Chapter 210: Chapter 210 – You two deserve it

"Dion, Logan had an accident and is not in the best of health," Grandpa said thoughtfully. Dion was more worried than they expected. Perhaps it was because they were all upset with Logan, they couldn’t sympathize with him.

He would have killed Alex but decided to repent and got caught up in his own game. Though good, the fact remained that his greed endangered everyone, for which reason he didn’t deserve their pity. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

However, grandpa did not see the need to explain those sad details to Dion. After recovering from a mental trauma, it was not right to put so much pressure on her from the challenges they had been through.

It was time for her to enjoy the beautiful things of life, and that included the peace they wanted her to enjoy.

"Where is he? Can I see him?" She asked worriedly. Everyone was quiet, thinking deeply about how to calm the situation until Alex broke the silence and comforted her.

"Yes, you will see him after you settle in," Joanna added. "I will take you to your room." Though she wanted to insist, the fact that she saw the savior she had been looking for all this while caused her to agree.

After reuniting with Dion, it would be good for them to know each other better, and Violet was already sensing being left out.

"Can I come too?" She asked. Joanna smiled and informed Dion. "I’m so sorry for not having introduced you. This is Violet, my best friend, and she would be your best friend too. Guess what? We can go shopping later."

Joan was planning to purchase a few maternity clothes before that time arrives. Getting pregnant at twenty-seven was not a bad idea.

Dion was quite excited by the pair and also the youngest among them, at twenty.

By the time they reached the middle of the stairs, Alex informed Dion. "Joan is going to have triplets, so I suggest you take good care of her."

This was news worth celebrating, and everyone was so happy to hear it. "It’s going to be the first time in the Kings family. "You two deserve it, Alex," Grandpa tapped him on the shoulder.

As soon as Joanna and Dion were out of view, grandpa had a discussion with Alex.

"Can Dion work at the company yet? She looks so diminished." Though she was well cared for, her mental instability caused her to eat little most of the time.

"That’s because of her previous unstable mental health, but I believe she would be fine within a few months," Alex said reassuringly, thinking about Joanna’s question of what he intended to call the triplets.

Their sexes were yet to be determined, so it would be a good idea to wait until then. But thinking through it, Alex never regretted the sacrifices he made, especially after being rewarded with triplets at thirty.

"Now I can die in peace. You have made me so happy and proven that you can take care of the Kings on your own."

A lot was expected from Alex, who was given so much, and the fact that he kept Dion secretly alive as well as Logan, who did not even deserve it, proved the complexity of character grandpa was looking for.

"I don’t have to wait anymore. At Dion’s welcome party, I will sign off the chairmanship to you." It was the last part to make Alex the sole decision-maker, even if the board decides to vote against any decision he makes.

"I hope that Logan gets better," Alex said, not really caring about the chairman position. All he wanted was to see Dion happy, knowing that Logan’s presence would do so.

"I hope so too, but I overheard some things. That you made some rescue. Why isn’t it on the news even as Salvatore and where are they?" Grandpa asked worriedly, since he had no idea about what Alex does in Asia.

At this point, Alex could not hide anything, especially when he was thinking of resigning from his CEO position at his agency and giving more time to expanding the King’s multinational, as well as training Dion.

For the most part, he wanted to have lots and lots of time for his wife and future kids.

Working with the agency was more stressful than working with the Kings and riskier.

Family meant sacrifice, so if Alex wanted the happy family he imagined with Joan, then he had to seriously cut down his workload.

"Since you asked, I will take you and Dion there very soon. Joan already knows what we do with such people."

As he spoke, he got an idea. Even if Dion got upset with seeing Logan in his state, they could all travel to Asia for some refreshing moments with those rescued.

A week later, preparations were ongoing for Dion’s welcome party. The family had paid Monica lots of surprise visits, happy she was doing well.

Dion was catching up fast with the world, beginning from when they went shopping. Violet had to return to work, but her relationship with Aiden grew steady and smooth.

A day before Dion’s welcome party, she insisted on going to see Logan and was accompanied by grandpa, Alex, and Joan.

Everybody watched Logan from the glass partition, but Dion insisted on going in to be beside Logan.

"It’s not right, grandpa. His life is hanging on a thin thread," the doctor said but Alex kicked against it.

"The only reason he changed was because I mentioned his long-lost sister. So, what if he dies now? They would have had no chance to meet, so even if today would be his last day, let him spend it with Dion," Alex said seriously.

Logan had been eager to meet Dion, and nothing showed he was going to survive. To Alex, it was better to make good use of every moment like it was just yesterday.

"Alright, if you say so, but she would have to wear some scrubs," the doctor suggested. Dion did not refuse.

Watching her through the glass partition with Logan, Joan saw the similarities between the sister and the brothers.

Dion had been told not to touch Logan, but she was seen holding his hand and saying some words to him.

Not long after, they heard the beeping sound of the monitor change. The doctors rushed in and sent Dion out, and Alex asked her, "What did you tell him?"

"That it’s been so many years, and I wish to hear his voice again," Dion revealed. Alex was about to say something when his voice was overridden by that of Joanna.

"Dion, the doctor is calling for you."

Their attention focused on the team of doctors who came out after Dion went in again.

"What happened?" Alex asked. The doctor had tears in his eyes. "He’s awake but can’t move his limbs. He would need months of physiotherapy to ever walk again," the doctor said with joy. Alex asked further. "So why the tears?"

"When we got there, he insisted that we call his sister. He even said he heard her voice from his subconscious mind and wants her to hear his voice," the doctor revealed. Alex was in tears.

Maybe, just maybe, he should not have kept Dion’s survival a secret from grandpa and Logan. Logan, for instance, seemed to have kept his longing for his sister on the inside, not only blaming Alex but doing everything in his might to make things difficult for him.

"I think he wants to see you," the doctors said. Alex looked through the glass partition to see Dion waving at them.

As grandpa, Alex, and Joan went in, Logan and Dion’s hands were joined together. "Thank you for keeping her safe, Alex," Logan said seriously. Alex was filled with regret.

"I should have told you sooner."

"You should have," Logan agreed. "I’m sorry for everything. Without our parents, our only sister, nothing felt the same," Logan said seriously. Alex agreed.

"We don’t have our parents, but we have each other."

Grandpa was in tears. How long he had wished for these siblings to agree on something and speak so calmly.

"Logan, you bastard. Why didn’t you confide in me if you were depressed?" Grandpa chastised him. Logan had tears in his eyes.

"I’m sorry. I just felt that no one cared and all that mattered to you was Alex. But you are right. All along, all he did was protect the family."

The tears of joy got even the doctors shedding some. "Joan, I’m sorry for everything," Logan apologized and insisted. "I want Dion to live with me."

"Yes," Dion agreed. "I’ll take care of him to get better."

Alex was a little perplexed, but grandpa pulled him to the side and explained to him. "It’s better this way. Caring for someone would help her to mature faster."

"Okay. It’s just that I’ve watched over her all her life, and it feels saddening to not do so anymore."

Grandpa laughed and gazed at Joan. "Well, you have your wife and triplets to care for."

Alex smiled and embraced Joan as he responded to grandpa. "You are right." Facing Logan, he declared. "Dion goes with you if you get better."

"And we have a welcome party for her tomorrow," Grandpa added, and Logan thought carefully, saying to Alex. "Can I speak to you alone for a while?"
