Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 165: Not Over ()
Neveah’s hand moved in a sharp twist, snapping the fragile neck in her grasp, a piercing shriek escaped Alessio’s impersonator, shaking the forest itself.
Neveah could only watch in horror as the visage of Alessio flickered, growing distorted till his entire form exploded into sparks of magic,
The explosion released an unseen force that sent Neveah flying back through the air and crashing into the ground with bone wracking force.
Where Neveah crashed down was right in the midst of the white mist and once again, it engulfed her from all around.
A quiet gasp of pain escaped Neveah’s lips as she turned over till she faced down on the ground, breathing heavily.
Neveah stared up, her chest rising and falling rapidly. She just lay there, staring up into the mist even as the whispers and whooshing sounds echoed all around her.
"Why am I still here? Is it not over yet?" Neveah whispered to herself as she struggled to calm her racing heart.
The mate bond still pulsed within her and Neveah gritted her teeth, it had only been a spell yet the reminder of Alessio had awakened the cursed bond. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Neveah sighed heavily, sitting up even when she could see nothing but the white mist.
"We have to get out of here, we can’t stay in here for too long." Neveah’s wolf thought to her.
Neveah nodded as she struggled up to her feet but froze up when her ears picked up the distinct sound of a sob.
Neveah remained frozen, listening closely and sure enough, the sound of distant sobs reached her.
"What is it this time? Do you reckon it is wise to follow it’s trail again?" Neveah asked her wolf.
"I do not think we have choice." Neveah’s wolf thought to her.
Neveah sighed quietly as she listened for the sound and slowly followed after it.
It took only a short walk before the white mist began receding once again, just as it had before.
What was revealed was a sight that astonished Neveah. Stretched far ahead of her was a desert of pure white snow.
Snow for as far as the eye could see and Neveah scrunched her eyes slightly as she glanced about till she spotted a strange woman.
The woman stood in the midst of the snow, quiet sobs sounded from her and each sob was filled with great despair.
A cold feeling settled in the pit of Neveah’s heart, not because of the sobbing woman...
What shook Neveah to the core was the color of this woman’s hair...a shade of pure white, as pristine as the fresh drops of snow itself.
And the sight of it brought a memory to Neveah’s mind.
...The winter draws near, Veah. As the first snow began to trickle, I was reminded of your mother...with hair as white as snow, her name was Eira...
Neveah recalled Alpha King Lothaire had written these words on a note that was sent to her in the Eclipse Hunt Pack.
Neveah shook her head slowly, a shaky breath escaping her as she took a step back.
Her hands shook and her heart raced frantically, knowing what this was going to be.
"No...not this...not her..." Neveah murmured to herself as she turned away and tried to make her way back, in the opposite direction, as far away from the woman with snow white hair as she could.
But Neveah found she could not take a single step, like a heavy weight pressed down on her limbs, her legs would not move.
"Veah..." A trembling voice called out from behind Neveah.
The sobs had faded, Neveah’s heart sank as she heard quiet footsteps approaching her from behind.
Neveah struggled against the unseen force keeping her rooted to spot but she could do nothing about it, try as she might, her legs would not budge.
"I can face anything else... anyone else, but not her..." Neveah whispered to herself as she felt the panic churning within her.
"Veah...my child..." The voice called again,
Though Neveah knew it was not real, though she knew it was all a spell, those words stirred an ache in her heart and a sob bubbled up to her throat.
Neveah bit her lip to hold it in, her hands clenching up into fists as she tried to draw strength from the mantra in her head.
’It’s not real... she’s not real...’ Neveah chanted in her head.
Neveah froze up the moment a hand rested on her shoulder, exuding a cold chill that seeped deep into her bones.
"Get away from me..." Neveah whispered as the hand trailed down her shoulder.
"Veah, my dear child...I have longed dearly for you. Why do you turn away from me?" The woman whispered in Neveah’s ears as her hand trailed down to Neveah’s tight fist.
"Take my hand, child. Take my hand and come with me...let me take you away from it all..." The woman coaxed.
Neveah bit her lip, it was horrifying how she knew clearly that this was all a spell yet her heart was tempted to fall for it...to take the offered hand and forget about everything else.
It was not even the the first time Neveah would be so stupid, all her life... the sole reason she had not dared escape the Alpha King’s control was nothing else but her desire to know of her mother.
To hear of even the slightest detail, Neveah was willing to do whatever the Alpha King bid her... even when it went against everything she stood for.
This had always been her greatest weakness and once again, it was presented before her and Neveah’s heart wavered.
"You are not her..." Neveah hissed in a shaky tone.
The woman did not respond immediately, instead her hand trailed up Neveah’s arm to her shoulder and then back down to her arm.
Right before the grip of the woman tightened painfully, Neveah shivered as cold chills spread across her body as though she was doused in snow.
"And how could you be certain...you never did know her, did you?..." The woman replied in a low whisper.
