Omega Ascension System[BL]-Chapter 302: _Mother-In-Law Zilla
Elian’s POV
*****
After the brief interaction with the council of fangs, Elian and the royals left for a brief evening stroll.
One that was mandatory... according to Lucian. For some obvious reasons.
[Cough... spoilers. Interrogation on the heart jewel necklace.]
’Who the heck do you keep talking to like that?’
[I don’t know, but if I were you, I’d peel my ears open and stick pipes in them. If she knows something about that jewel... it might be your first step in breaking Amara’s curse.]
Huh...
The group walked through the palace’s garden maze—a place with so much history within so little time.
[Heads against hedges while being railed—]
’Don’t make me miss when you were mute.’
[You little...]
"So," Elowen broke the silence, her golden robes catching moonlight like stars. "Sylas, right?" She turned her head to Sylas who walked beside her. Shy and quiet as always.
Lucian walked by Elian’s right, slinging an arm around his shoulders. The Alpha Prince seemed pretty laid back for someone who had to address the entire Empire in an hour or two.
"I have so many questions to ask you, I don’t even know where to begin." She let out the words breathlessly, brushing strands of his red curls. "You look like you’ve been through so much. Seen so much."
[Some of that is thanks to a certain fruitcake’s "experimenting" today. Controlling a dead goddess’s corpse. That should be a deadly sin or something.]
At this point, Elian felt like trailing off with the excuse of a headache, but he stayed put. As the system said... they needed to hear what Elowen had to say about that bracelet.
"Tell me... how was your childhood?" The Luna Queen questioned. "Were you adopted before Kyren took you in? Did... did anyone—"
"His memories have been altered, mother." Lucian sighed. "The only thing he remembers is being rejected by his parents for being an Omega. And even that is a false memory—"
"Lucian, please." Elowen cut him short, tilting her head to him. "I haven’t seen or touched this boy in eighteen years. Eighteen stolen years."
The pain in her voice was raw and unhidden.
Elian instantly felt the guilt hit Lucian. So he gently rubbed the arm he had around his shoulders.
After a few seconds, the Luna Queen breathed heavily. "A few minutes with him now won’t even make up for all those years. But I still want them. Every last second." Then she turned to Sylas, voice lowering. "Is what your brother said true? About you being an Omega?"
Sylas paused. Even his walking speed slowed down a few steps, blue eyes darting instinctively to Elian.
They both knew. The feeling. The stigma. The shame.
But this time, Elian didn’t feel any of that. So he gave him a subtle reassuring nod.
Seeing that, Sylas finally spoke. "Y–Yes. I am an Omega. Although, they say I also have a functioning mana core, making me a hybrid."
Elian could’ve sworn he heard Elowen’s heart beat stop for a few seconds.
Her lips parted and closed repeatedly, neck spinning to Elian and Lucian.
Neither said a word.
"A... hybrid?" She uttered the words with pure disbelief. "How... how’s that even possible?"
"I’m telling you..." Lucian, stubborn as ever, chimed again. "It’s a long story, Mom. One that ironically spirals back to one psychotic bitch and her demon husband."
Elian snorted at that while Elowen arched a brow. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"Huh?"
"Let’s forget about it." Lucian stretched out his other arm, dragging Elian along with him as he wrapped it around his mother. The woman’s reaction to Lucian showing any form of affection was always priceless.
"Aurora being here would’ve made this moment so much better." The Alpha Prince raised his head, staring at the stars already twinkling. "Can’t believe I got here before her. And she says I’m the tardy one."
Elowen chuckled at that, a genuine sound filled with so many things. Including hope.
For a moment, Elian couldn’t help looking at all three of them. One family. Bound by centuries of schemes and manipulations from their father and husband... and a certain cold-blooded witch.
Yet still standing strong, ready for whatever the world throws next.
Even the dreaded Rogue King and Garrick fucking Ironclaw were a part of this big circle—
—something he’s never had.
[Baby, don’t do this now...]
Flashes of those memories from the original Elian still haunted him. The screams. The laser blasts. The unnatural roars and bloody massacre that followed.
Suppressed Lycan his round ass...
He possessed a kid, forcefully made him devolve into an evolutionary ancestor from hundreds of thousands of years back... then destroyed his soul and his family in the process.
As if that wasn’t enough, he stole the body completely and blended in. So perfectly too.
Who’d ever suspect a wolfless Omega of being a fragment of a deity’s corpse?
"Elian?" Surprisingly, Lucian wasn’t the one who brought his mind back to Solara.
Elowen did.
He turned hastily, managing a smile when he stared into those sharp eyes.
[Yay, you’re back from your spiral. By the way, if you’ve ever wondered how powerful this woman is... yikes. She’s an ’Elder Sovereign Alpha’. Just a level below a Celestial sovereign like her husband. Meaning—]
’She could be at the same power level as one of those Celestial-cored witch councillors in Arcadia.’ Elian said confidently. ’Interesting.’
[Ouu, look at you! Finding things out yourself... except for your mission.]
"I... like what you’ve done with your hair." Elowen gestured, eyes flicking between his hair and face. "It’s a bold look. It would’ve gone beautifully with some precious jewel, don’t you think?"
Here they go...
Elian glanced at Lucian who looked like he wanted to give him space to do the honours.
Well... gladly.
"Are you referring to the heart jewel bracelet?" He asked, keeping his smile. "The one Lucian gave me?"
The Luna Queen’s eyes lit. "Yes! I didn’t want to say anything and ruin whatever you two have going on. You young folks make love so complicated... well, not like I hit the jackpot with mine."
"Mom." Lucian groaned while Sylas stifled a laugh.
Elowen shrugged. "What? You’ve seen all we discovered about your father. Believe me, I still love the man. Even after death." Her tone became melancholic at that last part. "But it doesn’t erase how things could’ve gone differently. Better."
And now that spins around to the main worm in the can...
"I don’t have the heart jewel with me, your majesty," Elian mumbled as if afraid to spill it all out.
Because he was.
The Queen’s pause was almost legendary. She blinked once. Then twice, as if to clarify she’d heard right. Then, slowly, she narrowed her eyes on him, straining her neck to search for the thing on his wrists.
Nothing.
[Someone’s about to go ’mother-in-law zilla’ on you. Twice the drama of a bridezilla.]
"Don’t have it with you?" Elowen repeated. "Why, darling? Also, you don’t have to call me ’your majesty’ or anything formal. You’re marrying my son for the moon’s sake."
Right...
Struggling, he swallowed hard.
How hard could it be? Just tell the woman how the gift she picked for her son to give him almost killed him. And was technically still trying to kill him.
Classic Elian...
"It’s..." he stuttered, glancing at Lucian again. All he offered was a nod to go on. Easy for him to say. "The bracelet got hijacked by a powerful witch’s curse. Transcendent level, in fact. It transferred any harm inflicted on her to me."
The main problem here was explaining without mentioning any of his abilities or the system. Especially the system.
Sharing his secrets with his mates was generous enough.
"W–What?" Elowen stopped walking entirely now, forcing the rest of them to stop as well. Horror twisted her features. "A transcendent level witch? H–How? Who even—"
"Remember the information box you gave Kyren?" Elian brought that up. "It revealed a lot of things to us. Experiments done by your husband and the leaders of the Dark Hand—including Kyren’s mother."
"Amara," Sylas whispered the name like it was an omen.
Silence stretched so thick enough to suffocate.
Elowen’s chest heaved, eyes calculating.
[She... doesn’t seem like the guilty type.]
No. She didn’t.
"Amara." Elowen echoed. "She’s a transcendent cored witch? Still within Arcadia’s borders?" She shook her head. "That doesn’t make any sense. From what I’ve heard the High Matron doesn’t play about keeping her power. Her post. She went as far as outlawing the birth of hybrids. Or could Amara be one of the councillors?"
Her fingers found Sylas’ palm at the word "hybrid". A clear but silent reminder that she would protect him. As long as she’s here.
Cute.
"Well, this might be a lot to process." Elian rubbed his forehead. "But Amara IS the High Matron. And her curse? It’s still active inside me as we speak."
Lucian’s arm left his shoulders the instant he said that last part.
Gods... he forgot. He hasn’t told him yet.
"Elian?" The Alpha Prince grabbed his shoulders. "What do you mean? I thought... I thought destroying the crystal would—"
"You DESTROYED a heart jewel?" Elowen’s voice rose an octave, filled with equal parts shock and terror. "One linked to you, Lucian? And automatically your mate?"
Oh—
[And there you have it... First step in solving this mess. You’re welcome.]
