Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 51: Naming A Heir ()

The tolling of bells revebrated across the Eclipse Palace just like it had a few days before, however this time, the bells were tolled not to announce an emergency but to mark the beginning of a ceremonial day.

Neveah stood before her floor length mirror in her inner robes, from the reflection of the mirror, she watched Laila unravel the dress that had just been delivered to Neveah’s room.

Just as it had happened before, Neveah was delegated the duty of passing the Eclipse Fang Blade to Alessio and placing the crown on his head.

She was to play the part of the beloved and most cherished Eclipse Princess... certainly she had to look the part as well.

"It’s beautiful." Laila said with an awed gasp as she stared down at the pure white dress adorned with golden embroidery.

It was a sleeved dress made from a shimmering fabric, with a high collar and a cape attached to it.

Neveah scoffed inaudibly as her eyes fluttered closed... truly the dress was magnificent, however that was of no significance to Neveah.

Beautiful things... she had never had a lack of them, she was a trophy princess after all, it was only natural she was decked out in the most exquisite clothing and jewelries.

What the world did not know was the fact that it did not matter how beautiful the dress was, it was just another reminder of her caged life.

A dress chosen for her by her father to give off the narrative he desired for this event, ultimately, had the Alpha King sent over a box of rags, Neveah would still have to wear it and wear a smile along with.

"How do you want your hair done, princess?" Laila asked as she came up behind Neveah and ran a hand through her lush tresses the exact shade of fine gold.

"I am certain my father has already left instructions... just get it over with." Neveah said in a blank tone.

Laila winced visibly at Neveah’s tone, nodding in understanding and Neveah wondered not for the first time just what was Laila’s purpose for being at her side.

Laila got to work on Neveah’s hair and by the time she was done, Neveah’s hair was elegantly braided backwards whilst some of it was left cascading freely down her back.

"Done... let’s get you dressed, the crowning ceremony shall begin soon." Laila said with a smile.

Neveah got up to her feet and Laila helped her put on the dress, when she was ready, she stared at the mirror for a moment, taking in her reflection.

"What do you think?" Laila asked in a gushing tone and Neveah tilted her head to the side slightly, watching as her reflection did the same.

"Honestly? Nothing." Neveah said as she turned and strode out of her room.

The doors to the throne room were opened and Neveah walked into the hall, all eyes turning to settle on her almost immediately.

Neveah did not have to look her father’s way to know there would be a satisfied smile on his lips, this was the effect he desired.

The Eclipse Alphas stood in rows on either side of the long, winding carpet that led all the way up to the Eclipse throne.

There her father sat in his regal, imposing manner, as though he had the whole world beneath his feet and at his side was his Queen.

Alpha Queen Vilma... this was the first time Neveah had set eyes on her since she had awakened to a second chance at life and Neveah wished she could have gone without ever setting eyes on her again.

As always, the Alpha Queen looked impeccably beautiful, dressed in the most regal robes, sitting at her mate’s side, a glorified smile on her lips.

A smile that faded off the very moment Neveah strode in and stole all the attention away from her.

Alpha Queen Vilma’s gaze narrowed into a hateful glare, however it only lasted for a brief moment before she recalled where she was and quickly adjusted her expression, forcing a smile back to her lips.

Although it had only been for a moment, Neveah had caught that hateful glare and even now, the displeasure and loathing exuded off of the Alpha Queen could not be completely hidden.

Neveah remained frozen in spot for a moment, she was not particularly bothered by the Alpha Queen’s reaction, she only found that after tasting death... she now saw everything in a new light.

In the end, between the Alpha Queen and King pair, Neveah could no longer decide who was at a disadvantage or who pulled the other along on their path of certain destruction.

She had always believed all the blame lay with her father who had betrayed the mate bond and Alpha Queen Vilma was just a victim to the torments of a love betrayed and trust broken.

Neveah still believed her father was the one at fault yet after having died at the hands of her own mate,

Neveah realized the hard way that even the mate bond was not powerful enough to control the wickedness in the hearts of men.

If this had been so, Alessio would not have been able to kill his own mate... Alpha Queen Vilma’s viciousness was not solely the fury of a scorned woman, it was just who she truly was, Neveah could see that now.

In her previous lifetime, between her father who manipulated her and forced her to do his bidding against her own convictions,

And her supposed mother who poisoned her for sport and ensured Neveah could never take a single meal without being overwhelmed with dread and terror,

And her brother Alessio who derived pleasure from her cries of pain and helplessness, Neveah could not decide who was more loathsome.

Each was more hateful that the other and with every day in their grasp, each outdid the other... one could say Alpha King Lothaire rarely ever dealt physical harm to his daughter.

Yet he was perfectly fine with the idea of Neveah grasping hold of the heart of his target through their bed.

If one asked Alpha King Lothaire to name the number of men he had ordered Neveah to have relations with, he most likely would not be able to list them all...he was indeed a father unlike any other.

Neveah was unwilling to even expend her thoughts on the Alpha Queen as between the three, she was the only one who shared no blood ties with Neveah and had no reasons to treat her cautiously.

As for Alessio...he was just a monster with the face of a man.

Yet today, that monster would be officially crowned heir to the Eclipse throne and there Neveah was, walking down the path leading to the throne, the Eclipse Fang Blade held in her hand and her forced smile intact on her lips.

This was the reality of the Eclipse royal family... it was truly laughable.

"Greetings father, mother." Neveah said with a bow.

"At ease" Alpha King Lothaire permitted with an adoring smile.

Neveah then turned and bowed to the Eclipse Alphas before she took her place standing at the foot of the steps leading up to the throne.

Alpha King Lothaire rose up to his feet and made a short speech expressing his gratitude to the Eclipse Alphas for coming and his regrets on the Alphas Summit.

When he was done, he moved on to announce the reason for which the Eclipse Alphas were gathered.

All the while, Neveah tuned out of her father’s words and kept her gaze staring ahead, her attention only retuning to the present time when the doors to the throne room came open again and in walked Alessio.

As always, his every step was purposeful, his aura domineering, he looked every bit of the revered Eclipse Prince that he was known to be.

His gaze settled on Neveah just as hers did on him, Alessio had not appeared before her since he had walked away from her in the courtyard and setting eyes on him once again reminded Neveah of his words from that day.

Words of concern which had left Neveah feeling restless in the past few days as each minute passed by with her believing perhaps that would be her last.

Neveah was willing to admit after Alessio’s strange words, she had spent most of her nights half expecting he would pop out at any moment and kill her.

"On the morrow, my heir shall depart for Mount Vernon on a mission to acquire the Creator’s blessings. As his father and King, I trust in his worth and will."

"Before my Eclipse Alphas, feudal lords of the Eclipse domain, I will bequeath the Eclipse Fang Blade, the symbol of the royal heir to my son so it may guide him on his mission."

"And without a doubt in my heart that he shall return victorious, I hereby name Alessio Terran Lothaire my official heir, successor and future Alpha King of the Eclipse Domain." Alpha King Lothaire announced, cutting off Neveah’s thoughts.
