No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 133: Behave Yourself
It’s like knocking over a stray cat’s supper on the side of the road; it’s hunched over, ready to pounce and claw till you’re scarred all over.
The atmosphere was a bit odd, prompting May Hoffman to hurriedly smile and attempt to smooth things over. "Hannah, we’re all living in the same dorm. Can I apologize on behalf of Jenny? Don’t be too caught up with this. It’s just..." It was just a pot of cactus after all.
Hannah cut her off with a deep gaze. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Hannah stood up, looking at the people in front of her, and spoke. "Are you her mother? Apologizing on her behalf?"
She always had a way of bringing irony out of airy words.
May Hoffman looked embarrassed, her gaze drifting off as if she thought of something unpleasant.
Gilly was observing everything from the sidelines, deciding to quietly sneak out onto the balcony when she saw Hannah get up. She didn’t want any trouble.
Jenny King seemed uncomfortable under Hannah’s malicious gaze. Annoyance crept into her voice, "It’s just a pot of flowers. I can buy you a hundred more tomorrow to make up for it. It’s not a big deal."
She muttered the last sentence almost under her breath.
Ever since the incident at the forum, she didn’t want any more involvement with someone like Hannah. She didn’t even dare to think about retaliating, especially seeing what happened to Ethan Evans. It was a warning to her.
Hannah looked down, silently studying the injured cactus in her palm. She gently sighed, "Even if you buy ten thousand pots, they would only be mundane things. They’re no match for my cactus."
She rose to leave after speaking.
Upon hearing this, Jenny felt even more uncomfortable, feeling that Hannah was mocking her openly and subtly.
She had never met anyone as ridiculous as Hannah Winter. Holding a pot of flowers every day as if it were a precious treasure, and now almost the whole school knew their dormitory had a "crazy person".
Every time she went out, people would inquire, and there were even boys who liked Hannah Winter, who asked Jenny to help them give gifts.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She reached out to stop Hannah Winter, wanting to ask for clarity, but Hannah grabbed her hand before it could touch her and then pinned it against the wall.
The cold feeling from the wall combined with the blatant malice shown in the pitch-black eyes in front of her sent chills down Jenny’s spine.
Hannah, holding the pot in one hand, gazed at the person in front of her with sparkling eyes. Her voice was light, carrying a nearly imperceptible softness. She said: "Stay put. Don’t make a move, okay?"
As she spoke, her lips, as delicate as flower petals, gently curled into a smile. Her eyes crinkled as well, but they contained a stark warning.
Jenny found herself nodding almost involuntarily.
Only then did Hannah release her. Just then, her cell phone rang. The cheerful ringtone broke the tense atmosphere from just a moment ago.
When she saw the caller ID on the screen, her demeanor changed from the earlier grimness and displeasure to pure joy. "Mr. Simmons, you’re looking for me?"
She spoke and joyfully ran out to the balcony and fell onto her bed. Her voice was soft and smooth as if she was being playful. It was a stark contrast to her previous demeanor.
Jenny, covering her wrist that Hannah had grabbed, watched her retreating figure with an awkward expression on her face, still holding a bit of grudge.
May had no choice but to comfort her, "Forget it. We can’t beat her."
"I just can’t admit defeat." Jenny King lowered her voice, "Why is she so damn lucky? How is it that she’s born with such a beautiful face and there’s always someone willing to help her? May, do you know that Hannah Winter is going to participate in Shining Star Journey 2, she’s going on a TV show, do you know that?"
