Chapter 53: She Is The One? (Ch.53)

"Black Scaled...if he comes through, hold me hostage... make sure to draw blood as well."

"My father will have to let you go to save face before the Eclipse Alphas. Once you’re beyond our borders, they won’t dare give chase." Neveah said urgently as the shadow drew closer.

Neveah did not take note of the intrigued expression on the face of the Dragon Shifter to see a little she wolf protecting him when he could raze down the entire Eclipse Fang Pack with a single breath.

Neveah waited, watching as the shadow moved back and forth for a moment before he retreated from view.

"He’s gone." Neveah murmured, breathing a sigh of relief as she stepped away, however she froze up when a familiar voice called out to her.

"Omega! I know you’re out here somewhere, come out now. Don’t make me come find you." Alessio said.

A chill of terror ran down Neveah’s spine. Of all people to have come into the woods, why had it been Alessio? For what cause would he leave his own banquet and come out to the woods?

Unless he had intentionally come out in search of her, which meant he may not have known Neveah was with anyone.

"Black Scaled, he’s here for me and he won’t leave till I come out. Stay right here... I’ll lure him away, make sure you leave when we’re gone." Neveah said to the dragon shifter.

Neveah made to move away but the Dragon Shifter held unto her wrist, his brows furrowed slightly as he shook his head.

"I will be fine... he’s my brother, he won’t harm me." Neveah said, forcing out the lie through gritted teeth.

Neveah then pulled her hand away from the grasp of the Dragon Shifter and headed out from behind the water fall, catching sight of Alessio who stood with his back faced to her.

He was dressed regally in his deep blue ceremonial robes and Neveah sucked in a deep breath to calm herself before she headed towards him.

"Your Grace." Neveah greeted, lowering her head to the bow. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

"So it was you after all..." Alessio murmured as he slowly turned around to face Neveah, a dark look on his face.

Neveah’s hands trembled but she clenched them up into tight fists and forced her expression to remain calm and unfazed.

"My apologies, Your Grace. I came out to get some fresh air, I do not know when I will get to see these woods again. I will report to father and seek his punishment for disobeying his order." Neveah said in a low tone.

Alessio stared down at Neveah for a short time and Neveah kept her gaze straight.

"Why did you run from me?" Alessio asked and Neveah flinched visibly as a growl slipped out from Alessio’s lips at the end showing Terran was right at the surface.

"I couldn’t tell who it was...it was instinct, I just didn’t want anyone telling father I was out here. I’m sorry, Your Grace." Neveah replied, hoping Alessio would just be on his way and leave her be.

"If you will miss the Eclipse Fang...you do not have to leave. I will let father know." Alessio said out of thin air and Neveah’s head snapped up.

"W.. what?" Neveah asked in bafflement.

"You heard me. If you do not want to leave... say the word and I will have you stay. Father will not turn me down." Alessio said again.

’If I do not want to leave, say the word?! Did he hit his head somewhere?!’ Neveah thought in alarm.

"I... I..." Neveah trailed off for a moment before she frowned slightly and decided to just speak her mind.

"If I decide to stay and not leave... can you also get father to let me come out to the woods again as I please? Does that mean I do not have to be intimate with Lucas Varleston?" Neveah asked in a blank tone.

Alessio growled low at Neveah’s words but he could not refute them.

"So you wish to leave then?" Alessio asked and Neveah shrugged casually.

"I will do as father ordered, Alessio. If father says to leave, then I will leave. If father says not to leave, then I also have no choice." Neveah said in a blank tone.

In the blink of an eye, Alessio moved and was right before Neveah, his hand grasping her chin harshly and tilting her head up to his.

"I guess I have said something wrong." Neveah murmured, her gaze fixed unflinchingly on Alessio’s glowing green orbs.

"Father’s orders... father’s orders, are you truly unwilling to be intimate with the Varleston boy?" Alessio asked in a dark tone.

"What do you think?" Neveah asked and Alessio frowned before his grip on her chin eased.

Neveah expected him to step back but instead, his hand caressed he cheek and Neveah stiffened immediately.

"He shouldn’t get to have you... you’re not his to take." Alessio murmured in a low tone, his words alarming Neveah.

"Return to your quarters, get changed and attend the banquet. Do not let me come find you again." Alessio said before he pulled his hand away and strode off.

Neveah lifted a hand to her cheek, her heart filled with disgust as she stared after him till he disappeared from view.

When Neveah was certain he was gone, she hurried back to the waterfall and turned around to the cave, heaving a sigh of relief to find it empty.

"He got away... that’s good." Neveah said as she lowered herself to a seating position and buried her head in her lap to ease her racing heart.

That had been a close call, Alessio knew of the waterfall cave and could have insisted to check it if he had suspected someone was there...it was good he noticed her alone.

"I should get ready to attend the banquet, another night of wearing a fake smile...how exhausting." Neveah murmured as she rose up to her feet and headed back in the direction of the Eclipse Palace.

As Neveah moved, she felt as though she was being watched, and so she stopped, glancing over her shoulder but the woods behind her was completely devoid of life.

Neveah frowned slightly before she decided she was just being oversensitive and headed away.

Unbeknownst to her, two figures emerged from behind a tree, staring after her retreating back.

One of these was the Black Scaled Dragon Shifter while the other was someone else entirely... someone who looked to be more an otherwordly being than he was a man.

"She is the one to whom your beast is attracted? The reason you keep coming to wolf territory?" The strange being asked in a domineering tone.

The Black Scaled Dragon Shifter grunted in response.

"Very well...if it pleases you, I will see to it." The strange being murmured as he turned around to head away but paused, passing a glance over his shoulder in the direction Neveah had disappeared.

"She calls you Black Scaled? Unbelievable." The strange being murmured with a shake of his head.

Neveah strode into the hall where the banquet was already in full swing with the Eclipse Alphas exchanging pleasantries and laughing heartily.

There was an extremely long table laden with all kinds of food and delicacies and this table was so long, it comfortably seated all the Eclipse Alphas on either sides of it whilst the Alpha King and Queen sat at the head of the table.

Alessio was seated at the right hand side of the Alpha King and he seemed to be the first to notice Neveah’s arrival.

Their gazes met for a moment before Neveah’s attention was drawn away by Lucas who called out to her.

"Veah! Come sit." Lucas said, gesturing to the vacant seat beside him and Neveah shook her head as Alpha Varleston turned his face to the side to hide the large grin on his lips.

Neveah smiled slightly, she had not set eyes on Lucas since she awakened in this lifetime and seeing him alive and safe filled her with a deep sense of relief.

Neveah made to head towards him but her path was blocked and her gaze lifted slowly to once again be faced with Alessio.

"Your place is at my side Veah...need I remind you?" Alessio asked, stretching a hand out to Neveah, his gaze narrowed into a glare, daring Neveah to reject his outstretched hand.

It was as though he was testing Neveah, to check if her words from before were true, if she truly felt nothing for Lucas Varleston of Eclipse Claw.

Neveah passed Lucas an apologetic gaze but the last thing she wanted to do at this point was watch Lucas make an enemy of Alessio.

Neveah took Alessio’s outstretched hand and let him guide her over to the vacant seat right beside him, he pulled the chair back and let her sit first before he took his own seat.

Neveah winced slightly when she noticed Lucas rise to his feet and head out of the hall, probably hurt that Neveah had ignored his invitation.

"Ignore him...pour me a glass of wine." Alessio said as he tilted his wine glass to Neveah.
