No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1699 Arnold Simmons Extra (65)
Sometimes, the quietness allows one to hear the loud voices coming from the bungalow next door.
Arnold Simmons picked up the phone on his desk and saw the message that had popped up on the screen.
He turned his head and saw the corner of a notebook peeking out from his backpack.
After thinking for a bit, he replied with, "Haven’t looked at it yet."
Hannah was lying on her bed resting, as their teacher had told them to, instructing them to take the day off, recharge, and not to study any problems.
So the moment she received Arnold’s message, she responded with, "Then hurry up and take a look."
Even through the screen, her tone felt excited.
Arnold took out the notebook and placed it on his desk, and turned on the not-so-bright desk lamp. "What’s written inside?"
"Just notes," replied Hannah quickly.
Arnold tapped the cover of the notebook with his fingertips and smiled, "Are you sure there’s nothing like a confession written inside?"
The message was sent, and there was a long silence from the other side, with no immediate reply.
It was as if her little secret had been poked through.
As he waited, Arnold even lightened his breathing. He didn’t know what expression Hannah wore on her face, but he could clearly hear his own heartbeat.
Thump after thump, like the beat of a drum, rapid and strong.
Unable to wait for a reply, he simply turned off his phone and started doing his homework.
But his heart just wouldn’t settle down; he could hardly write a few words without glancing at the phone lying beside him.
He forced himself to calm down and dove into his studies.
The next second, a message finally came from the other side.
"A confession? Confess to whom?"
"..."
He replied with, "No one."
The simple two words made Hannah imagine Arnold’s expression at the moment; she couldn’t help but laugh out loud, rolling around on her bed with her phone, "Arnold, are you doing your homework tonight?"
He still said: "No."
Hannah circled back to the previous topic, "Just take a look at the notebook."
Arnold sighed and flipped through the notebook at the corner of his desk. Right in the center of the first page, it read "Hannah."
Turning the pages revealed neat and tidy notes.
It was clear that the owner of the notes put a lot of effort into it, jotting down all the important points, and even annotating examples at the side with detailed steps for solving problems.
It was obviously catered to help him, who was relatively weaker in chemistry.
"Do you see it?" Hannah sent another message.
At this moment, it’s hard to describe the exact feeling; the autumn breeze outside the window was freezing, yet his palms were burning hot.
"Your notes?"
Hannah sat up from her bed, "Yeah, lent them to you. You should study hard and aim higher each day."
Arnold chuckled, "Got it."
...
At the end of the year, after going through the semi-finals and the finals, Hannah once again successfully won the first prize in the chemistry competition, being the top contestant. Along with the top fifty students from other provinces, she also obtained the qualification for a direct admission.
When the news spread back to school, banners were put up at the school gates that very noon.
"The transfer student is awesome. How long has she been at No. 1 High School? Not even a semester, right?"
"No. 1 High School has found a treasure this time."
"Is the transfer student named Hannah? I heard she’s also beautiful; isn’t she just like the heroine of a novel?" 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
By noon, when school was over, a crowd of students had gathered at the school gate, with even students from nearby schools coming over to join the buzz, eager to see the true face of this top contestant.
Jimmy Simmons was also among the crowd, but he was somewhat different from the others.
