Chapter 918: Chapter 914: Did You Have a Fight with Uncle? (Part 1)

She stood there, caught in a dilemma.

"Let her go." Asher Land’s cold voice suddenly broke in, startling Nanny Garcia.

Let Sophie leave just like that?

Is he sure he won’t regret it?

Nanny Garcia continued to block Sophie’s path, but Asher’s impatient voice came once more.

"I said, let her go."

This time, Nanny Garcia indeed didn’t dare to defy Asher’s wishes any longer.

She moved aside, making way for Sophie.

Sophie, holding Alexander’s hand, didn’t look back at him even once and quickly disappeared from his sight.

Asher took a deep breath from the bottom of his heart, tore off his tie, and threw it aside. It seemed that even so, his breathing wasn’t smooth enough, so he reached to unbutton a few of his shirt’s buttons.

He sat powerlessly on the sofa, closing his eyes.

The servants discreetly left the hall, not daring to make any noise.

He rubbed his temples that were throbbing with pain, the self-mocking smile on his lips growing deeper.

Sophie, oh Sophie, are we really going to end up like this?

...

In the car.

Alexander didn’t dare say a word because his mother’s expression at the moment indeed carried a hint of chill.

She drove expressionlessly, her gaze fixed on the straight road ahead.

Maybe it was the long repression, Alexander couldn’t hold it in any longer.

"Mommy, you argued with Uncle, didn’t you?"

Actually, Alexander could see it with one glance — it was not just any argument; it was a serious one.

"No." Sophie didn’t even know what she was trying to conceal from Alexander.

"But I clearly saw Uncle pouring milk into your mouth!" Alexander said indignantly, "He even smashed the cup; he was bullying you, Mommy."

"Alexander!" Sophie sighed, "Don’t say anything more."

She now unconsciously always avoided Asher’s name, and whenever she thought of him, a pain she couldn’t bear would fill her heart.

Seeing Sophie in a bad mood, Alexander stopped talking.

Sophie drove the car to her apartment building, parked, walked into the elevator, and pressed the button for her floor.

With a ’ding’, the elevator doors opened, Sophie holding Alexander’s small hand, stepped out. As she lifted her eyes, she saw the figure of a tall man standing at the door.

"Mr. Davis, why are you here?"

"Are you alright?"

He only found out about her from Eva Miller. The incident of her being hit by Irene Morton’s car at the agency’s entrance didn’t cause much of a stir and was quickly suppressed, but coincidentally, he got the news from Eva. She had been through a car accident, but the final result had reassured him.

After all, she’s standing safe and sound beside him now, isn’t she?

Sophie didn’t directly answer his question, instead, she took out the key from her bag and opened the door.

She went inside first, Nolan Davis hesitated for a moment but still followed her.

He sat down on the sofa, and Sophie walked into the kitchen, only to find there’s nothing there at all.

Not even drinkable water.

"I’m sorry, Mr. Davis, I moved out for a while, so..." Sophie tugged at her lips, a hint of embarrassment on her face, "Are you thirsty? I can go downstairs to buy you coffee or a drink, what would you like?"

"I don’t need anything." He lifted his eagle-like sharp eyes and scanned her over, seemingly wanting to discern something.
