Obsessed with a High-Ranking Esper (BL)-Chapter 332: Jian Wei getting his assistant back
She returned to the screen, sending gifts, joining the chorus of fans begging the dancer to take off his shirt. But then Jian Wei messaged again: Please.
Xiaobao furiously typed: I said I am busy, I can’t come!
When she looked back, the shirt was already off. She had missed the best part, the slow reveal.
Annoyed, she immediately called Jian Wei through video.
Jian Wei blinked at the incoming call, surprised she even bothered. He answered, only to be met with her livid expression.
"What, what, what! What do you need, your highness?" Xiaobao snapped.
Jian Wei furrowed his brows. Not once had she ever called him that. It was always Jian Wei, Wei-ge, Wei Wei, Ah-Wei... but never by his title.
He wanted to retort, but instead he shut his mouth. "Sorry. Did I disturb you?"
"Yes, you did," Xiaobao shot back. "I was watching my... something, and you ruined it."
Jian Wei’s jaw tightened. He knew he needed her back in the lab as his assistant, so he had to be extra nice.
"I wanted to take you shopping," he said carefully, "as a way to apologize."
Xiaobao blinked, stunned. Jian Wei didn’t even know what the door of a store looked like, he hated shopping so what the hell was he talking about.
Xiaobao leaned back on the couch, her smile sharp. "I don’t need you to apologize," she had said. "You already did." Her tone cut deep.
"That’s the thing," Jian Wei countered. "You say you forgave me, but you don’t act like you forgave me."
Her sneer was quick and biting. "So you think I can be bought back with clothes?"
"No, no," Jian Wei had rushed to explain. "How about this—you can have a day where we do whatever you want. In exchange, you hear me out."
Xiaobao stared at him, as though weighing the offer. Then she said, "Anything?"
The word unsettled him. His gut twisted in alarm. "No, not any—"
"Then bye," she cut him off, her finger hovering over the disconnect.
"Wait, wait, wait!" Jian Wei blurted out. "Anything. Just... don’t go too far."
"Fine," she said, before hanging up.
An unsettling smile crept across Xiaobao’s face after she ended the call. She was going to let him go before, but now that he had brought himself right to her door, there was no escape.
On the other side, Jian Wei stared at the floating screen with a blank expression. A shiver suddenly crept up his spine. He had a very bad premonition.
Jian Wei’s gut feeling had been right. The next morning, he hadn’t even woken up when his communicator went wild, buzzing nonstop. He cracked open his heavy eyes and saw Xiaobao’s name flashing across the screen. He had only slept three hours thus he was still so sleepy. He groaned, ignored it, and even set the device to silent before sinking back into his pillow.
But when he opened his eyes again, Xiaobao’s smiling face was right there.
For a moment, Jian Wei thought he was dreaming. Then she said, "You ignored my calls."
He jolted upright, screaming. Regret hit him like a tidal wave. For the rest of the day, he was dragged along to an amusement park, dance class, spa, salon, shopping. Xiaobao moved like she was speed-running through activities, afraid he would never agree to this again. Jian Wei was exhausted, his legs aching, his mind numb.
When they finally got home, he thought it was over. But Xiaobao turned to him with bright eyes. "Let’s go swimming."
The weather was hot enough, but Jian Wei hated swimming. Still, he agreed on the condition he wouldn’t get into the pool. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Xiaobao didn’t argue, which should have been his warning. She jumped in, splashing happily, swimming to her heart’s content. "How’s my form? Give me feedback!" she called.
Jian Wei stood at the edge, showering her with compliments, inattentive and half-hearted.
That was when Xiaobao splashed him deliberately, soaking his shirt.
Jian Wei froze, staring down at the wet fabric clinging to his chest while Xiaobao laughed with a smug expression.
"Are you serious?" he demanded.
Xiaobao’s look said it all: What? What are you going to do about it?
Jian Wei: "..."
With a sharp motion, he peeled off his wet t-shirt. Xiaobao’s eyes widened. Her plan had been simple, make him pay for ruining her chance to see the dancer take off his shirt. But who would have thought she had get a live show instead?
She had to admit, Jian Wei was just as toned as the dancer. When he stripped off the shirt, her eyes sparkled, caught in a daze.
She only snapped back to herself when there was a loud splash. Jian Wei had jumped in.
Xiaobao shrieked, swimming away, but Jian Wei caught her and retaliated, splashing her with water. She screamed and laughed, splashing back, the pool echoing with their chaotic battle.
When Jian Wei realized he had actually gotten into the water, he cursed himself. Xiaobao had led him step by step, and like an idiot, he had fallen for it, but... he had fun. He couldn’t hold it against her. Later, he sat at the edge of the pool, dripping, while Xiaobao continued swimming. She swam over, resting her arms on the edge.
"So," she asked, "what is it you wanted to talk about?"
Jian Wei looked at her seriously. "Come back and be my assistant again."
Xiaobao tilted her head. "Didn’t you call me a bother?"
Jian Wei sighed looking away for a couple of seconds. He never thought he would admit it but he was wrong, Xioabao wasn’t a bother. She made his day better.
When he finally turned his head back he said, "I was wrong."
"Really?" she pressed.
"We bicker a lot," Jian Wei admitted, "but I do enjoy your company."
Xiaobao smiled, her chin resting on het arms. "Okay, buttttt you are not allowed to call me a bother ever again."
"Deal," Jian Wei said, stretching out his hand.
She shook it firmly. "Deal."
For the first time in days, Jian Wei felt the tension ease. He finally had his assistant back
