, I washed the jacket and returned it to Theodore Grant, thanking him in person. But he just gave me an indifferent nod, took the jacket, and walked away.

It was the first time I’d ever felt the stirrings of love, and I thought I had met my Prince Charming.

From that moment on, I fell head over heels and couldn’t pull myself out.

’Thinking about it now, maybe it was all a mistake from the very beginning.’

’If you’re grateful, you should just repay the kindness. There’s no need to throw away half your life for it...’

What a pity I’m only just now realizing that truth.

...

That evening, I started packing my things. Chloe Miller, worried I would overexert myself, helped me get most of it done before she left.

Since I had only moved in recently, there wasn’t much to pack.

Besides, I’d already moved several times, so I was a seasoned pro at this point.

But since I had decided to move out, I knew I had to tell Sebastian Forrest.

Early the next morning, I knocked on Sebastian Forrest’s door, but there was no answer even after knocking for a long time.

’Is he not home?’

I frowned, subconsciously pulling out my phone to glance at the time—7:30 AM.

’Did he go to the office this early?’

With no other choice, I decided to go to work first and try to talk to Sebastian Forrest when I got back in the evening.

However, when I knocked on his door after work, there was still no answer.

I waited until a little after nine in the evening, when I finally heard a noise at the door.

I quickly pulled open my door, only to see Sebastian Forrest being propped up by another man.

"You must be... Miss Joyce?"

I nodded, looking at the strange man in confusion. I was surprised he knew who I was. "And you are...?"

"I’m President Forrest’s assistant, Henry Paxton."

"What happened to Senior Forrest?"

"The project’s R&D phase was a success today. At the celebration dinner, President Forrest was overjoyed and had a little too much to drink..."

Just then, Sebastian Forrest, who had been leaning dizzily on Henry Paxton, opened his eyes. They were jet-black and surprisingly clear, though they held a drunken haze.

"Chelsea?"

"Senior Forrest, you’re awake?" A wave of relief washed over me. ’I thought I’d have to wait another day to tell him I’m moving out, but he’s actually awake.’

Sebastian Forrest pushed Henry Paxton away and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Yeah. What is it? Did you need something?"

I nodded quickly.

"I’m fine. You can head back," Sebastian Forrest said, glancing at Henry Paxton with a slight frown.

Henry Paxton glanced at me instinctively before nodding. "Yes, President Forrest."

Once Henry Paxton had left, Sebastian Forrest turned and opened his door. "Come in. We’ll talk inside."

It wasn’t my first time here, so as soon as we were inside, I rushed to pour Sebastian Forrest a glass of water. "Senior Forrest, drink some water. I’ll make you some soup to help with the alcohol."

Sebastian Forrest had obviously had a lot to drink; a faint scent of alcohol clung to him. He nodded, took the glass I offered, and downed it in one gulp.

Seeing Sebastian Forrest leaning back on the sofa with his eyes closed, I hurried to the kitchen to make the soup.

But by the time the soup was ready, I found Sebastian Forrest had fallen asleep on the sofa.

"Senior Forrest? Wake up..." I gave him a gentle shake.

Sebastian Forrest’s eyes fluttered open. Perhaps it was due to the alcohol, but his jet-black eyes seemed unusually luminous. He looked like he was still half-asleep, his gaze fixed directly on me.

"Chelsea..."

Hearing him say my name, I breathed a small sigh of relief, thinking he was lucid now. "Senior Forrest, have some soup..."

I held the bowl out to Sebastian Forrest.

But he didn’t take it. His eyes remained fixed on me.

It was then that I sensed something was wrong and instinctively tried to put the bowl down.

But Sebastian Forrest was faster. He grabbed my wrist and gave a sudden tug, pulling me off balance. I stumbled and fell right into his arms.

"Ah!" I cried out softly as the bowl of soup slipped from my grasp and spilled all over the floor.

"Senior Forrest, what are you doing?"

Seeing the dark stain spreading across the white carpet, I scrambled to push off his chest and get up.

"Don’t move..." Sebastian Forrest’s chin rested in the crook of my neck, his hot breath washing over my ear.

A shiver ran through me. As I came to my senses, I realized just how intimate our position was.

Panicked, I tried to struggle free from his embrace, but just as I managed to create some distance, Sebastian Forrest pulled me right back.

It was only then that I saw his sternly handsome face, so close I could hear the faint catch in his breath and see the flames burning in his eyes.

My heart leaped into my throat.

The next second, Sebastian Forrest leaned in.

Startled by his determined move, I quickly raised my hand to cover his mouth.

The action, however, made both of us freeze.

Sebastian Forrest looked up at me, an unreadable emotion swirling in his ink-black eyes.

Flustered, I started to turn my head away, but Sebastian Forrest yanked my hand down and leaned over me...
