No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1808: Daily Life After Marriage (36)
The makeshift stall wasn’t particularly large, but the variety of fireworks was impressive. Along the edges were long strings of firecrackers.
Lighting them up required a certain amount of courage.
Hannah immediately spotted her favorite sparklers, their packaging looking almost the same as before.
After parking the car, Arnold Simmons joined her in picking out fireworks, holding a plastic basket given by the owner.
"Arnold, do you think this one is better, or this one?"
She turned around holding two different boxes of fireworks. The one in her left hand shot up into the sky, while the one in her right spun around on the ground.
Both were the types most popular with kids every year.
If it were the old Arnold, he definitely wouldn’t understand any of this. But with Hannah by his side, the empty, dark world he used to live in had gradually been filled with color.
"Let’s get both."
Just one wouldn’t be enough for her to play with alone, especially since they were celebrating New Year together with everyone this year.
Hannah looked around, then nodded with a smile, "Alright, let’s get both."
Both boxes of fireworks were placed in the plastic basket.
It started with just two, but then slowly became three, four, five—more and more piled up until the basket was almost too full to hold everything. Only then did Hannah stop.
"That’s enough. Boss, please calculate the total price."
"Got it!"
The basket was quite heavy, filled to the brim with all sorts of fireworks.
The owner pulled out some newspaper from the side and poured the fireworks into an even larger basket to tally up the price.
Near the fireworks stand, there were stalls selling Spring Festival couplets and lanterns. After they were done here, Hannah dragged Arnold over there to pick some out.
The morning gradually became livelier, and Arnold was now carrying bags in both hands.
Hannah was also holding a bag in her arms. The bag was already quite large, but one corner of a "Fu" character decoration still peeked out, along with the tassels of a lantern. The fiery red color complemented her delicate face strangely well.
The contrast made her complexion look even fairer, her eyes brighter, and in the sunlight, her features were bathed in a warm, glowing light. Soft and warm, her curved eyes glimmered with charm when she smiled. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"Arnold, what else do we need to buy?"
Nearby was a food market, bustling as it always was before the New Year. Even from across the street, the shouts of bargaining vendors could be heard.
"We’ve bought fireworks, Spring Festival couplets, and lanterns." Arnold shifted all the bags to one hand, freeing the other. "Give me the bag, I’ll carry it."
Hannah pulled her gaze away from the food market and rested it on Arnold.
She was quite tall, yet she still had to look up slightly to meet Arnold’s eyes.
"I can carry it myself." She tightened her arms around the bag, the plastic rustling as she moved. Inside was a rabbit-shaped lantern she had picked out. "I want to carry it myself."
If she said she wanted to, Arnold would always listen.
"Then give me your hand."
They were about to cross the street.
The plastic bag was tied securely, so Hannah didn’t have to worry about anything falling out. This freed up one of her hands, which she placed into Arnold’s palm.
His hand gently closed around hers, completely enclosing it.
While waiting for the traffic light, Hannah suddenly thought of something. "Arnold, should we go buy groceries?"
Neither the former movie queen Hannah nor the former domineering boss Arnold had gone grocery shopping in a very long time.
Because their villa was far from the market, fresh fruits and vegetables were always ordered in advance and delivered straight to their home.
But Hannah suddenly felt like personally going grocery shopping.
Just like how they had bought the fireworks and Spring Festival couplets today.
