Chapter 1580: Chapter 1580: Making Concessions

Then he got her coat and said, "It’s just me going tomorrow, you don’t need to go."

He placed the coat on Hannah’s lap.

Hannah lifted her arm, which was in a cast, "I’m injured, how am I supposed to wear a coat?"

Her round eyes gazed in the night, lacking the spirited charm of daytime, appearing only soft and obedient, yet somewhat capricious.

This was the second compromise Wayne Lane made today, "Then lift your arm, and I’ll help you put it on."

"It might stretch the wound." Hannah was deliberately being contrary with Wayne Lane.

Perhaps it was fate that they would be enemies.

As youths, they bickered and opposed each other, and as they grew up, it escalated to a matter of life and death.

After all, they’re just not meant to stay together forever.

Wayne Lane fell silent for a while, then stepped back, "Then just drape it over."

He covered her with the coat, then withdrew his hand, intending not to concern himself further.

"But draped over, it will fall off." The coat was a bit large, just lightly resting on Hannah’s shoulders, and as soon as her words ended, it slid down to her chest.

Hannah had a told-you-so look, "See, I told you it would fall off."

Wayne Lane pursed his lips, there were others resting in the vehicle so he kept his voice low, "Hannah, you’re really annoying."

Despite his words, his hands dutifully picked up the coat again.

"Lift your arm."

Hannah didn’t react.

Wayne Lane sighed, "Lift your arm, let me help you with your coat."

Compromising once begets further compromises.

Hannah quite liked Wayne Lane’s concessions, at least more than when she first met him.

Arrogant and trying to act cool, his expression cold, it was as if "The Greatest Under Heaven" was written on his face.

That’s why she wanted this praised prodigy to suffer a little.

She admitted that she did harbor some mischievous intentions back then, but indeed, she didn’t have much regard for the royals.

But now...

Hannah cooperatively turned around and raised her arm.

Wayne Lane helped her on with her coat, then put her hat back on and pressed it down deftly, "Childish."

He muttered softly, not loud enough to be heard.

But Hannah could read his lips.

She hummed and didn’t squabble with him.

"My dear, you and your brother seem to have a great relationship," a woman sitting at the back suddenly commented.

Hannah turned to glance at her, saw the woman’s gentle eyes smiling at her.

She felt a bit awkward, looked at Wayne Lane, then replied, "It’s not that great."

The woman just smiled tenderly as if reminiscing about something, "If those things hadn’t happened back then, my daughter would have been about your age now."

Nostalgia lingered in the woman’s voice, an ages-long yearning. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Hannah leaned on the back of the chair, gazing at her with rare curiosity, "Are you also someone from the Empire?"

"Me?" The woman shook her head, "No."

Just when Hannah wanted to ask more, the hat on her head was tugged by Wayne Lane.

"You talk too much, aren’t you tired?"

Hannah turned to look at him, "If I fall asleep, will you carry me off the bus later?"

Wayne Lane paused, at a loss for words, and only managed to apologize to the woman sitting behind them.

After all, Hannah was indeed quite lively tonight, for reasons unknown.

But the woman didn’t mind.

She actually liked Hannah quite a bit.

The vehicle bypassed several of the most secluded streets in Bruce, heading towards the city center, and finally stopped in front of a pretty decent hotel.

From today, they could all stay there for free for a week.
