North American Detective: I am Proficient in All Kinds of Gun Quick Draws-Chapter 546 - 315 Ending the Endurance Part 3
As for Black Widow and her two teammates, Dean guessed they probably hoped that after Barton went berserk, he would target Kaxiu instead of them. π³ππ²ππ¨ππ―πππ§ππΉ.π°πΌπ
To stay alive, everyone is desperately scheming against all threats, Dean couldn't help but reflect.
In truth, he had just concealed and distorted a great deal of information.
For example, the cargo ship that had appearedβwas it really filled with ordinary people?
Dean suspected those people were all experimental subjects too. They were likely part of another phase of the experiment, sharing the same trial as the players on his cruise ship.
Then there was his earlier speculation about mutations.
Dean knew with certainty that, aside from himself, everyone on this ship had been injected with the unknown drug. Mutations were merely a matter of time. This included Cheston En; there were simply no survivors.
He was puzzled.
Why did the letter he received earlier mention that the hope for survival lay with Spider Woman?
Based on his observations, Dean hadn't sensed anything special about Spider Woman.
If it weren't for his presence as an anomaly, everything on the cruise ship would have proceeded according to the Lucifer Organization's script.
Dean had no doubt that what followed on the cruise and cargo ships would be utterly inhuman, playing out every imaginable atrocity and taboo of human nature.
However, Dean glanced at Barton, whose head had begun to bob gently. Dean's eyelids slowly drooped.
The hypnotic effect wouldn't last long on Barton, given his abnormal physical condition.
His restraint was about to end.
γTime passed.γ
Following Dean's guidance, Cheston En and Black Widow easily persuaded most of the players on the cruise ship.
They persuaded *most* because some complications arose.
After hearing the plan, everyone fell silent.
Two people openly expressed that deceiving the cargo ship for food was immoral and cruel.
The people on the cargo ship were in a similar plight.
And according to the mission prompt, there were families with children on board.
Once deprived of food, those people would face a dire situation.
A burly bald man, swinging a steel pipe, said viciously, "So what? The people on the cargo ship are just a bunch of stowaways. Even if we do nothing, they won't last two days. Since that's the case, they might as well benefit us!"
"That's right!" another middle-aged woman chimed in, rubbing her growling stomach. "The cargo ship has children, but don't we have children too? Besides, it's this endless stream of stowaways that has ruined our country. They don't deserve to breathe the same free air as us!"
"You..."
The two who had spoken out looked at the crowd, bewildered, apparently not expecting such a response.
Oh, God! Where is your compassion? This isn't like in the movies!
The burly bald man gave them no chance to speak further, raising his steel pipe and smashing it down hard.
These fools simply didn't understand. From the moment Task Two appeared, everyone else became an obstacle to survivalβan enemy! Go tell your God about compassion!
With this blow, he used all his strength. He hoped to eliminate two people who would otherwise share the food and, incidentally, reduce the difficulty of completing Task Two for himself.
The bald man attacked suddenly. For a moment, no one reacted.
The two who had spoken out hadn't expected him to strike so suddenly. They could only watch, eyes wide, as the bald man's steel pipe whistled through the air and smashed down.
A dull THUD.
A line of blood trickled down the forehead of one of the men who had advocated for compassion.
His eyes bulged. His body sagged to its knees, then slumped to the deck. He twitched a couple of times and then lay stillβthe second player eliminated from the game.
The scent of blood filled the air, thoroughly awakening the beast within each person.
The other dissenter had no chance to flee before being overwhelmed by a flurry of steel pipes from all directions.
The screams quickly died down. When the crowd's fervor subsided, only two mangled corpses remained on the deck.
Kindness, here, was worthless.
After the bloodshed, people instinctively kept their distance. Without needing to be told, they began to act.
Some dragged the bodies away. Others took the hoses on deck and washed away the splattered bloodstains.
Once finished, they deliberately positioned themselves around the cruise ship's deck. Leaning against the railings, they watched the distant cargo ship, occasionally waving as if they were carefree sightseers.
Those on the cargo ship remained oblivious to the brutal murders that had just occurred on the cruise shipβtheir supposed beacon of hope.
They maneuvered the cargo ship closer, covering several dozen more meters, before it ground to a halt.
At that moment, both sides could nearly make out the figures standing on each other's decks.
Aboard the cargo ship, a person dressed as a sailor excitedly waved a flag.
Unfortunately, no one on the cruise ship responded.
After a while, a few people on the cargo ship's deck huddled together, muttering for some time. Eventually, several more emerged from the cabin. They boarded a lifeboat on the ship's side, which was lowered into the water by mechanical pulleys, and then began to row laboriously towards the cruise ship through the choppy waves.
Aboard the cruise ship, Black Widow and her two teammates exchanged glances, each discerning the amazement and apprehension in the others' eyes.
That guy... he predicted everything! It's all happening exactly as Dean said!
γElsewhere.γ
Dean slowly rose to his feet.
Not far in front of him, Barton, who had been sitting quietly, lifted his head again.
By Barton's side, Kaxiu bit his lip so hard it nearly bled, enduring the excruciating pain without daring to make the slightest sound. Help me!
He had seen what happened to Barton's previous teammate after mutating.
Kaxiu didn't even dare look at Barton now, terrified that their eyes might meet. If they did, he feared Barton would target him and instantly pulverize him.
Suddenly, in this state of extreme terror, Barton's eyes widened.
It's that guy, the one calling himself Dean! He's actually walking over here? How dare he!
