In the room teams were seated who will participate in the upcoming competition.

Kael team was seated at the far corner of the room.

Kael, their leader, stood at the front.

Lira leaned back in her chair, a playful glint in her eyes as she twirled a dagger between her fingers.

Marcus, sat with his arms crossed, his sharp gaze fixed on Kael.

Ren, the archer, quietly observed, his focus unshakable.

Aelina, sat beside him.

Kael cleared his throat, drawing everyone’s attention.

"Listen up, everyone. Our goal is to move quickly and complete it efficiently. The faster we finish, the quicker we can take on the higher-tier missions.Time is precious,To achieve this, I’ve come up with a strategy."

He paused for a moment, letting the tension build before continuing.

"For us to finish this faster and secure our spot, we need to split into two teams," he said, his tone leaving little room for argument.

"Once the missions are posted tomorrow, we’ll grab two at a time and divide the workload. It’s the only way we’ll stay ahead."

"That way, we can take on multiple missions at once"

As Kael made the announcement, a few members shifted in their seats, exchanging glances.

"It’s Sounds good to me." Marcus said.

Lira raised an eyebrow. "Wait a minute—are you seriously splitting us up like this? We’re already outnumbered. Dividing us into smaller teams doesn’t sound like the best idea."

Ren, who had been quietly observing, raised an eyebrow. "Strategically, it could work. But Lira’s not wrong. Splitting up means we’ll be less versatile if something goes wrong."

Aeline,tapped her chin thoughtfully.

"It depends on how we divide the roles. If both teams are balanced, it’s doable. But if one team lacks power or support, it could delay us instead of speeding things up."

Kael held up a hand to silence the growing debate, his expression unflinching.

"I hear you all, but this isn’t just about safety—it’s about efficiency. We can’t afford to waste time. Here’s how we make this work."

"Aelina and I will be one team." Kael said

"What the second team kael." Ren asked.

"This dumb asshole" Marcus said.

Kael ignored them as he continues

"Marcus’s offensive skills and Ren supporting skill and lira assassin skills you three will be great link up"

Lira hesitated still unconvinced. "And what — if it doesn’t wo—"

Kael interrupted, his tone steady but firm.

"Lira, I know it’s risky. But if we stick together, we’ll only be able to complete one mission at a time, and that’s not enough. I trust you. You’re more than capable of handling this."

Lira blinked, caught off guard by the rare praise, but eventually nodded.

"Fine. But don’t blame me if we end up taking longer."

Marcus leaned back in his chair, grinning. "I’ll bet we finish our batch before you two even get halfway."

Kael smirked faintly. "We’ll see."

"If we’re doing this, we need clear communication. No taking unnecessary risks." Aelina added.

Ren nodded in agreement.

"That’s reasonable. Two teams mean two missions at a time, which is an advantage if we’re careful."

"Then it’s settled."Kael said , his voice firm.

The group exchanged nods, the tension easing as the plan solidified.

Despite their concerns, they trusted Kael’s judgment—and the fire of competition sparked in their eyes.

Each team was determined to prove their worth and secure victory.

Kael leaned back as the group’s discussions ended.

Their concerns about splitting up were valid, but in the back of his mind, he wasn’t overly worried.

He rested his chin on his hand.

If I wanted to, I could handle all of this myself, he mused. Ten C-rank missions? Seven B-rank? Even the A-rank ones wouldn’t be a challenge if I went all out.

I could secure first place for our team without breaking a sweat.

But he clenched his fist subtly, careful to keep his expression neutral.

That’s not the point, though.

If I show my real skills here, the ripples would be too big.

The future’s already fragile enough as it is.

If I stand out too much now, the academy—and the one that pulling strings behind the scenes—might change their plans.

And when plans change, new threats pop up. Stronger ones.

Kael’s gaze flicked to his party members.

Lira was still sulking slightly but clearly preparing herself for the challenge.

Marcus wore his usual cocky grin, and Ren was deep in thought, likely strategizing for their side of the missions.

Aeline, ever the voice of reason, was already double-checking supplies in her bag.

They’re strong, Kael thought, a faint pang of guilt tugging at him.

But they don’t know what’s coming.

Not yet. It’s better this way.

Let them grow at their own pace while I stick to the shadows.

His mind wandered back to the novel he had read.

He knew how the academy’s trials would unfold—at least, he thought he did.

There were events that could still align perfectly with the story, but others…

The moment I step out of line, the plot might spiral.

It’s not like I don’t want to change it.

I do.

But if I reveal too much too soon, it’ll attract attention I can’t afford right now.

Kael’s resolve only hardened. I’ll keep holding back for now.

But when the time comes, I’ll make my move.

And when I do, no one will see it coming.

_______

(POV : Alise - Shirone party member)

There are two rules to winning first place, she thought, her lips curling into a wicked smile.

First, you work harder than everyone else. And second… you make sure everyone else works harder to fail.

Her eyes scanned the room, lingering briefly on Kael’s team gathered in the corner.

Kael himself was deep in discussion with his party members, his calm demeanor almost infuriating.

Lira was animated as usual, and Marcus had that obnoxious smirk plastered on his face.

The cream fillers. Efficient and fast.

If left alone, they’ll climb to the top without breaking a sweat.

And then there’s the princess’s team.

Her gaze shifted to Lumia, seated across the room with her group.
