No Trespassing! My Aloof Brother-Chapter 410 - 408 You Overthought It [3rd Update]
"Aunt, Henry Reid’s house is over there, did you go the wrong way?" Noah Owen looked at Madam Reid, who was smiling brightly, thinking she had taken the wrong door while delivering food to Henry Reid.
"I didn’t come for that brat. I came specifically to see you. Come, let’s talk inside. I got up early before dawn to make chicken soup for you to nourish yourself, drink it while it’s hot." Madam Reid, acting as if she owned the place, pulled the bewildered Noah Owen into the house.
Only then did Noah Owen realize that Madam Reid was here because of the news, visiting her grandson!
For a moment, Noah Owen found it quite ridiculous and absurd. She had only spent a few nights with Henry Reid and unintentionally became pregnant. How did it seem like she was already the daughter-in-law of the Reid Family?
Feeling helpless and unwilling to accept Madam Reid’s kindness, she hurriedly explained, "Aunt, I think there might be some misunderstanding. I’m not pregnant, let alone with Henry Reid’s child."
"Noah, I know you’re embarrassed. In fact, there are many who have children before marriage nowadays; it’s no big deal. Don’t worry, our Henry is definitely responsible. He will marry you and take care of everything, so all you need to do is eat well, sleep well, and enjoy yourself, okay?"
"Mom, what are you doing here?" Henry Reid was startled by Madam Reid’s sudden visit.
Seeing Henry Reid in the house, Madam Reid got furious. She immediately turned around, raised her right hand, and smacked him as she said, "You’re here, why didn’t you say anything? You scared me to death! You’re dating Noah Owen, why didn’t you tell us earlier? Why didn’t you bring her home sooner? You’re so inconsiderate. If it weren’t for your cousin telling us, we’d still be in the dark."
"Your dad and I have discussed it. The sooner the wedding, the better. Preferably next Saturday, before Jane Spencer."
In the living room, Noah Owen listened to the old lady’s self-righteous decisions, her eyes widened in disbelief, on the verge of tears. Did it really mean she had no say or opinion, and everything was arranged just like that? She almost suffocated with frustration.
So, she took a deep breath, raised her right hand, and patted Madam Reid’s shoulder to remind her, "Old lady, you’re overthinking this."
Madam Reid was taken aback when Noah called her "old lady," and quickly turned around, frowning tightly as she stared at Noah and asked, "What did you call me?"
Seeing she finally got her attention, Noah said seriously, "Old lady, let me remind you, Henry Reid and I are not in a romantic relationship. We simply have a physical relationship, and I don’t plan to keep this child, do you understand?"
Afraid that Madam Reid might indulge in flights of fancy, Noah didn’t hold back, honestly sharing her true feelings.
"What?" Madam Reid looked at Noah’s unfeeling manner, her face turning pale with anger.
She had never liked Noah Owen much, thinking a romance with Henry Reid would tone her down. But from the looks of it, her hopes of having a grandchild were dashed, and she glared at her with aggravation.
Watching Madam Reid’s furious, pale face, Noah Owen calmly reiterated, "I won’t marry Henry Reid, nor will I have a child for the Reid Family, is that clear?"
"The child isn’t just yours; what gives you the right to say you won’t have it?" Madam Reid protested.
"Enough, Noah, what nonsense are you telling my mom—go have your breakfast." Seeing the situation, Henry tried to signal Noah to stop causing a scene.
He then leaned closer to Madam Reid and whispered, "Mom, I left her alone at home last night to wash dishes while I was at the bar. She’s upset, just acting out. You can go back; I’ll handle this."
Henry, worried that Madam Reid would fall ill if she stayed, tried to send her away.
"Henry, that was wrong. She’s pregnant, and you left her alone to do housework! Just move back home, where someone can take care of you."
"Alright, alright! You go back first; let me pacify the wife."
Beside him, Noah watched Henry soothing the old lady, clenching her teeth in anger but staying silent.
As Henry was about to see Madam Reid off, Charlotte Owen walked in with a dark face.
"In-law, you’re here too!" Madam Reid greeted Charlotte as if they were family.
Charlotte’s expression turned even sourer upon being addressed as such by Madam Reid. She sidestepped her and entered the house, nonchalantly saying, "Stop recognizing random relatives."
"Mom!" Noah’s aura diminished as she saw Charlotte, much like a mouse spotting a cat.
At the doorway, Madam Reid, angered by the mother and daughter’s attitude, exclaimed disdainfully, "What kind of people are they, are they sick?"
"Who’s sick?" Charlotte’s mood was already foul after learning about Noah’s situation, and Madam Reid’s comment only made it worse.
Henry intervened between the two to prevent escalating tensions, as things were already chaotic due to Asher Norton’s involvement.
Fearing further rifts, he managed to send Madam Reid away, then returned to the living room with a forced smile, greeting, "Aunt Charlotte."
Seeing Henry’s guilty smile, Charlotte impatiently threw her bag onto the sofa and asked, "What’s going on here?"
"Nothing much, my mom just brought some chicken soup over for Noah," Henry deflected.
"Noah, get over here." Charlotte, too tired to spar verbally with Henry, angrily called Noah to her side. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Noticing Charlotte’s fiery demeanor, Noah cautiously approached her, explaining, "Mom, it was just an accident, and I’ll have the child removed."
Charlotte was quite surprised at Noah’s pregnancy. Noah never liked being close to men, yet Henry managed to get near her, earning him some grudging respect.
"Have you both discussed this?" She didn’t pressure Noah to immediately terminate the pregnancy.
"No, but I’m willing to take responsibility and marry Noah." Henry sensed that Charlotte didn’t want Noah to terminate the pregnancy and took the opportunity to voice his intentions.
Seeing Henry somewhat responsible, Charlotte glanced at the food boxes and takeaway breakfast on the dining table, forming some thoughts in her mind.
She figured Noah must have some feelings for Henry; otherwise, she wouldn’t have let him get close. Also, it wouldn’t be by mere chance that she got pregnant after just one encounter. So, she concluded that Noah didn’t dislike Henry and was fairly satisfied with Henry’s earlier show of responsibility.
Her anger significantly diminished, she calmly said, "It seems you both need to sit down and have a good talk. Once you’ve done so, Noah, come back home to find me."
With that, Charlotte grabbed her bag and left, mentally acknowledging Henry as her son-in-law.
