Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 574: Faulty Part ()
"You lied to me... you deceived me." Lady Diandre accused, her voice was hoarse as she forced the words out her aching throat.
Another bout of violent coughs forced its way out of her throat and even more water content was coughed up.
Lady Diandre clutched her chest tightly as she struggled to stabilize her breath.
Her wings hung heavily behind her, dripping water onto the black tiles. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Lady Diandre could barely lift herself up straight, her wings now drenched were twice as heavy as they would normally be and they ached from the unfamiliar weight which rendered them almost impossible to move.
Despite her condition, Diandre’s eyes were narrowed into a fierce, accusing glare and fixed on Celeste.
"I demand an explanation! This is not what you promised me!" Diandre hissed.
"You would have to be more specific with your accusations, daughter-mine. What is it that you wish to ask exactly... calm yourself and speak clearly." Celeste stated casually.
Celeste got up to her feet and slowly walked over to Lady Diandre, crouching down slightly so she was on level with the heaving fairy.
"My gateway to the Royal Forest is still unstable and unsuitable for travel, I see." Celeste observed while studying Diandre’s state.
"You swore to me that this would never trace back to us!" Diandre reminded in agitation.
"I did." Celeste agreed simply.
"Do not act like you do not know what I speak of! You convinced me you would cover my tracks." Diandre hissed.
"Had it not been for your assurance, I would never have interfered with the Light Hall! It is all out in the open now! A trial will be held! The Dragon King will never let this go!" Lady Diandre fretted.
"Ah... I did not anticipate the Dunes would be exposed so soon, I have once again underestimated the dragons." Celeste murmured thoughtfully.
"River will testify, it is only a matter of time before things escalate beyond our control, I might also be summoned for an interrogation!" Lady Diandre said anxiously.
"And what is it to you? There are many who are more than suitable to take the fall. You just have to find the most fitting candidate." Celeste pointed out
"Is that all you have to say? This is not something that will blow over by pinning it on some titled fairy! This is the Light Hall! Everything is at stake! There could truly be a war!" Lady Diandre exclaimed.
Celeste’s expression remained unfazed even at the mention of a war. Like it was just any other word of no consequence.
Lady Diandre paused in her rant and studied Celeste for a moment, her eyes going wide in alarm as realization dawned.
"That was... your goal? To pit the Fae against the dragons to soothe your wrath at both our kinds?" Lady Diandre realized suddenly.
Celeste laughed quietly, shaking her head.
"Do not let your imagination run wild. What is your goal, Diandre? Why have you held my hand? That is what you should think of." Celeste reminded, standing up straight.
"The crown of the High Queen..." Diandre muttered quietly.
"And you will have it, you are even a step closer to your goal yet you are too blind to see it..." Celeste tutted in disappointment.
"In my days, the Fae kind were glorious in their schemes. So much so that they were the only race to stand strong through the rule of the dark empire and even after the uprising...it is such a shame, that the Fae has now come to this." Celeste murmured, shaking her head slightly.
"Only when the clans are in turmoil will they seek guidance from a leader. Only in a time of war will the need for a Fae ruler arise."
"You must never forget, that the greatest obstacles in your path to the throne of High Queen are not the dragons...it is the Fae council who have grown drunk with the power they have amassed in the absence of royal authority."
"Power they will never return willingly to the royal family..." Celeste trailed off.
"They will do anything to prevent the return of the royal bloodline."
"Was that not why you held my hand? Because you could not even trust your own kind? Because you feared what would become of the royal bloodline if it was discovered that the royal line was slowly losing their magical abilities?" Celeste quirked a brow, pacing slowly.
"Was that not why you sought out dark magic? The same power your people forsook to save their own skin? Was that not why you sought the only living member of the royal Fae line from that generation?" Celeste asked knowingly.
Lady Diandre’s gaze lowered to the ground, she had no words to say in her defence.
"I have done nothing but aid you safeguard your secret. I taught you the ancient methods of stealing magical ability without it ever leading back to you and gave you a method to restore the magic of your precious royal line." Celeste reminded.
"I placed the dwarves as a scapegoat knowing in their greed for wealth, they would create the trade of magical ability, serving as a perfect cover to shield your activities from your fellow council men and the dragons." Celeste continued.
"I expended the troll golem and the storm singers to create a diversion from Azkar to keep your secrets hidden...and what have you done for me in return?"
"Hiding the adamantium in the Light Hall was my idea, because you failed to keep the dragons from snooping into the hidden city."
"It was your job to keep Lord River’s mouth shut and the barrier unaffected...you did such a sloppy job of it and now what?" Celeste asked.
Lady Diandre remained silent and Celeste carried on.
"You have not been very useful to me in these decades, Diandre. One must know when to be rid of a faulty equipment and I believe it is about time I smoothen the errors and replace the faulty part, would you not agree? Keila?" Celeste called.
At the mention of the familiar name, Lady Diandre’s eyes widened.
