No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1796: Daily Life After Marriage (24)
Instead, Lucy Taylor posted a video using her own account.
The video wasn’t long, not even a minute.
It was a clip of Hannah singing at a gathering that evening.
A year had passed, and being able to hear Hannah sing again excited both fans and casual viewers alike.
No one paid attention to the original trending topic anymore. Payne Johnson’s manager was infuriated and was planning to stir up controversy again when a phone call came through. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
A brief conversation left the manager drenched in cold sweat; all he could do was repeatedly agree and promise that it wouldn’t happen again.
...
While online discussions were in full swing, Hannah went on a movie date with Arnold Simmons.
The movie starred John Lynch, and as his employer, since she happened to have time, of course she had to show her support.
The cinema was lively in the evening, and because it was a romance film, most of the audience were couples.
Hannah chose seats at the back, with empty spaces on both sides. In front of them sat just one pair—a young couple who looked like students, still caught up in the throes of passionate love.
Ah, youthful days—awkward yet beautiful.
The movie itself had a school romance setting, with the male and female leads walking side by side under the shade of trees, a canopy of green shielding them from the glaring sunlight.
The theater was dimly lit, and as the movie began, even the soft whispers in the audience came to a halt.
Hannah watched attentively, occasionally letting out soft chuckles along with everyone else at the funny parts.
Arnold, however, wasn’t as focused. He was more engrossed in feeding Hannah popcorn.
One kernel after another.
Hannah covered her mouth, mumbling, "I can’t eat anymore."
He retracted his hand regretfully. "Really, no more?"
She puffed out her cheeks, crunching on the popcorn in her mouth, and stretched out a hand to turn Arnold’s head towards the screen, reminding him, "Watch the movie. Stop looking at me all the time."
Arnold chuckled under his breath. Just as he turned back, he noticed Hannah’s gaze shift away again. "Alright, I’ll watch the movie."
Only then did Hannah nod in satisfaction.
The movie was indeed well-made, and John Lynch’s acting had improved significantly since his early days.
Watching it filled her with a small sense of pride—after all, she had been the one to pick him.
The boy who had once been bullied and made fun of in the team had now become a capable and accomplished actor.
Capturing the innocence and confusion of youth has always been challenging—those cautious explorations of love, the tentative glances that can make hearts race and faces flush.
Otherwise, how could there still be people reminiscing about *The Kite* even today?
As the film wrapped up, the couple onscreen embraced. Even though they still carried the burning passion from those earlier days, they said goodbye anyway.
When the credits rolled, many people in the theater were moved to tears.
The girl in the student couple was crying the hardest.
In between sobs, she kept asking her boyfriend if they, too, would end up like the movie’s protagonists—clearly in love, yet forced to part.
Not because of external forces, but because of themselves.
The boy was utterly at a loss, barely knowing how to console her, his voice trembling as he tried.
In the end, the girl gave him a gentle shove, wiped her tears, and got up to leave.
The boy scrambled to chase after her.
Hannah watched this, as if recalling something, and couldn’t help but curl her lips into a smile.
They remained seated in the shadows, waiting for the others to leave.
Arnold turned to look at her and asked, "What are you smiling about?"
Hannah looked into his eyes, her lips curving, her gaze soft with laughter.
