No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1909: Hayes Edwards Extra (66)
In a small voice, "Hayes Edwards."
Called once, no response.
After a while, she tried calling again, "Hayes Edwards."
Hayes turned over, covered his ears with a pillow, his voice full of morning grumpiness, "Grace Winter, if you keep bothering me, I’m going to hit you!"
Grace Winter wasn’t scared of his threat at all, "Didn’t you say you were going to play basketball downstairs with the guys today?"
This was arranged before the holiday.
Hayes still didn’t open his eyes, "I’m going at noon, it’s only morning."
"Alright then." Grace nodded, looked at the still-sleeping Hayes, and ran off to play with her toys.
It felt like only a few seconds passed, but it had actually been half an hour. Hayes was shaken awake from his slumber, Grace standing beside him with tear-reddened eyes, "Hayes Edwards, my hair, my hair got tangled..."
Only then did Hayes notice a small car model part tangled in the ends of Grace’s hair, looking like it might be a steering wheel or something.
She probably tried to untangle it herself, only to make it worse, and finally panicked.
Hayes turned over and sat up, annoyed by her crying, "Fine, stop crying, let me see."
He hooked a small stool over with his foot for her to sit down.
Grace didn’t dare move, just kept staring at the buttons on Hayes’ shirt, clutching his hem tightly, her nose red like a rabbit’s, "Hayes Edwards, am I going to lose my hair?"
Hayes tried to untangle the hair, only making it worse, getting more frustrated, but still coldly comforted her, "No."
"Really?"
"Really."
Grace finally managed to stop crying.
Three minutes later, more hair was tangled, and Hayes sat on the sofa, looking gloomy.
Grace thought Hayes was annoyed with her, and though worried about her hair, softly said, "Maybe I should do it myself."
As soon as she finished speaking, Hayes snapped at her, "You do it, if you could, you wouldn’t have tangled your hair with the toy in the first place."
Grace felt wronged, wiping her tears with her hand, "I didn’t do it on purpose."
She was just a little sleepy while playing earlier, so she laid down on the mat to nap, and who knew she’d wake up like this.
Today was a workday, and the adults from both families weren’t home.
"No crying!" Hayes said fiercely, "If you cry again, I’ll cut all your hair off!"
Grace indeed stopped crying, staring blankly at Hayes.
Just as he felt smug for silencing her, Grace suddenly burst into tears again, crying her heart out, tears streaming like money didn’t matter.
Crying while saying, "Don’t cut my hair, I’ll be good."
Hayes: "..."
Wanted to swear but it wasn’t appropriate.
Grace was still crying, covering her clothes and pants in tears, and Hayes wasn’t spared either.
His face was full of despair, "Stop crying, I’ll buy you cake."
Grace continued crying.
Hayes raised the stakes, "Ice cream."
The crying lessened a little.
Gritting his teeth, Hayes continued, "And a bag of spicy sticks."
Grace looked up at him, with teary yet hungry eyes, her voice still sobbing, "Are you serious?"
Hayes nodded expressionlessly.
What kind of sin had he committed to end up with this troublesome, silly, and crybaby sidekick.
Hayes sat on the sofa seriously untangling Grace’s hair, while Grace sat on the small stool eating snacks.
