No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1672: Arnold Simmons Side Story (38)
The entire road was lined with various clubs recruiting new members.
But now it was not as bustling as before.
Upon reaching the school gate, Hannah waved her hand, "See you on Monday, Tessa."
Tessa waved back, then started jogging to catch the bus.
Hannah walked towards the neighborhood with her backpack, passing students along the way, mostly from her senior year, or the opposite elementary school.
The vocational school didn’t have classes on Friday afternoons, so the school was already empty at this time.
At five in the afternoon, the sun was still a bit glaring, as if the dry heat of noon was all pressed onto the ground, now rising into the air like boiling water.
Hannah walked alone, looked down at her phone, and thought of the dozen or so test papers that were mostly in her backpack. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
She had forgotten to ask him for his contact information yesterday.
Did she really have to go to his house to find him?
Hannah remembered hearing in class that Arnold lived in the northern district of the city.
The area of the northern district was vast, almost twice the size of the two central districts, with half of it being partly demolished buildings and the other smaller half being dense old campuses and bungalows.
The railway tracks run right next to the residential area.
Without exaggeration, one could see the speeding trains just by opening the window, with a distance of less than fifty meters.
The northern district was notoriously dirty, chaotic, and full of a mixed bag of people.
Not to mention finding someone, it was already quite difficult to walk out from there unscathed without losing a penny.
As Hannah passed by Willow Lane, she stopped and glanced inside.
The alleyways of Willow Lane were narrow and winding, with turns every few meters, easy for anyone who wasn’t a regular to get lost.
For this reason, the students from the two vocational schools loved to arrange fights here, as it was easy to escape even if discovered by teachers.
Hannah’s last visit here was no coincidence.
Knowing that Arnold was there, she went to find him and then led him away.
One less instance of such events was better.
However, Arnold wasn’t in Willow Lane today, and she had no idea where he had gone.
She always told herself that this was the young Arnold, and to him she was still a stranger, so she needed to be patient.
Be patient in approaching him, just like before...
No, it wasn’t the same.
Hannah kicked away a stone at her feet, feeling rather down.
At this moment, a dark cloud floated over, conveniently blocking the glaring sunshine overhead, and the light immediately dimmed.
The wind started blowing.
It looked like it was going to rain.
Passersby paused to look up, then hurried off.
Hannah zipped her school uniform up higher and quickened her pace.
It was only a ten-minute walk from the school to the neighborhood where she lived.
Halfway there, she noticed someone following her.
With the street crowded, that person thought he hid himself well, appearing somewhat not too bright.
Without looking back, Hannah did not head towards her neighborhood, but instead turned a corner and stood next to a flower bed.
The flower bed was filled with dense oleanders that completely concealed her figure.
The person approached.
From Hannah’s angle, she could see his pair of sneakers, which looked expensive and brand new.
She had a rough guess who it might be.
Jimmy Simmons stood still, glanced across the street, was about to walk over when he saw the traffic light turn green, and then halted.
Not particularly foolish.
The dark clouds in the sky didn’t disperse, but the light brightened a bit. The big wind blew, causing the oleander branches and leaves to sway back and forth.
