Noble Pampering: Demon CEO's Relentless Entanglement-Chapter 613 - 609: The War Between Two Men (6)
Sophie Smith gently opened the door, with only a warm orange light left in the room.
She turned back, looking at the man frozen behind her, helplessly curling her lips into a smile.
"This is your son, not some virus or bacteria, so why are you standing so far away? Come in." She opened the door a little wider and playfully made an inviting gesture to him. For some reason, seeing Asher Land meet Alexander seemed to make her happier than anyone else.
He lightened his steps, slowly walking toward the adorable crib.
The crib was draped with light blue curtains, and inside, it was filled with many cute stuffed toys. The child lay there, eyes closed, sleeping peacefully.
The chubby little face looked so tempting to gently pinch. The baby had his mouth half-open, a tiny pink tongue visible, with long lashes casting shadows on his white skin. It had been so long since he’d seen the child, and the changes in a toddler were astounding. If a few more months passed, he feared he might feel a bit unfamiliar with his own child.
He felt that Sophie Smith’s decision to take the child away initially was the right one. With her by the child’s side, he indeed felt much more at ease.
"Asher, would you like to hold Alexander?"
Hold him?
He glanced down at his left hand. Could he still hold him?
Sophie knew what Asher Land was thinking, and she would not allow him to doubt himself in that way.
She carefully picked up the child from the crib and handed him to Asher.
"Hold Alexander."
Perhaps because Sophie had picked Alexander up from the crib, he felt the movement and actually opened his eyes. Alexander looked at Asher Land in front of him, with no hint of unfamiliarity, nor did he cry or fuss from being disturbed, but simply looked quietly at him with his bright, watery eyes.
Asher Land’s heart inexplicably shuddered.
As if compelled by an invisible force, he reached out and held the child in his arms.
His right hand was still as strong as ever, and seeing Alexander in his embrace, no matter what, she felt reassured.
At the very least, she thought he was a man who could give her a sense of security.
Sophie stood aside, holding a small toy to play with the child as usual. Seeing the familiar toy, Alexander couldn’t help but grin, letting out a series of babbling noises.
Seeing his happy expression, Asher Land’s lips naturally curled into a smile.
In summary, this was a scene of a happy family of three.
It was also a scene Sophie longed for early on.
Asher Land seemed addicted to holding the child, unwilling to let go for a moment. Sophie remembered that when the child was just born, he treated him like a hot potato.
After a long while, the child seemed tired, reluctantly closing his eyes and falling asleep again.
Asher Land placed Alexander back into the crib, bending over to gaze at him longingly.
"Alright, he’s asleep. Let’s go out for now; after all, you can see him again tomorrow." Sophie rarely saw this side of Asher Land.
Asher straightened up, walked over to her, and pulled her into his arms.
"You...what’s wrong?"
"Nothing, I just held the child, now I want to hold my woman well." Although there was a slight smile on his lips, his eyes were filled with melancholy and loss, thankfully she couldn’t see it.
