Chapter 334: Agree to marry me

Jian Ci followed, his tone sly. "If it’s just medicine, then what are you hiding?"

"You are too nosy," Yu Xi shot back, picking up his pace.

In a sudden move, Jian Ci lunged forward, grabbing Yu Xi’s t-shirt and yanking him back against the wall.

"Let go," Yu Xi demanded, wriggling in his grip.

Jian Ci caught his wrists, pinning them. His voice dropped low, coaxing. "Little Xi, if you keep moving like that, you might start a fire you can’t put out."

Yu Xi glared. "If you let go, then there will be no fire."

Jian Ci smiled, his canine teeth flashing like a dog begging for a treat. "Why not start the fire... so you can put it out?"

Yu Xi laughed in amusement, pushing him away before darting into his room.

Jian Ci followed, only to find the door locked. He rushed to his own room, trying the adjoining door but that too was locked.

Jian Ci: "..."

He stared at the handle, baffled. Since when did the adjoining door have a lock?

Jian Ci suddenly realized that Yu Xi had never locked the door before. That was the difference.

He knocked calling out to his sweet heart.

From inside, Yu Xi chuckled. "Go away," he called, tossing the bag of things casually into his drawer. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Jian Ci actually stopped. That surprised him. He wasn’t the type to back down easily.

Yu Xi sat on his bed, a bed he hadn’t slept in for a long time since they had been staying at the condo more often. He wondered why Jian Ci wanted to come back here this time. Jian Ci had been acting suspicious lately, like he was hiding something. Yu Xi was curious, but he didn’t press him.

Just as he lay there staring at the ceiling, thinking he should probably go find Jian Ci and see why he was so quiet, the window slid wider.

The man he was just thinking about climbed in.

Yu Xi: "..."

Jian Ci crawled through the window with a smug expression, proud of himself for thinking fast.

"You!" Yu Xi exclaimed.

"Babe, nothing can keep me away from you," Jian Ci said, fully inside now, his hands still pressed to the floor.

Yu Xi chuckled angrily and threw a pillow at him.

The pillow hit Jian Ci squarely in the face. He yelped.

Before he could recover, Yu Xi smacked him again. And again. Pillow after pillow until Yu Xi ran out of ammunition.

Seeing that, Jian Ci leapt onto the bed. The two of them began to tussle, play-fighting like puppies.

Sometimes Jian Ci was suppressed, and Yu Xi took full advantage. He smacked Jian Ci’s butt, pinched his waist and laughed at his yelps. And when Jian Ci managed to pin Yu Xi, he wasn’t a gentleman either. He teased, tickled, and pressed down with all his weight, refusing to let Yu Xi wriggle free.

They fought until they were exhausted. Pillows lay scattered across the floor, the bed cover twisted, sheets mangled beyond recognition.

Both lay flat on their backs, facing the ceiling, huffing and puffing.

"You are so childish," Jian Ci muttered.

"No you are so childish," Yu Xi shot back. "Who climbs through the window? Are you crazy?"

"And who hits their husband with a pillow?" Jian Ci countered, deliberately dragging out the words. "That is so childish, don’t you think... Little Xi?" He turned his head, eyes gleaming.

Yu Xi smirked. "What husband? I don’t have a husband." His teasing smile was infuriatingly charming.

"You are right," Jian Ci said softly.

He rolled over, climbing on top of Yu Xi, his smile so dazzling it made Yu Xi’s heart jolt. "How about we make it official?"

Yu Xi’s breath caught. "Get off."

"Not unless you agree." Jian Ci’s voice was low, coaxing.

Yu Xi tried to act stupid. "Agree to what?" But his heart was thrumming in his chest, excitement betraying him.

Jian Ci leaned down, kissing his face tenderly. "Agree to be my husband."

Yu Xi felt like teasing him. When Jian Ci kissed his face again, Yu Xi turned away and said, "You already have a wife."

Jian Ci laughed. "Didn’t you take her away from me? In other words, she’s my ex-wife."

This so-called wife wasn’t even real, but here they were, arguing over her.

"I don’t want to marry you after her," Yu Xi said with a teasing smile. "I don’t want to be a homewrecker."

Jian Ci chuckled, his finger resting under Yu Xi’s chin, tilting his face back toward him. "Babe, you know there has never been anyone else but you. You are the only one in my heart. You know that, right?"

Yu Xi stared into those starry eyes, brimming with sincerity. His chest tightened. "Mm," he hummed, agreeing softly.

Jian Ci’s gaze dropped to Yu Xi’s moist lips. "Mm what?"

"Mm, I know." Yu Xi’s smile was dazzling, playful.

Jian Ci leaned in, about to kiss him but before their lips touched, Yu Xi flipped him over. Suddenly, Yu Xi was on top, pinning Jian Ci’s wrists to the bed.

Jian Ci laughed, breathless. "I take it you agree to marry me."

Yu Xi sneered. "Who agreed?"

And just like that, the two of them began to tussle again, rolling across the mangled sheets, acting like kids who couldn’t stop playing.

Yu Xi was fast asleep when Jian Ci called his name softly.

"Mm... what’s wrong?" Yu Xi murmured, his voice muffled with drowsiness.

"Little Xi, wake up. I want to take you somewhere," Jian Ci whispered.

Yu Xi hooked his arm around Jian Ci’s neck, pulling him down. "Too nosy. Let’s sleep a bit more."

Jian Ci let him hold him close, waiting. After five minutes, he began whispering again, coaxing: "Babe, I want to take you somewhere, but we have to leave soon. You can sleep later."

Yu Xi grumbled in his sleep. "It better be worth it."

Jian Ci’s smile lit up his face. "You won’t regret it."

"Mm," Yu Xi hummed, letting Jian Ci pull him up to his feet.

While Yu Xi was in the shower, Jian Ci took out the clothes he had set aside for him. He had been deliberate in his choice. He had chosen an outfit that would make it clear to anyone who saw them that they were a couple. Satisfied, Jian Ci walked to the bathroom and, without knocking, stepped inside.

Yu Xi glanced at him from under the spray of water, pushing his hair back. "What are you looking at?"

Jian Ci’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his throat dry, his gaze hungry. He looked every bit thirsty.
