Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 516: Sandalwood 2 ()
"Sandalwood?" King Jian asked, uncertain if he had heard correctly.
"I... well, I knew there was something more... but I couldn’t place...it was sandalwood." Neveah muttered, keeping her gaze fixed on the ground.
’Why was she even in this situation in the first place? Why was she so shaken?’
Neveah had no answer for it, she had not even fancied this man at all, instead it had been quite the opposite...there were times when she had even detested him...or had she?
Thinking back on it, Neveah did not know...if she had ever even held anything against him.
"What?..." King Jian asked incredulously, clearly even more confused now.
He had not backed away even a little and Neveah was not certain for how long she could function while breathing in the manner she was.
"Your scent!...I meant your scent, okay?!" Neveah exclaimed in exasperation, glancing up at King Jian.
King Jian blinked in astonishment, before it dawned on him what Neveah meant and his lips stretched into a slow smirk.
"Enlighten me..." King Jian encouraged, leaning forward even closer.
His warm breath fanned over Neveah’s face as he spoke, with how close he was, Neveah’s senses were completely clouded with his scent.
Neveah backed up in desperate need of some reprieve, covering the last inch that separated her from the tree.
Now, with her back firmly pressed against it, there was truly no way of escape.
"I... well, there was an earthy musk, dying embers, rosewood...but something else I couldn’t place, some kind of undertone and I wondered what it was..."
"Overpowered by the rosewood, it makes sense I did not notice it at first... but it was sandalwood...the last thing... that you smell like..." Neveah mumbled, her sentence strung together in bits and pieces.
Neveah lamented her situation within her heart, she was certain she sounded like a creep to King Jian now, daydreaming about his scent down to the most minute detail and putting all that thought into deciphering it.
"I have heard wolf shifters have an extremely sensitive sense of smell...is that how I smell to you?" King Jian asked in a low, intrigued tone.
"I...well...yes..." Neveah murmured.
"And is it a good blend?" King Jian asked.
"I... good, yes." Neveah agreed, hoping King Jian would drop the topic.
"How good?" King Jian pressed, not showing any indications that he would be letting Neveah out of this.
"I..." Neveah bit down on her lip, unsure of what to say.
"How good, Neveah?" King Jian asked again,
This time, his hand moved, right hand resting on the tree by the side of Neveah’s head and his left hand went to Neveah’s jaw, gently tilting her head up so she stared right into his eyes.
It was outstanding how King Jian had two completely different coloured eyes, but both eyes had the exact same intense gaze.
"Intoxicating..." Neveah murmured out the word before she could stop herself.
The moment she said that word, King Jian’s orbs darkened in what was unmistakably desire,
His pupils dilated visibly and his tongue darted out to slide over his bottom lip.
King Jian let out a slow breath and Neveah swore, there was a change in the man before her eyes, like Neveah had flipped a switch she had not intended to.
Neveah’s eyes betrayed her will, trailing that simple, yet unbelievably erotic movement and she wondered to herself, what exactly she had been thinking about initially?
It was something about a switch... she could not remember exactly.
"Rather than contemplating out here by yourself, you should have just come to me...I do not mind letting you get intoxicated...to your satisfaction." King Jian murmured, his tone deep and husky.
His left hand was still on Neveah’s jaw and his thumb grazed over her skin slowly, noticeably close to Neveah’s lips.
"I apologise...’or what’ still sounds appealing to me." King Jian murmured.
"We had...an agreement..." Neveah reminded King Jian in a barely audible voice.
"Maybe you should have ended at sandalwood..." King Jian replied.
Neveah knew what was coming before it did, but nothing could have prepared her for the moment King Jian’s lips claimed hers.
Did dragons do more than just breathe fire? Why else did Neveah feel a sudden fiery surge rush through her veins, setting alight everything in its path and completely shattering any form of resistance she might have contemplated?
There was no hesitation, it was not a tentative test for compatibility, not a slow gesture seeking approval, the moment King Jian’s lips met Neveah’s, it was in a torrent of fiery passion.
It was a man claiming what was his, what had always been his...
It was instantaneous, complete and absolute possession... there was no battle for dominance, they both knew who was in charge.
King Jian’s hand encircled Neveah’s waist, pulling her closer to himself.
Neveah had not thought they could still get closer than they had been, but she was proven wrong.
Neveah could feel him completely, hard, sculpted chest and a broad frame she fit so perfectly into, like a final piece completing a puzzle...
The strength of his arms that held her in place even when Neveah felt like her legs just might give out,
His intoxicating scent...the genesis of all of this madness.
And then, there was the testament of his desire, aroused and strained against his Neveah’s thigh... Neveah did not dare let her thoughts wander down that path.
There were a dozen reasons why this should not have happened, infact, Neveah had spent most of the time in this forest contemplating a long, long list of reasons why she and King Jian could not be.
And she had been so convinced of these reasons only but a short moment ago, and now Neveah suddenly could not think of any of them...
Any reason why she should have refused him, any reason why she should not have reciprocated his kiss at the least.
And for the lack of reasonable justification, Neveah cast aside all thoughts, her hands which had been frozen by her sides moved to clutch King Jian’s robes.
The scents and sounds of the forest all faded away...all that was left was him, his scent... his breath, his imposing presence...his very existence...
