Obsessed to Hate Him-Chapter 71: Don’t Die
LIAM
Vivana didn’t reject me when I said I wanted to go. She Just silently nodded her head and escorted us back to my room. Kian and I didn’t talk about it. There is nothing to talk about.
I don’t know where I got all the courage from. But somehow I did. And I am pretty sure that I have dug my own grave. Now I just want to stand in front of my mirror and grimace at myself. If that can make me feel better.
The rain turned into a drizzle a few hours later. So the palace is now in full swing to set us off to the enemies’ den. I am at last escorted to the carriage by Vivana. She pulled me out of my mother’s clutches and threw me into here. My mother is miserable. She is wailing, crying, and turning the palace upside down. Vivana said she would handle it. And now she is off to handle it.
So, I am sitting alone in the carriage, looking out absentmindedly. The sky is still dark. And I am pretty sure that the drizzle will turn into another storm soon enough. We should set out before then.
But where is my partner? Well, Kian was drugged away by his aunt when I was busy in the brawl with my mother. My father had come to talk to me a few minutes ago, but I dismissed him. Looking at him makes my stomach churn.
I know whatever happened wasn’t his fault. He was just under pressure. But he could at least consent to me before he did any of that. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
In any case, Vivana should be here any moment now. And Kian should be here as well. I am a little, no, very worried about this mission. I have this terrible feeling inside the pit of my stomach that I can’t get rid of no matter what I try. It is almost like it is gnawing at me. And it is the worst feeling.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
I almost jump out of my skin, when I hear the abrupt firm knocks on the window of the carriage.
Vivana is standing outside, water dripping from her dark damp hair.
I blow out a breath, feeling my heart leave my throat to beat in my throat. "You should come with a notice, Vivana." I shoot her a disgruntled look.
"I told you, I will come to give you a parting word, Liam." She shrugs and I pull a face. "So, where is your commander?"
I feel the heat rushing to my cheeks and the back of my neck, burning my skin and staining it with a blush. "What do you mean, ’my commander’?" My defense mode is on and I return sharply.
"Why are you getting all defensive like this?" Vivana smirks mischievously. "So, is it indeed yours? Huh?"
Okay, I can confirm without looking at the mirror that I am blushing out of my head, "Vivana! It is nothing like that."
"I hope it is not." She suddenly switches her tone to a more serious one, "I don’t want any royal controversies."
I grimace.
She eyes me for a beat then sighs, "Be careful when you are there. Don’t let your guard down even for a bit. In fact, if needed, don’t even sleep. Stick by the Commander’s side all the time. I know he is a potential threat also. But I don’t think he will pull anything stupid there."
"Well, did Your Highness just call me ’stupid’?" Kian’s deep rumbling voice floats in, cutting through the atmosphere like razor blades.
Vivana pauses, and I stifle laughter, my lips twitching and shoulders shaking from restrained laughter.
"I happen to find it very unpleasant and rude, Your Highness." Kian walks up to us to stand beside Vivana, an unreadable look embedded on his boldly charismatic chiseled face.
If I didn’t know better, I would have thought that he was actually offended. But I know Kian Eryx better than anyone here, so I know he is just playing with Vivana and it is fun to see the prim and proper crown princess squirm under Kian’s piercing blue eyes. Though she isn’t squirming figuratively.
"I didn’t mean it to sound like that, Commander." Vivana pivots to face Kian. It is really so fun to see two apex predators face off like this even if they are not murderous to each other. ,
"I expected better from you, Your, Highness." Kian peers down at her, his eyes could freeze the volcano.
Vivana opens her mouth for a counter, but before she can get any word out, I hold out my palms in the air. "You guys are being unreasonable." I sigh, "Stop bickering like kids." I say so primely and execute an air of scholarly, it is almost comical.
"We are not bickering." Vivana and Kian say at the same time, then glare down at each other. I can almost see streams blowing from their nostrils.
My head droops and I sigh as I shake my head in displeasure. "We are getting late," I say pointedly so that they would abandon their childish behavior, though I wouldn’t mind if they cut their throats on the battlefield.
They glare at each other for another moment before Kian climbs into the carriage. "Right. We are already late."
Just now, I only notice that he is not even a little wet, as if the rain didn’t even touch him. Must be because he manipulated the gravity around him. I try not to sneer as I feel jealousy stroll down my spine.
"Now then." Vivana starts after blowing out a breath to calm her nerves, "Liam, you are my only brother left after the other idiots died. So, I expect you to return in one piece." Funny. "I will be damned if I have to attend your funeral."
"Sisi, this is not how you send your brother off and wish him the best of luck." My nose scrunches so does my forehead.
But Vivana seems not to hear me at all as she continues, "So, come back intact."
I see Jennifer come to stand behind Vivana through my periphery, waving at us. The carriage sets off afterward. I let out a breath, feeling the world weight down on my shoulders heavier than ever.
"So, Liam." Kian’s cool deep voice drags my attention to him effortlessly. He smiles, "Don’t die."
I smirk, "Same goes for you."
