Sophie Smith didn’t understand why Irene Morton always managed to put on such a good act in front of her, no, in front of Asher Land.
She clearly hated her, yet every time she was in front of Asher, she put on a facade of being great friends with her. Sometimes, looking at Irene’s sweet smile, listening to her affectionate words, Sophie had a momentary illusion that Irene was still the same girl she was when they first met.
"Alright, you try it on, and I’ll take a look," she replied to Irene with a smile.
The relationship among the three of them was indeed strange now, but deep down, they all understood what the current situation was.
Everyone was pretending, it was just about who was the better actor.
"Alright then, Brother Asher, Sister Sophie, wait for me a moment while I go change," said Irene gracefully as she walked towards the fitting room.
Sophie stood facing him, not knowing why she suddenly felt a bit awkward at that moment.
He was there to accompany Irene to try on the outfit they would wear for their engagement party. Now that she was there, did it make her redundant?
"What are you thinking about?" Seeing her so lost in thought, he couldn’t help but pull her back to reality by stepping closer to her.
He glanced sideways at the large shopping bags Amanda was holding and frowned involuntarily.
Because Nolan Davis paid for it, so he found it annoying.
His woman shouldn’t have to rely on Nolan’s money.
"The clothes you bought today, I don’t want to see them on you."
"Hmm?" Sophie didn’t understand why he suddenly brought this up.
"Choose what you like later and buy it, use my card," he said, taking a card out from his wallet and handing it to her.
"Asher Land, why are you acting so strange?" Sophie was truly puzzled by the man’s mystifying thoughts.
"Didn’t you understand what I said?" He lowered his head, his thin lips close to her ear, releasing an ambiguous breath.
Sophie shook her head and pushed him away.
She placed the card back into his hand.
"I’ve already bought what I wanted, so there’s no need to spend your money."
This was indeed true. In the morning, Amanda accompanied her to several places, and they bought a lot of stuff, as per Nolan’s instructions.
"Not spending my money? Whose money then?" he sneered coldly. Seeing his expression, Sophie knew he was getting angry again, but she couldn’t understand what she had done wrong to upset him.
She shook her head helplessly and took the card back.
"Don’t worry, I’ll max it out for sure."
"That’s more like it." He smirked smugly.
His eyes swept over the rows of exquisite and luxurious dresses in the wardrobe.
"Bring that one over," he said to a nearby store assistant.
"Yes, sir," the assistant replied, quickly fetching the dress as he had instructed. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"Go try it on."
"Me?" Sophie was a bit shocked. "Why on earth are you suddenly asking me to try it on?"
She hadn’t planned on buying a dress.
"If I ask you to try it, just do it. Why are you talking so much?"
Seeing his impatient look, she also grew a little upset. Why should she listen to him, especially when his attitude wasn’t the best?
"Asher Land, you wouldn’t want me to wear this dress to your engagement banquet, would you?"
She didn’t even know why she blurted out those words so randomly.
