Nine Nether Dragon Emperor-Chapter 112: Martial Sister, Can You Please Not Set Me Up?
SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!
Five streaks of sword light tore through the sky, effortlessly slicing through the void before carving up the ground as if it were tofu. Under the crisscrossing beams of light, the targeted area was instantly diced into sixteen pieces.
BOOM!
A colossal creature erupted from the ground, unleashing a tidal wave of earth that shattered ancient trees and giant boulders. Amid the terrifying quake, it vanished without a trace.
The Sword Cultivators were completely stunned, having never anticipated such a turn of events. By the time they reacted, the creature was long gone. Some wanted to give chase.
"Come out!" a Sword Cultivator demanded with palpable killing intent, his eyes fixed on the crater where the beast had emerged.
"Don’t attack, don’t attack! We’re coming out now!"
A young man and woman crawled out from the hole. The woman seemed utterly bewildered, while the man, his face streaked with dirt and grime, was still pale with fright. It was, of course, Ning Xuan and Wawa.
Ning Xuan’s face was filled with gratitude, as if he were seeing long-lost relatives. "Thank you all so much! If it weren’t for you, my sister and I would have definitely ended up as a meal for that Element Beast!"
The Sword Cultivators just stared at each other, still dumbfounded.
"Sirs, that Element Beast was terrifyingly strong! It even knew cultivation methods and radiated a horrifying blood qi. It didn’t even have to do anything, and my sister and I felt like our hearts were going to explode! Can you please help us hunt it down?" Ning Xuan pleaded, his expression a mixture of lingering fear and desperate hope.
I may not be human, but you’re a real dog! Little White fumed from a distance.
"Speaking of blood qi, I sensed it too!" one of the cultivators exclaimed. "That Element Beast has to be at least King Level! Who will join me in hunting it?"
"Count me in!"
"And me!"
"Let’s go together!"
In an instant, more than a dozen Sword Cultivators sped off in the direction Little White had fled.
A cultivator who had been silent the whole time suddenly spoke up. "There’s no one else down there."
"I’m curious, how did you two manage to avoid our Sword Qi just now?" another asked suspiciously, his eagle-sharp gaze sweeping over Ning Xuan and Wawa.
"Sword Qi? What Sword Qi?" Ning Xuan asked with an indignant expression. "We were just poor, weak, and helpless souls being crushed in that damned Element Beast’s grasp, nearly suffocating to death!"
One of the Sword Cultivators glanced at Ning Xuan’s grimy face and, mostly convinced, had to suppress a smirk.
"Miss, do you have a handkerchief?" a different cultivator asked Wawa. "Why don’t you wipe your brother’s face?"
"Alright!" Wawa smiled sweetly and nodded, immediately starting to wipe his face.
Ning Xuan, who had been frantically trying to signal her with his eyes, was floored. He discovered he was completely unable to break free from Wawa’s grip.
Damn it! You’re selling me out! I’m your brother, your own flesh and blood!
As his true features were revealed, someone in the crowd recognized him. "You’re... Ning Xuan!"
"Everyone, he’s the one who killed—"
PFFT!
Before the man could finish, a flash of Sword Qi pierced through his brow. Ning Xuan swept his blade in a wide arc, and a terrifying wave of energy sent several heads flying.
Wawa clapped and cheered from the side. "Go, Junior Brother, go!"
Junior Brother’s acting was so clumsy and dull before. Watching him kill like this is much more exciting! So damn cool!
"Kill him!"
PFFT!
The man’s words had barely faded before he was obliterated.
"Senior Sister, can you please stop setting me up!" Ning Xuan shouted, ducking another streak of sword light while still finding time to express his frustration with Wawa.
The remaining Sword Cultivators were seething with rage. Was this man treating them like they didn’t even exist?!
SWOOSH!
Another flash of light, and a few more heads tumbled to the ground. Now, the weaker cultivators didn’t dare to get any closer. This bastard’s swordsmanship and movement technique were simply too fast!
A few Sword Cultivators activated their Flying Sword Technique. However, Ning Xuan had been waiting for just that. Swords that weren’t theirs suddenly shot into the air.
"Watch out!"
The warning came too late. The two Sword Cultivation masters who had just launched their attack were instantly decapitated.
The remaining cultivators were horrified.
A rumbling sound echoed from within Ning Xuan’s body as he bit down on a Tianyang Domineering Fruit. Killing at this pace was incredibly draining.
"Quick! His Element Force is depleted—"
WHOOSH!
Before the man could finish, his forehead was pierced through.
Ning Xuan landed, eyeing the warriors scornfully. "Enough!"
At his low shout, everyone froze. This allowed Ning Xuan to finally breathe a sigh of relief. That continuous string of attacks had genuinely bottomed out his Element Force. If these Sword Cultivators had been any bolder, the consequences would have been dire. Thankfully, his display of power had been intimidating enough.
"I have no quarrel with you. Let’s part ways here. If anyone objects, feel free to try me. I will kill whoever steps forward!" Ning Xuan’s gaze was like lightning, his killing intent suffocating.
No one dared to move.
Wawa pouted, and then a glint appeared in her beautiful eyes. A pine needle shot out, skimming across the ground and piercing a man’s ankle.
"Ah—!"
As the man screamed and stumbled forward, a sword pierced through his brow.
PFFT!
Ning Xuan hadn’t moved from his spot; it seemed he hadn’t been the one to strike.
Now, any Sword Cultivators who had been considering an attack completely lost their nerve. The man standing next to the victim saw the blood gushing from his ankle, and his mouth twitched violently.
That bastard did it on purpose!
An unbidden fear rose in his heart, along with the urge to flee. Yet he didn’t dare move a muscle, afraid that any action would be misinterpreted, getting him killed.
"Does anyone wish to leave?" Ning Xuan asked, his gaze sweeping over them.
No one answered.
"Don’t worry, I’m a reasonable person," Ning Xuan said with a completely harmless smile. "As long as you leave your Storage Rings, I won’t make things difficult."
One Sword Cultivator immediately acted, leaving his ring and vanishing in a flash. With someone taking the lead, the psychological burden on the others vanished. Soon, the rest of the Sword Cultivators had disappeared without a trace.
Ning Xuan sat down cross-legged and began to rapidly recover his strength. The ten or so cultivators who had chased after Little White would surely be back soon.
However, the first one to return was Little White itself.
"Woof... woof..."
The now-smaller creature stared at Ning Xuan with resentful eyes. With Wawa backing it up, it grew bold. Ning Xuan ignored it.
"Dammit, that thing runs fast!" a voice cursed in the distance.
"Hey, look! Doesn’t that little thing in her arms look just like that Element Beast?" one of the returning Sword Cultivators pointed at Little White from afar.
"It really is!"
"Well, well. How dare they lie to us!" another cultivator fumed.
"Wait! Something’s not right! Where is everyone else?!" A man about to attack was pulled back by his companion.
The dozen or so Sword Cultivators looked around, and suddenly one’s eyes widened in horror. He saw Ning Xuan sitting cross-legged, and he also saw all the fresh corpses on the ground.
"Ning... Ning Xuan! He killed Brother Zhou, Brother Wang, Brother Chen..."
Another cultivator spotted Ning Xuan, and his gaze fell upon the bodies, his face twisting in shock. The weaker ones among them already began to consider retreat.
"You can leave. Just leave the Storage Rings behind," the seated Ning Xuan said suddenly.
"Bullshit! He’s gone too far! Let’s fight him—"
WHOOSH!
A Flying Sword flashed like lightning. The speaker was silenced, a blade through his throat, pinning him to a tree trunk several yards away.
Everyone at the scene was horrified.
Some of the Sword Cultivators who had fled earlier hadn’t gone far. Witnessing this scene from the shadows, they felt a wave of profound relief.
That bastard is too devious! Goddammit, he’s been sitting here fishing for us this whole time!
"What do we do?"
"What else? We go back to Cloud Floating Mountain and report the truth. After that, it’s the Wu Family’s problem."
"I hear the Wu Family possesses a Spirit Sword, one nourished by the blood of their Direct Lineage, that can kill on its own. Do you think we’ll get to witness its splendor this time?"
