When Luke Land and Oscar Land rushed to the East Garden, Asher Land was still asleep in his room.
"What good deed were you up to last night?" Luke Land sneakily eyed Asher lying on the bed. He must have exerted himself too much last night and worn himself out.
"Just a cold." He coughed a few times, and his voice was somewhat hoarse as he spoke.
His health was always quite good; catching a cold was rare for him in any season. However, recently, he had overexerted his body, working day and night at the company without returning to the Land Family home. When he returned last night, he foolishly took a cold shower, resulting in his current condition.
"Why are you so focused on the company matters? Didn’t you hear what the old man said last time?" Luke Land probably guessed the reason for his illness.
"What did he say?" He actually knew but still intentionally asked back.
"He said he’d rather take the Golden Era Consortium to hell than hand it over to us, this bunch of ingrates. So why should we work so hard?" Luke Land recalled with some indignation. They were all his biological sons. For years, they had been dedicated to the Golden Era Consortium. Even if they didn’t have achievements, they worked hard. How could the old man say such things?
"If he doesn’t want to give it, do we not know how to take it by force?" He sneered, "If he wants to take the consortium to hell, then let’s see if he has the skills to do so."
Luke Land’s mouth dropped open, clearly shocked by Asher Land’s audacious tone.
"Are you sure you can take it?"
"You’ll see when the time comes, won’t you?"
Compared to Luke Land’s astonishment, Oscar Land remained extremely calm.
Asher Land was right; if he wasn’t willing to give, they would have to take it by force.
"By the way, did you take care of the thing I asked you to last time?" Asher Land suddenly inquired.
"It’s a bit challenging," Luke Land replied.
Last time, Asher Land asked him to replace all the security and some of the trusted aides around the old man at the Land Family with their own people. Replacing the security was manageable; utilizing his status as the second young master of the Land Family, he could handle that. However, such a blatant replacement would surely arouse suspicion, not to mention replacing Nathan Land’s trusted aides.
"I hinted to Enzo Land about the matter of replacing the Land Family security, but he immediately grew suspicious, and I couldn’t continue. It looks like we’ll have to proceed with small-scale replacements first, step by step."
Now that Nathan Land was critically ill, it was the perfect time for them to make their move, a golden opportunity to change the guards stealthily. If they replaced all the Land Family personnel with their own, it would serve as compelling leverage against the old man. In other words, even if the old man awoke and wanted to retaliate against them, he couldn’t command their people, making any effort futile.
He wanted to turn Nathan Land, who once controlled everything, into a puppet they, the three brothers, could manipulate.
"For the security replacement, we need to put on a show to fool Enzo Land," Asher Land said, arms crossed, leaning against the bed as though plotting something.
"How are we supposed to act? Enzo Land is very perceptive."
"I’ll ensure it’s a show he’ll never forget," Asher Land’s smirk grew increasingly obvious.
