Noble Pampering: Demon CEO's Relentless Entanglement-Chapter 909 - 905: The Third Funeral
Luke Land simply couldn’t stop him.
He walked out of the hospital, dialing Sophie Smith’s number again and again, but no one answered.
Damn it, where on earth had she gone?
...
This was the third funeral she attended.
The first two were for her own mother and father.
This time, it was Wyatt Sterling.
She always remembered their first meeting.
He was gentle and warm, his lips always curled into a comforting smile.
He stood before her, looking down at her.
Recalling how he raised an eyebrow and said with a smile, "Well, that’s great, I’m your Senior Brother now. How about calling me Senior Brother?"
She lowered her head, hesitantly calling out ’Senior Brother.’
Thinking of the past, Sophie couldn’t help but feel her eyes sting. She closed her eyes, slightly lifting her head to keep the tears from falling.
She stood there in a black dress, under the bright and warm sunlight.
"Sophie..." Eva Miller gently tugged at her sleeve, "Let’s go offer the flowers."
With a bouquet of white chrysanthemums clenched in her hands, she felt too heavy to move forward.
The members of Wyatt Sterling’s family were all casting unfriendly glances in her direction.
Sophie instinctively lowered her head.
Under Eva Miller’s gentle urging, she took a step forward. Each step felt like stepping on sharp blades, the pain cutting through her flesh and into her bones, suffocating her.
Bending down, she placed the bouquet of white chrysanthemums in front of the tombstone.
She looked up and happened to see the stern black-and-white photograph on the tombstone.
In a black suit, white shirt, with a slight upward curve at the corner of his lips, he looked just the same as when she first met him.
The tears she could no longer hold back slid down her cheeks.
"Alright, now that you’ve fulfilled your wish to see him, you can go," Logan Sterling, Wyatt’s father, approached, coldly dismissing her.
"I’m sorry, Uncle Sterling, I really didn’t expect things to turn out this way. It’s all my fault, I’m sorry, I’m sorry..."
Sophie was almost in tears, standing out in the otherwise quiet and solemn cemetery.
"Let’s go." Logan waved his hands, the pain on his face apparent.
In the eyes of parents, without a doubt, burying a child is the most despairing thing.
"Uncle Sterling..."
"I said, leave!" Logan pushed Sophie away as she clutched his sleeve, causing her to fall to the ground.
"Sophie!" Seeing this, Eva quickly ran over to help her up.
"Let’s forget it, let’s go..." Eva pulled Sophie, wanting to leave.
Sophie knew that at this moment, she was a thorn in this family, no one would welcome her.
Staying here would only cause more people sadness and anger.
After standing still for a long while, she finally turned and left.
While driving nearby, Eva kept glancing her way, seeing Sophie resting her head against the car window, her eyes empty and gazing ahead.
"Sophie, say something..."
Seeing Sophie remain silent, Eva was truly worried.
Talking?
Did she really have nothing to say?
It was because of her that Wyatt Sterling ended up like this, she was the culprit.
"Eva, I feel so terrible, I really feel terrible inside..." Her previously silent tears now poured out, her voice choked, intermittent.
"Sophie..."
Eva felt frustrated. Though she wanted Sophie to speak, she didn’t want to hear her say this.
