Chapter 572: An Emotion Called Fear (Ch.573)

"That is right. Your closely guarded secret is out now." Alessio relayed casually.

Alpha King Lothaire’s expression changed as soon as the words were said.

"You... what have you done?" Alpha King Lothaire hissed, his gaze narrowed into a fierce, dark glare.

A grin stretched across Alessio’s lips and he leaned back against the wall.

The treasure he had discovered would begin to serve its purpose now.

"Did you think I would not secure leverage for myself? I have never underestimated you, father. It is you who has underestimated me." Alessio relayed calmly.

Alpha King Lothaire’s brows twitched in his rage and he slammed a hand against the cell bars.

The silver burned into the skin of his palm but he paid it no heed, visibly trembling in his rage.

"What have you done with her?!" Alpha King Lothaire demanded.

Alessio did not respond, he only watched quietly as his father’s rage grew.

"Tell me!" Alpha King Lothaire roared.

Alessio’s grin widened even more, the glint in his eyes testified to his delight at his father’s reaction.

"Could I possibly conceive to do anything worse than what you have already done to her?" Alessio asked in barely concealed amusement. "Even if I did try, I could never compare to you."

"Your cruelty is unmatched." Alessio commended.

"Creator help me, I will rip you apart...son or not." Lothaire vowed vehemently.

Alessio chuckled quietly, tilting his head back.

"Do what you will. I would not have gone for the throne if I feared death." Alessio replied unfazed.

"Is this also because of her?! Because I put an end to your lust for your sister, you depraved bastard?!" Lothaire snarled.

"Sister? But is she really?" Alessio asked blankly.

"What is that to mean?" Lothaire hissed.

But in that statement, for just a moment, Lothaire’s voice had faltered and that change did not go unnoticed by Alessio.

Alessio sniggered beneath his breath, he could not believe it had taken him so long to even hold suspicion, that perhaps everything had been a lie from the start.

That all along, it had been a great deceit for his father’s depraved satisfaction.

Anyone with eyes could tell there was absolutely no way Neveah was related to his family, she was nothing like them.

"I have seen the woman you loved, father... the woman you loved more than your own mate, your immortalized Eira."

"I have seen her, I have seen what you did to her, how you sickeningly kept her as neither living nor dead so long as it meant she was yours alone." Alessio spat.

"I know without a doubt that such a woman would never have carried your child... she would have died a thousand times over before carrying your child."

"Omega... Neveah, was always different, always better, always more and I...I loathed it..." Alessio’s voice trailed off for a moment at this point.

"But it all makes sense now, why she could still smile so brightly even in that cursed palace, why the shadows and darkness could never taint her glow..."

"Why I felt inferior to her, undeserving even when she was smashed to the earth beneath my feet,"

"While I grew increasingly like you by the day even, she just could not be tainted, because she was not yours. Neveah could never have been born to a bloodline like ours... this disdainful blood of yours!" Alessio hissed.

"Be silent." Lothaire ordered lowly.

Alessio had no intentions to comply, he was finally at liberty to speak his mind, he had no intentions to hold back.

"All along, Eira never loved you. It was just your unrequited love...it was just you desiring for what you could never have."

"How it must have angered you! Accustomed to brutally seizing all that you desire, how it must have angered you that you could not have her! Not even fate favoured you, bestowing my mother to you instead!"

"It must have angered you so much that you took her child to be yours! Because the world believing she bore your child, creating the illusion that she was once yours made you feel better about your pathetic, unworthy self!" Alessio snarled.

"Shut that mouth of yours!!!" Lothaire roared. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

Alessio laughed quietly, a satisfied grin on his lips.

"There has come a time when my father also fails to retain his composure... just a petty man who cannot accept his defeat, the fact remains, you never had Eira...who is the depraved bastard now?" Alessio asked, chuckling to himself.

"And you believe you will be any better? If Omega is anything like her mother, you will never be worthy in her eyes..." Lothaire assured Alessio coldly, his eyes gleaming with rage.

"That is where you and I are different. You have nothing to hold onto Eira, you could only resort to self deception but I am different..." Alessio trailed off for a moment, leaning forwards.

"You see father, there is a secret I did not dare reveal to you, for fear that it would earn your disdain and disappointment."

"But seeing as none of that matters now, I will tell it to you. Neveah is my mate...my true mate." Alessio revealed, grinning in delight.

Lothaire’s eyes widened in surprise at Alessio’s revelation.

"You did not expect that, did you? That fate would freely give me the miracle you could never have." Alessio taunted.

"And what of it? Omega is long gone, to a realm you could never reach even if you tried." Lothaire countered with a scoff.

"Then I must thank you greatly father, for giving me the one person Neveah would give anything to find...Eira, the mother Neveah has sought and longed for all her life." Alessio replied with a knowing smile.

"You... you will lure her back here using Eira... and you will force me to submit, with Eira also..." Lothaire realized.

"I will be sure to succeed where you have failed, father. So you may be rest assured and take a step back. You must now decide, if you will kill me right here, right now and lose what is left of Eira...or accept... your new king." Alessio finished, leaning back against the wall.

For the first time, a rare emotion reflected in Lothaire’s eyes as he stared at his grinning son... this emotion was fear.
