Chapter 563: What Is Mine (Ch.564)

Neveah walked out of the dungeons, heaving a quiet sigh as she exited the endless darkness.

The night was far gone now and the moon was already high up in the sky.

There was no one outside the dungeons now, Neveah guessed someone had taken care of it in anticipation of her return.

For a short moment, Neveah stood in place, tilting her head back, she watched the moon in silence.

The chilling cold night air calmed Neveah, but what was more calming was the familiar presence of Xenon which Neveah had sensed, long before he came into view.

Xenon stood beside Neveah, gazing up at the sky to see what had caught her interest, but he could not find it.

"Are you alright?" Xenon asked first, his brows were furrowed in concern as he studied Neveah.

"I am fine." Neveah responded, passing Xenon a reassuring smile.

"Come then, Jian is waiting." Xenon relayed to Neveah.

Neveah turned to Xenon; "Jian is here?" She asked.

"You are here. Where else would he be?" Xenon replied with a question of his own.

Neveah winced visibly, Xenon was displeased...but King Jian, he would not let it pass at just displeasure.

She had held vain hope she would return before they ever found out she had left, how could she have anticipated what would happen?

"Is he... furious at me?" Neveah asked cautiously.

Xenon faced Neveah, studying her for a moment, his gaze narrowed slightly.

"Do not do that, Veah. Do not fear him... he will never hurt you. The whole world might crumble, but Jian will never hurt you." Xenon made clear.

Neveah nodded slowly, she did know that...but she had been wary of the Dragon King for so long already, it was not something she could get past in just a few days.

"Your bond is too fragile...too recent for him to have learnt how to handle it..."

"He has to battle a compulsive need to be with you at every moment of the day. It is a constant tussle between Jian and his predator side...Having you out of sight is painful... physically painful." Xenon relayed to Neveah.

"But having no idea where you are or if you are in danger... that is torture, Neveah." Xenon said, breathing a quiet sigh.

Xenon had done more than answer Neveah’s question and Neveah breathed a heavy sigh.

"Come." Xenon said, offering a hand to Neveah.

Neveah took Xenon’s outstretched hand and followed his lead through the light hall.

"Women are not allowed into the Light Hall..." Neveah reminded Xenon as they got up to the doors of the hall.

Neveah had stopped walking, feeling a tad bit of Deja Vu. The last time she had entered a light hall, it had not gone so well.

"This Light Hall is already overrun by outlaws, what rules?" Xenon asked, his tone unconcerned.

"Beyond that, you are not just any woman." Xenon finished, continuing on his way.

Neveah did not protest, she followed Xenon in and down the hallways till they arrived the doors of the main hall.

The doors were partly opened and when they walked through, King Jian sat right there, on the very last step at the front of the hall, his gazed fixed on the center piece that covered a major part of the hall.

The center piece was glorious, a quarter foil built right into the ground from thousands of pure channelling gems and it pulsed with magical energy, so alive that one could practically taste it.

Neveah had seen a drawing of the center piece once, but nothing could beat seeing it for herself.

King Jian’s gaze lifted to Neveah, his eyes trailing down the length of her body and then his eyes moved back to settle on hers.

His eyes, those mismatched orbs exuded a dim glow, and his aura was overwhelming, coming off of him in strong, imposing waves.

King Jian said nothing, but the look in his eyes beckoned on Neveah. There were no words said, but Neveah could feel his call somewhere in her mind.

"His predator is on the surface...go to him... slowly..." Xenon said from where he stood.

Neveah gulped audibly, taking slow careful steps to King Jian.

A low growl rumbled in King Jian’s throat when Neveah was a reasonable distance away and Neveah paused in her step.

An oppressive silence settled heavily over the hall. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Neveah was uncertain if to advance or retreat and Xenon did not supply any further direction, it seemed he also could not decipher what King Jian wanted.

Neveah waited for King Jian to break the silence but when he did nothing but stare for a moment too long, Neveah spoke up in hopes of diffusing the situation.

"Lord River will testify against the Fae..." Neveah began.

"He wrote down all that happened..." Neveah said, pulling out the parchment Lord River had requested her to pass on to King Jian.

King Jian’s gaze did not even acknowledge the parchment, his eyes were still fixed on Neveah.

Neveah made to step forward but another warning growl kept her in place.

Neveah bit down on her lip, she slowly crouched down and placed the parchment on the ground.

Getting back up to her feet, Neveah’s eyes widened to find King Jian now stood right in front of her.

There was barely an inch of distance between them. How he had moved so quickly, Neveah could not comprehensive.

She could only stand frozen in place for fear that the slightest movement would trigger King Jian more.

King Jian’s gaze moved down and he took Neveah’s hand, lifting it to his view, the tip of his nose grazed over her wrist.

The glow in King Jian’s eyes grew even more prominent and another growl rumbled in his throat.

"Someone touched you..." King Jian said.

Neveah’s eyes widened slightly at the accuracy with which King Jian had determined where exactly the field worker held her hand.

"No one lays a hand on what is mine!" King Jian snarled.

"Are you trying to see me go mad?" King Jian asked slowly, his tone deep and guttural.

"I..." Neveah began to say but King Jian cut her off.

"Do you really want to see what I truly desire? This need to possess you...do you want to see how far I am going to go?" King Jian asked.

The doors to the hall slammed shut, the sound echoing through Neveah’s mind.

’Xenon...you traitor.’ Neveah thought in dismay.
