Nine Nether Dragon Emperor-Chapter 117: Since I was born, who dares to speak of being invincible?
Ning Xuan didn’t even hear what Wu Pianpian said before he saw her move. The long staff in her hands suddenly split apart, transforming into a long spear.
Ning Xuan blinked, utterly incredulous.
Xing Zhao hadn’t been able to dodge the spear! By the time he could even think to react, the tip of Wu Pianpian’s weapon was already at his throat.
The corner of Ning Xuan’s mouth twitched. Xing Zhao’s Cultivation was at least at the Fourth Layer Heavens of the King Realm! More importantly, his strength absolutely surpassed the so-called King Realm experts Ning Xuan had previously encountered. Yet, he was no match for a single thrust of Wu Pianpian’s spear.
"Senior Sister, why don’t you just stay here? I need to find a place to cultivate." Ning Xuan was under immense pressure.
"You promised the old man you’d take care of me," the child said, blinking. "Wherever you go, I go."
Little White, nestled in her arms, also yipped in agreement.
"Alright, let’s go." Ning Xuan nodded, choosing to leave immediately.
As for bidding farewell to Wu Pianpian, he decided against it. She wasn’t one for superficial courtesies and certainly detested all unnecessary formalities.
I need to improve my strength first. Everything else can wait.
Having snuck out the back door before, Ning Xuan found it a breeze this time. He wasn’t foolhardy enough to swagger through the streets, especially not when the Martial God Temple and Star Moon Pavilion were led by their respective Sub-Hall Master and Pavilion Master.
I have to show them some respect. I can’t bully them too much, right?
After he and the child disguised themselves, the two, along with Little White, successfully left the city.
After some thought, Ning Xuan decided to continue his cultivation at the place where he had discovered the Eighth Grade Element Vein.
The most dangerous place is the safest place!
But upon arriving, Ning Xuan realized he had been wrong this time. The two great powers hated him to the bone, and they had posted guards at every place he had ever appeared.
"Stop right there!"
He was targeted the moment he showed himself.
"Sorry, wrong way," Ning Xuan apologized as he began to retreat.
"You’re Ning Xuan!"
WHOOSH!
A light flashed in Ning Xuan’s eyes. His sword glinted, sealing the man’s throat in a single strike. The man failed to release the hidden weapon concealed in his sleeve. It wasn’t that he had confirmed Ning Xuan’s identity, but that his orders from above were strict—it was better to be wrong a thousand times than to let him slip away.
The sharp whistle of weapons piercing the air erupted from several directions, hurtling toward him at lightning speed.
BANG!
At the same time, a flare shot into the air and exploded high above.
Ning Xuan’s expression darkened as his figure flickered rapidly, dodging the attacks. A few moments later, after finishing off his enemies, Ning Xuan stood gasping for breath.
Although only two of the guards were King Realm Martial Artists—the rest in the Heavenly Realm—their strength was still considerably greater than that of those he had encountered before.
"As expected of disciples trained by top-tier powers. Impressive!"
As Ning Xuan sighed with admiration, he led the child to the mountain’s peak. He then sat cross-legged to cultivate by absorbing the energy of the Element Crystals. Now that he had the Heavenly Crystal, he could absorb the Element Crystals he’d gathered previously without any reservations.
After stepping into the Human Realm, both Ning Xuan’s Divine Veins and the True Blood within his dantian had undergone even more astonishing changes. His Divine Veins grew thicker, and the True Blood in his dantian transformed into a golden sun that radiated a terrifying divine might.
Deciding to lie in wait for his pursuers, Ning Xuan held nothing back. He activated his voracious Divine Veins and the Chaos Ancestral Dragon Scripture, consuming ten billion Element Crystals at a terrifying rate.
Soon, Ning Xuan advanced by a minor realm, his Cultivation reaching the Sixth Layer Heavens of the Human Realm. In the process, he completely consumed all his Element Crystals.
"Someone’s coming!" the child’s voice rang out just in time.
Ning Xuan’s eyes opened, flaring with a golden gleam. He then rose to his full height, standing atop the mountain peak and looking down on the figures below.
Xing Zhao and Yan Linghua raised their heads to look at Ning Xuan, their expressions complex. They had never imagined that in such a short time, their roles as hunter and hunted would be reversed. Nor had they anticipated that Ning Xuan wouldn’t flee, but would instead stand here waiting for them. What they also didn’t expect was his incredible rate of improvement. With their abilities, they could naturally tell that Ning Xuan’s Cultivation Realm had advanced yet again.
Despite being mortal enemies, even they had to admit that Ning Xuan was a heaven-defying talent. With the Human Emperor as such a brilliant precedent, they had developed a high tolerance for the cultivation speed of geniuses. But who could have known that this Ning Xuan would appear, with a cultivation speed that was even more terrifying than the Human Emperor’s!
"Ning Xuan, you have attacked two top-tier powers, and as many as a thousand Martial Artists have perished by your hand! This is a capital offense, but—" Xing Zhao began, taking a deep breath.
"No buts," Ning Xuan interrupted. "Make your move. One-on-one or all at once, I’ll take you on!"
"We are all true King Realm experts, yet you still dare to be so arrogant. You really have a death wish!" Yan Linghua stepped forward, killing intent swirling in her eyes. "Didn’t you say you have a Protector? Let her show herself!"
"I was just fooling you. I come from a small place, so why would any Protector take a liking to me? Pavilion Master, why don’t you go first?" Ning Xuan smiled, directly challenging Yan Linghua.
The more brazen he acted, the more vigilant Yan Linghua became. She immediately looked toward one of the men she had brought with her. Ning Xuan recognized him; he had been standing on the mountain peak with her not long ago.
"I also wield a sword," the man said, stepping forward with a courteous smile. "Although my Sword Dao Realm is not as advanced as Ning Yang’s and yours, I would like to give it a try."
Ning Xuan nodded, his vigilance rising. The fact that this man addressed Ning Yang by name, rather than by his title of Human Emperor, showed he was an incredibly proud man. Such people were either fools or truly powerful. Clearly, this person was the latter.
Below, the man took a single step forward.
Ning Xuan’s eyes narrowed. With just that one step, his opponent seemed to merge with heaven and earth. In an instant, Ning Xuan’s high-ground advantage vanished. Instead, his opponent gave off the terrifying sensation of a god looking down on all living things as if they were mere ants.
This is an aura! An invincible sword aura!
"One step, and your sword aura is formed. A brilliant technique!" Ning Xuan declared, his eyes now blazing with battle intent as his entire being grew excited.
"Let’s decide life and death with a single strike!" the man said with a smile.
"Good!" Ning Xuan replied without a trace of fear.
His opponent had merged with the world itself. A sword strike from him would carry the power of heaven and earth and would be absolutely terrifying. But the word ’fear’ was not in his dictionary.
If you want a fight, you’ll get one!
"Face my sword!" the man called out. Though his voice wasn’t loud, it boomed in Ning Xuan’s ears like the tolling of a great temple bell.
At that same time, darkness enveloped everything between heaven and earth. Ning Xuan could no longer see anything as endless solitude and nothingness swept over him.
His heart was as still as an ancient well, without a single ripple. Ning Xuan immediately closed his eyes.
At that moment, he "saw" an endlessly brilliant sword tear through the darkness, coming at him with a might that could cleave the heavens and split the earth. It was a sword that would make all things submit. A truly invincible blade.
"As long as I exist, who dares claim invincibility?" Ning Xuan murmured, his tightly shut eyes snapping open.
An unparalleled sword light seemed to erupt from his gaze, instantly cleaving the darkness and re-separating heaven and earth.
The vision shattered. The man was sent flying backward, coughing up blood in midair.
"Jian Yan!" Yan Linghua appeared by his side in an instant, catching him.
"I controlled heaven and earth... How could you be faster than me?" the Sword Cultivator known as Jian Yan demanded, blood pouring from his lips as he stared intently at Ning Xuan above.
"The heaven and earth within my heart are greater than yours," Ning Xuan declared, his gaze blazing and his voice resounding with conviction. "My belief in my own invincibility is unshakeable. Not even a true world itself can move it!"
Jian Yan let out a bitter laugh, finally understanding why he had lost.
"Youth is to be feared," he whispered, and then died with a smile on his lips.
Yan Linghua’s head snapped up. She looked every bit a demon as her voice rose to a piercing shriek. "Ning Xuan, I will see you dead!"
